I just saw Curtis’s Bright Blue Pools crew re-plastering a neighbor’s pool and it reminded me how fortunate we are to have chosen him and his fine people to re-plaster our pool several years ago. They did an awesome job, in and out in only a couple of days, excellent work and exactly on the price estimate. No hidden charges, no quibbling over details. And three years later the plaster is still in great shape…no sign at all of any wear or deterioration. We would definitely NOT recommend Bright Blue Pool. In June of 2017, we contracted with Mr. Curtis Nelson, owner of Bright Blue Pool, to resurface and retile our residential pool. The tile we selected was approved by Mr. Nelson for our particular job. Three months later, in September 2017, we began to notice a few discolored tiles. Upon contacting Mr. Nelson, he told us to keep and eye on it and to let him know if there were any more color changes ongoing. A few months later, we observed that more tiles were discoloring, so we documented with photos and contacted the Bright Blue Pool's owner again and including the photos. At this point, he suggested it might be the fault of our pool cleaning company or perhaps our choice of tile for the job. I spoke extensively with the tile retailer and the manufacturer of the tiles we had chosen to clarify this matter. They stated these particular tiles were used often for this waterline tile application. We called Mr. Curtis one more time and were hung up on. Last summer, one year later, I contacted Mr. Curtis again, attempting to appeal to his responsibility as a business owner to make this right. We never heard back. Mr. Curtis lacks the character or integrity to correct his mistake. Consumer BEWARE.

"We regret that our client made such a poor choice regarding a tile that we tried to encourage her not to use. We ALWAYS specify 6 x 6 standard frostproof swimming pool tile when we replaster swimming pools. We do NOT recommend glass tile, especially that chosen by the client. The tile chosen was HER choice, not ours. There is no way we can guarantee that water will not get behind waterline tile that is submerged in water. If you are not satisfied with the way your tile performed this is not an installation issue. We are not responsible for the way your tile performs. The tile was installed properly and in line with manufacturer's clear directions. The tile did NOT come loose nor did any come off the wall. We did NOT warranty the tile chosen. You will need to take your concerns up with the manufacturer."

Hiring this company was one of the worst mistakes of my life. We paid 1/2 off a $16,000 estimate up front. The first thing they messed up was the tile. Looked like a 10 yr old had done it. Then the pool surface was finished but it had several deep pot holes and several boot and shoe prints. And of course, resurfacing the deck was the last straw. A very thin coat was applied It too had several large pot holes that would hold water when it rained.Not to mention the large scraping marks all about the deck from the tool they used to put it on with. It was supposed to be textured, somewhat like a knock down roof but it was scraped with a trowel which left teeth marks all around. Even though I made several attempts to get the general manager to come out and see during the process the only time he came out was shortly after the the tile had been finished and he did make the tile guy redo it. But no one would come for any of the other issue that I tried to get them to fix early while still wet and could have easily been corrected. So when finally I said I wasn't paying for the lousy work until it was fixed to at least the standard he said that it would have been done. The GM came and agreed it was the worst job is crew had ever done and that he would start to get it fixed. He left and several days later he decided it would cost him to much to fix what they had messed up so he would not charge me the rest of my fee but he would not do anymore work to make it better or warranty his garbage. All through the process I made several attempts to get them to fix during the job. to no avail. If you see this company hold on to your money!!!

I would highly recommend Curtis Nelson’s company -- Bright Blue Pools -- to anyone looking for a reputable and dependable pool re-surfacing company. Curtis’s crew is professional and operates like a well-oiled machine. Their efficiency is beyond words. How fortunate we were that Bright Blue had an unexpected schedule opening and Curtis Nelson was incredibly accommodating to the point of changing what were fixed personnel allocations at 3PM in the afternoon on Tuesday to directing them to our pool by 5PM to start pumping out our 52,000 gallon community pool. 60 hours later, our pool was re-plastered with new tiles -- every miniscule detail was accomplished – and the pool was already 2/3 refilled!!! It doesn’t get any better than that, y’all!

