Looks great, Taz has competent people working for them & made great recommendations. My neighbor just used a home improvement store for counter top & back splash & the work is all screwed up & needs to be redone. I told him to use Taz. By the way if you see this THANK YOU everyone at Taz.

We contracted with Taz Tile to install new valves, re-tile the walls and floor, add a seat and replace the door of our master shower. Jason came to our home to measure and provide an estimate. We worked with Jackie in the office who was very helpful in choosing tile options and we agreed on a final invoice. The demo and installation of Durarock went well, ready for the tiler, a subcontractor hired by Taz Tile. Our shower is not a standard square shape and the tiler seemed challenged by this. He worked very slowly, walking back and forth between the master and the garage to cut one tile at a time. Sometimes he did not show up until late in the day to do a couple of hours work before leaving again. We were a little concerned but the Supervisor, Ian who showed up every two to three days said that was the way construction goes. We had purchased enough mosaic tile to make a four inch accent around the shower but the tiler said that we did not have enough and reduced it to three inches. When the mosaic was completed there was a lot left over and it was clear that there had been enough for the original plan. The accent was poorly installed, a little crooked and not uniform to the rest of the tile. When we pointed this out to the Supervisor he offered to have it taken out and reinstalled by the same tiler but by now we were towards the end of three weeks of what was estimated to be a one week installation and we just wanted it to end. Taz Tile gave us a $100 credit for the extra mosaic we purchased that was not installed. The wall tile and tiled seat were installed well, but the seat is level and not sloped (despite repeated reminders) and we have to wipe it off after every shower. When the plumber came to reinstall the hardware he could not do it as the tiler had not left enough space around the valves. The tile had to be re-cut. When the plumber returned we found that during the demo the small, metal drain plate had been removed. The plumber reluctantly provided one that didn't fit so he drilled new holes to attach it. I do not know if this was the reason, but we received a new bill from Jason by email with an additional charge of $500 for deviation to the original plumbing requests. I asked him to call me so we could discuss it but he would not. He jtold me by email that he had received a bill increase from the plumber and he was passing it on. There were a few other small items that needed touching up after the final inspection by the Supervisor and we waited over a week for him to contact us. Meanwhile, the increase to the bill was unresolved. We wanted to get this settled and move on so I called the office and spoke to Jackie. She took the $500 off the invoice and I paid. After almost three weeks the supervisor called us and left a message saying he had been ill. We had already resolved some things ourselves and were not willing to wait in one more time for Taz Tile.

Good first: The vendor started on time, March 13. Nice match on grab bars. The material colors were correct. The bad: The sales department, supervisor and technician do not communicate well together. The demolition went beyond the original surface area so we ran out of materials. The installer was nice but had to redo areas due to our appearance objections. The installer did re-do two areas on the bath floor to our satisfaction. The installer was working on other jobs when while our project sat idle. We discussed a host of problems with Taz owner Jason Rice. Mid-way through the project we just felt like the job needed to be finished even if it was not to our standards. The homeowner mitigated some set backs by repairing drywall that was damaged during demolition. Most of the problems could have been avoided if the installer and/or supervisor had maintained perspective and double checked their work. The floor was poured too high which required a drain extension (supplied by Taz). Three wall tiles were hung side ways along the floor. The curbless sill design did not drain and required an additional sill overlay (which Taz Supplied). The travertine niche has an unbalanced appearance due to the edge of the shelf being hidden. The vetical Schluter edging was not plumb at the door rail which was particualarly noticable when the door rail was installed. Some wall tiles and floor stones were laid at different depths. Water does not drain from one corner of the shower. The job which was scheduled to finish in 5-7 working days finished 31 calendar days after start. The grab bars were not ordered when the tile was ordered causing a back order of those components. Photos attached.
