Precision Piano Tuning

I had told Douglas I really wasn't in a hurry when he had originally called me in November when I purchased the Angie's List "deal". I told him to just call me when he wasn't busy and was in my area. We just met today (Jan 11) and he was the most pleasant gentleman and very professional. He tuned my piano and it sounds like a new one. I'm very pleased and he said he'd call me in a year when we both decided I'd probably need another tuning. I'm so glad I found him on Angie's list. I couldn't be more pleased.

Doug Suval was very nice, on the phone and in person. He tuned the piano. Encouraged me to learn to play. I would use his services again.

Mr Suvall was timely. Since the piano was not tuned for quite along time--he said it would cost more.I had no problem with that--I paid an additional $200.00. I explained that I do not play--my daughter (who does not live with me) does. I asked him to fix the "C" key--as it was sticking. He spent some time and then said it was fixed. I did not check his work--as I am not aware of what to look for. Approx two months ago my daughter stopped by (I should mention that she is 33--works full time--has a baby-- and lives one hour away--so she doeos not come over too often). . I requested that she play something. She did--while she played, she mentioned that when holding down the right pedal the "C" key still sticks. I also mention that no one played the piano after Mr Suvall tuned it and supposedly fixed the "C" key. I called Mr. Suvall to explain the problem and to request that he fix the "C" key as was initially requested. He started complaining and going on and on about a "sticky key". He wanted me to pay another $125 for him to come back out. I did not think this was reasonable--as I paid him to fix the problem and he did not do so the first time. He also knew that I am unfamiliar with what is required upon having a piano repair--thus I did not check whether he actually did what I paid him to do. Now, I must pay someone else to eventually fix the sticking key....I will probably wait until my daughter has the piano moved to the home she is building later this year. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with this experience. I must caution that if you use this person--you should check to make sure that he has done what was promised--before he leaves. I will not use this person again.

Timely and professional. Good for piano belonging to a non-professional musician. Might need a bit more accuracy for use of a professional musician.

Not much to say. The tuner said the piano was in pretty good shape. I kept his card in case I wanted to call him again in the future.

It went very well. Since the piano had not been tuned in years, he told me it might cost quite a bit more to tune. He told me this when I booked the service, so I was expecting to probably have to pay more. When he got here and opened up the piano, he immediately said he thought it would not cost more, that the piano looked like it was in great shape; I was pleasantly surprised. he did a great job and I'm very happy. I will use him again.

We just got a used piano that is in great shape but was a bit out of tune. Doug came over in a timely manner and tuned the piano, which is a spinet. He was very thorough and professional, and the piano sounds great now!

This service went smoothly and quickly. I bought a deal on Angie's list to have my piano tuned. It had not been tuned in years and was recently moved to my home. I was pleased to find out it was in great shape. The tuner was friendly and professional and even recommended a piano teacher for me.

Doug showed up on time and tuned the piano. The piano was in a little bad shape as it had not been tuned in some time. Doug was very pleasant and patient as my dog kept barking at him. Even though the piano being very old will never be perfect, overall I was happy with his work.

Tuned my piano which hadn't been tuned in thirty years and replaced a broken wire.Had to come back a second time to finish the job because of the long time between tunings and the broken wire

Mr. Suvail spent about one hour in my home tuning my piano. When he was about to leave I said I wanted to check out the piano, and when I did I found that it just didn't sound right. He spent a few more minutes fine tuning, but seemed in a hurry to leave for some reason. I asked him how much I owed him and he said $150.00. I though that sounded a bit high but I paid him anyway. When he left I checked Angie's List again and found that he charged $89.00 for the people that were reviewing him on the list.. He charged me $60.00 more, without any explanation, and the only reason I paid him what he asked was because I didn't have the facts at hand. You can check his charges and see that I am correct. In addition, the next day when I went to play my piano, I found that one key didn't play at all. The key is in the upper register, and I didn't notice it at the time because it's not a frequently used key. I called Mr. Suvail and explained the problem. He told me that when he was in my area again he would call me, come over and fix the key. I never heard from him again. Mr. Suvail was very pleasant and we had being from New York in common, however, I have had my piano tuned in the past and tuner always checked all of the hammers and the felts along with the sounding board, and even vacuumed all of the accumulated dust and dirt from inside of the piano. I was very surprised when he did none of these things. I do take some responsibility for not asking him what his service entailed. Possibly, a broken hammer etc, or additional services might be at an additional charge, but he never mentioned any additional charges to me, and I just assumed that he was providing a FULL SERVICE piano tuning.
