Mike Murgatroy CrossCountry Mortgage

I found Mike on Angie's List.  :-)  He came with high recommendations and he and his team did not disappoint.  I wanted to choose someone local as I didn't realize this is the sort of thing that could be done long distance.   We did complete most of the transaction via email and scanner, which was convenient as I was licing about 45 minutes away.  Mike explained that he does mortgages for folks all over the country.

My situation was a bit unique as I graduated from nursing school less than a year ago.  I wanted to buy a house but wasn't sure I could even get a mortgage without working for a longer period of time at my job.  Mike was incredibly helpful in the early stages before I even started looking at houses.  He looked over all my information and assured me he could get me a mortgage and let me know how much I could afford.  Once I had narrowed down a house, he confirmed what he expected my payment would be to ensure I could afford it and provided me with a pre-qualification letter. 

My house was a short sale, which turned into a 5 month closing.  After the acceptance of the offer by the sellers, I met with Mike and his team in the office.  Mike was incredibly helpful and gave me a lot of information about the loan process and how he works through a varuety of channels to lock-in the best mortgage rates for his customers.  He had me fill out all the paperwork in advance so I was ready once the bank accepted the offer.

Once the bank approved the Short Sale, Mike and his team worked furiously to close in 3 weeks.  I was still nervous that my loan somehow wouldn't come through but I should not have doubted Mike.  Not only did I get a loan but I got a 4% interest rate as well with no points.  My monthly payments came out around $200 less than his first estimate and my closing cost came out less as well.  Mike was able to credit back the lender's fees so my $400 covered the appraisal.  I was thrilled with the outcome and now have an amazing house for less than I could rent an apartment for.

Throughout the entire process, Mike and his team were incredibly friendly, honest, professional, organized, and responsive.  One thing that I find unforgiveable in a professional relationship is a lack of responsiveness but I was pleasantly surprused with how responsive Mike and his team was.  If I emailed Mike with a question, I always got a response back very quickly, even in the evenings or on the weekend.  I got his cell phone # and could call him or text him if I needed to.  Mike and his team have mastered the concept of "Underpromise and Over-deliver."  I cannot stress enough how highly I recommend him.

Every contact we had with WCS Lending over a six week period during the refi process of our home was wonderful.  I located WCS on Angie's List and my husband called for a quote.   The rate Mike quoted was very competitive however their closing costs beat everyone else we contacted so we were very pleased with loan package.  Peter took over letting us know what they would need.  Their responses were nearly immediate and their emails were clear, precise and fun.  We knew we had chosen the right team when the last item on their 'things-to-do list' was 'Be Happy'!  They checked in frequently, acknowledged receipt of required items and shared where we were in the process as we went along.  I looked forward to seeing their emails when I would come home from work and check my home email!  A few weeks after our initial contact, during the underwriting process, Mike called my husband to let us know that rates had lowered and he would  suggest we move to a lower rate with another lender and save some additional money.  Mike took the time to make sure I understood how to evaluate a break even point as we would have to pay for another appraisal.  Our break even point made going for the lower rate a better deal and Mike and Peter took care of everything.  I work for a Credit Union that prides itself on our low rates, yet using Mike and his team I came out ahead of even our own in-house rates.  As a manager of 10 branches I can confidently say that Mike, Peter and Laurie excel at caring for their customers.  They took the time to explain everything.  Their emails were friendly and personal and I felt an instant connection even though we never met personally.  On the day of closing, I was under the weather recovering from the flu and could not remember a detail that was on the closing paperwork.  I emailed Peter and he immediately helped me resolve the issue.  My husband and I are considering purchasing another property in the next few years and we will most certainly use Mike and his team.  If you are looking for someone who steps outside the normal mortgage process and is committed to providing you with a wonderful mortgage experience I highly recommend you consider WCS Lending.
