CLASSIC CANVAS

I've been using Kelvin Simmerman for all my marine canvas since 1994. He may charge a little more but his work is outstanding and well worth the cost. If I had any complaint it would be that sometimes he is too precise. I have a couple of his pieces that are very snug and take some effort to install, but they sure look good when in place. I would much rather have the job snug as opposed to the loose and sloppy work I've seen on other boats done by other contractors.
With Kelvin the work is done on time and for the agreed price. On his own he has made some additional changes/additions that I had not thought of but still for the same price. This is written in March 2014 and I will soon call to order some replacement canvas for those areas where sun and weather have taken their toll. I don't even bother getting other estimates.
I am capable of doing some canvas work myself but nothing like he can do.

I called Classic Canvas to get an estimate on fixing my old bimini for my cuddy cabin. A guy named Kelvin met me at the boat to take measurements and give me his advise on what options I should go with. I do a lot of fishing, so I didn't want anything that would impede fighting a smoker kingfish or big tarpon. He made me a completely new bimini, installed it with new framework and hardware and then made me curtains that could be removed or left in place depending on whether or not I was storing the boat or dealing with incliment weather. The enclosures he made zipped to the bimini top and fastened to my windshield and other places on my hull making the inside of my cockpit completely weatherproof. I keep my boat outside at a marina and this solved my solution for storage as well. I also had an issue with water leaking into my cabin from where my hatch molding has gotten old and my cabin windows were also leaking due to old/cracked caulk. He made me a cover for that as well addressing this problem too. Now, the only water I get in my cabin is what I bring with me to drink.
From getting my initial quote to the improved look of my boat, I couldn't be happier with the service. I'm not an expert, but I have been boating for many years, and from what I can tell, the craftsmanship and quality of the work done could be surpassed by none. Clearly the best decision I could have made.