Terribly. Once Curtis left the job on a Friday, it took 9 months (after MANY ignored texts and phone calls) to get him back to look at the areas needing to be finished as well as those broken down since his team left. Upon his return, Curtis ultimately left, refusing to fix even the areas of our pool he admitted weren't done correctly or up to par with his standards (many holes left throughout the coping, broken edges, rough overspray inside pool that cuts feet, overspray on decorative rocks around pool, gunite cleaned off in yard and flower beds, and smear marks in plaster).... instead blaming us for being unhappy with his level of service and responsiveness. Also, he continually discluded my wife from conversation turning to instead address me even when she had asked him the question. He also tried to say he would come fix the areas needing completion but only if I got off of work to meet him to do it - seems very discriminating against females. When I said I couldn't do that, he said it wasn't happening then and walked off. He presents so nicely in the beginning and promises you a beautiful pool with amazing results... which I'm sure you'll get if you don't pay him anything until it's completed and you've had a chance to review the workmanship. Very sad it turned into this and that he blamed everyone else, including all his own team... but in the end didn't accept responsibility or finish the job. Also, sidenote, he asked for payment in cash if possible; when I said we couldn't get that much cash he said anything we could do would "help him pay his crew before the weekend". (I wish it was possible to add more than 10 photos!)

"Bright Blue Pools resurfaces on average about 200 pools a year covering most of the Florida panhandle. In most cases we don't get paid until the job is complete and the homeowners are happy and satisfied. We were very happy to make the requested repairs on some minor imperfections that the homeowners wanted addressed. We requested that both homeowners be available when we performed these repairs to be certain that they were both satisfied. We had already attempted repairs on three previous occasions. Whenever recommendations were made to resolve their concerns they always found these unacceptable. We were more than willing to try to meet their expectations yet again for the fourth time on Friday, February 8. The homeowners were unwilling to make this work despite our best efforts to adjust our schedule. It is true that there were times when phone calls were not returned, but this was true on both ends. We have always been happy to address their concerns and the concerns of any of our clients. We simply seek a mutual and reasonable resolution. It did not seem that this was forthcoming. We so hope that this can be resolved in the future and we can count another satisfied customer."

A neighbor recommended Bright Blue Pools to us for resurfacing our pool and let me tell you Curtis and his crew did not disappoint. I highly recommend Bright Blue Pools, Curtis kept me informed of exactly what and when it would happen. They arrived on the set date early in the morning and immediately started to work, never once did they slow down until the job was complete. This crew worked so well together, it was if they automatically knew what the rest of the crew was doing, it was amazing to watch. They finished my pool on the same day and did an absolutely beautiful job. I can not say enough good things about Curtis and his company.

Bright Blue Pools came out and resurfaced our pool and spa in 2 days, basically. It looks STELLAR. They replaced all the return fittings, main drain covers, regrouted our tiles and added some decorative new ones on stairs, sitting bench, and spa benches, all at a great price. Our 13 year old pool is now a sparkling blue and looks brand new. Would definitely recommend.

I have used Bright Blue Pools for 2 projects now and have been extremely satisfied with both of my experiences with this company and its employees. The first project was a complete re-plaster of a pool in which they resurfaced my existing pool and also added a new bench seat to the deep end wall and also added new accent tiles to the steps and the new bench. I could not be happier with the quality of the work they and the appearance of the pool and new bench and accent tiles. The second project they did for me was a hand sanding a pool surface due to issues related to poor pool maintenance and metal deposits. They drained the pool and hand sanded the entire pool surface and completed the whole project in only 1 day! The pool looks brand new and I couldn't be happier! Thank you Bright Blue Pools and all the crew that worked on my projects! A very satisfied customer.

We bought a home with an old swamp of a pool. They were amazing. They arrived on time and were polite and professional. They were able to do my pool 6 weeks earlier and for the a little less than the 4 competitor bids that I received. I would highly recommend their services. Curtis and his crew were wonderful to work with. We had a hideous looking hot tub that no other pool company wanted to remove. Curtis had no problem working with us and came up with a better solution than we could imagine to make it look like the hot tub never existed. The quality of work is incredible. Communication was great throughout the project and the crew was on time or early every day. The crew does an amazing job cleaning the yard and work site every day before they left. We could not have found a better company to transform our pool and yard! Thank you so much Curtis. We love our pool.

Curtis and his crew were amazing. The pool went from drab and dull to beautiful. They were quick to respond to our requests. Delay occurred due to weather and paver order (from company). Once the pavers were in, Curtis' crew were out here hard at work. I have never seen a resurfacing done before. They did amazing work. The pool looks brand new. The backyard has now become our favorite spot. Thank you Bright Blue Pool for your hard work, knowledge and professionalism.

