The two owners came and clearly explained shutter construction and installation.  Even though they were a bit more expensive than other bids I felt they would do a quality job.  The engineer came a few weeks later to finalize measurements.  There was a bit of miscommunication at the beginning of the job since the owners had promised that all existing shutter bolts would be removed and filled--the crew was not prepared/willing to do this.  After several conversations with the office the situation was corrected and all bolts were removed and filled.  I was told that the installation would take 4 days it actually took 8 days.  The crew was always very nice and helpful.

The installation took several days, but it was worth it.  The installers were meticulous and precise.  They checked the measurements for each window as they installed them.  They made sure that the shutters fit properly and did an excellent job caulking around the frames.   They installed felt in the tracks to reduce vibration and noise during a hurricane. There are many other details in the installation  process that made it superior.   We were pleased with the appearance of the shutters, and with the quality of the product and the quality of the installation.  Also, we enjoyed working with the owners of Shutter Services.   They were accomodating and available.  The installation crew are all very polite and hardworking.  They know what they are doing.
Also, Shutter Services installed shutters on a second home for us.  Due to cost considerations, we went with the lighter Town and Country Shutters on the second home.   We were very happy with the install on that home as well.  However, I would recommend the 6.8 Accordions as I like that product better and there are differences in the installation.

Tech arrived on time for estimate.  Work was done as agreed for price agreed at the time agreed.

They arrived at my condo Tuesday morning.  When they started to work, they thought that my balcony was concrete, but found out that it is stucco over wood.  That changed things, and the shutters had to be redone.  So, they returned to the shop and said they would be back in an hour.  When they returned, they put the materials on the balcony and said they were going to lunch.  When they returned, they completed the shutters on the living room sliding glass doors.  Then they said that since the balcony floor sloped, the shutters would have to be redone for two of the rooms opening onto the balcony.  He showed me that they had drilled holes that had to be redone lower (because of the wood/concrete issue), so they patched the holes.  The patched areas were very obvious and stood out from the rest of the wall.  They left at 2:30 P.M. saying they would be back Wednesday morning to complete the job.
Wednesday morning they completed the work, and I tried all three sets of hurricane shutters.  The shutters on the living room sliding glass doors were too short for me to close.  They said they need to add something (I forget what it was called) to make them easier to close.  He called the shop and told me they did not have the material to finish the job, and they would return another day to finish, and asked for the check.  I said I would pay for the job when the work was completed.  He called the shop and told me they had the material needed to finish the job.  He left, got the material and finished the job.  The doors closed smoothly and I paid him.

We called three companies. One of them gave us their quote and showed us their work on an I-Pad. Very professional. He explained the type of shutters he's use and compared them to other types of shutters, and why he thought theone's he used were better. This company wanted 50 percent down and 50 percent on completion. Shutter Services came out next, and described the same type of shutters the first company proposed. Shutter Services was just a couple of hundred dollars less than the first company, and they asked for 25 percent down, and the balance on completion. Both companies seemed very professional, they both had similar prices, and they both offered the same shutters. We chose Shutter Services mainly because it was less money down. The third company never called back- a few days after we made our decision- a subcontractor called for them. 

This was an excellent experience.  I called several companies for annual service on our shutters.  All said they won't work on shutters installed by other companies.  Only Shutter Services was willing to do that work.  In fact, other companies recommended them to do that work when they said they couldn't. 

Scheduling was easy. I spoke with Barry, he gave an estimate, we set the appointment, and that was it.  Nothing went wrong and there were no surprises.  The guys showed up on time, did a great job, and charged the amount Barry estimated on the phone.  Very easy and very good work.  I will hire them again for sure!

They are extremely reliable. The workman are not only very capable but they leave everything in perfect condition. I would absolutely use them for more work in the future and would recommend them to anyone!