From beginning to end this has been by far the best service any contractor has ever given us. Complete plastering & reqrouting of our pool & spa. Curtis was absolutely wonderful, he gave us a very fair quote, (got 3 estimates) included even more items than the original quote as he wanted it perfect. We are totally amazed that a 23 year old pool could ever look like new. He & his crew exceeded our expectations We really appreciate all the hard work & attention to detail. A trusted friend, businessperson and pool owner highly recommended Curtis Nelson and Bright Blue Pools when I inquired as to who had resurfaced his beautiful pool. After getting bids to resurface my pool I found that all bids were very close. I went with BB Pools. Curtis arrived at the time we had agreed on. His crew went to work like a well tuned machine. Each crew member had a job to do. While they were all very busy they were also very friendly and professional. There was no loud annoying music that is often heard on construction sites. They were kind enough to help me move some heavy items from my garage to the back yard. I am a senior with a bad back. After the job was well underway, Curtis informed me that he needed to look at another pool and submit a bid. He would be away for an hour or so. Before leaving he introduced me to one of his crew members and told me that if I had any questions or concerns I should speak to this person. Further, he gave me his cell # and told me to feel free to call him if anything came up that we could not resolve. Nothing came up at all. Same well tuned machine. The company policy is that that I would pay him nothing until the job was complete and I was totally satisfied. By mid afternoon the job was complete. The pool area was cleaned up and beautiful !! I cheerfully paid him the amount agreed upon. Just as my friend highly recommended Bright Blue Pools, as a satisfied customer I am confident in doing the same. Great company !

Curtis was very responsive. Made himself available for the estimate visit on our schedule. Excellent bid, we accepted. He had availability during a lull for his crew, so he got it done much sooner than expected, and in about half the time. The quality of the work was awesome. He has been available for follow-up questions, again at our convenience. We are completely satisfied and would not hesitate to hire him for additional work if we need it.

I finally found a company that could fix my leaking hot tub. I've had several companies attempt to fix the hot tub but had no luck. Curtis was determined to find the real problem and not just do a temporary fix. He was honest with me about what the work could entail, and even followed through to make sure I was happy. We recently had a different issue with the hot tub, not related to his work, and he sent someone out to take care of it!

This spring grey staining appeared on sides and bottom of pool. We contacted Mr. Nelson who instructed us to drain the pool and his crew would come out and acid wash. We did as instructed but the crew never showed up. We contacted them again after waiting a week and were instructed to put the water back in and rescheduled. We got a new date, drained the pool, and again no show. At this point we retested our water, our tap water, etc. everything in perfect balance. My husband finally took it upon himself and pressure washed and acid washed the pool himself. During this process we discovered two cracks in the new plaster. We filled them pool back up, added chemicals, balanced perfect. Within in two weeks grey to black stain appeared again. We contacted Mr. Nelson once again. He made yet another appointment to come out and access. We still haven't seen or heard from him. Terrible, terrible service. We would

"When refilling a swimming pool after it has been replastered, if your city water contains high levels of iron, you will get some staining. Typically proper water filtration and balancing will help to mitigate these issues. However the staining being referred to was caused by a company that installed grey pavers around the pool after we had completed our work. The dust and run off from cutting the pavers must not be allowed to enter the pool. This company was hired by the client and obviously this was an oversight of the customer who failed to provide proper supervision. We kindly offered to remedy the situation by coming by to acid wash their pool, please note, at our expense. Due to conflicts in both our schedules we struggled to come up with a timeframe that worked for both parties. Please note: Bright Blue Pools absolutely stands behind their work and we are happy to do what we can to make our clients happy. In this case, the paver company that installed the grey pavers after we completed our work was responsible for the staining. We cannot be held liable for encounters suffered by the client after our departure."

Had several pool tiles that fell off at water line. Had previously contacted three other pool companies for this job and gotten no

Called Bright Blue for an estimate.
Two hours later they showed up and reattached the tiles.

Our pool is 16 years old, and the tile was no longer available. I informed Curtis of our problem, and he found the obsolete tiles and installed them in a reasonable amount of time, at a reasonable price, with quality workmanship. Curtis originally refinished our pool with the same quality of workmanship that he displayed in replacing our tiles. Curtis and his son were extremely courteous, considerate and well informed, and we would not hesitate to call on him again.
