WE USED YOUR LIST TO HIRE GULFSTREAMand gt;
THE warrantee was for 7 years. WE had a leak in a bathhroom that damaged the ceiling and shorted out the lighting.
We have been unable to use the bathroom for over two months, They did fix the leak in the roof and they agreed to repair the ceiling and lighting, with a promise from THEM over two months
AFTER MORE THAN 3 ATTEMPTS TO DETERMINE IF THEY WILL HONOR THEIR WORD, THEY HAVE NOT GIVEN ME THE COURTESY OF A REPLY.
I THINK THAT ANGIES LIST RATING HAS BEEN COMPROMISED, AND IS THE FIRST VENDOR YOU HAVE LISTED THAT DID NOT DESERVE YOUR LISTING.

It's a very, very, good company. They're the best and I like everything. When he came he was professional and polite. The technician went on the side and checked the roof. They sent an offer saying that they found the problem and what time they could perform the job. They did it, fixed it, and we sent a payment. Everything was good. I had to fix two roofs and they performed the best. I trust them. If I have a problem and need to fix or replace the roof I will call them again because they are very professional.

The job was to replace the old roof with a new one. They did that fine. However, I had to be out of town for the actual replacement. I expected them to be professional. There were nails in the grass, my pool was full of gravel, the patio had piles of the grit from the shingles, and while out of town, the crew did not communicate with me while the job was in progress. It was frustrating. To make things worse, I trusted them to use their subcontractor to detach the pool screen and the gutter in order to work the roof edges. This subcontractor overcharged painfully. I wouldn't go with this company again. Perhaps I was an easy target because I wasn't there, regardless, I expected professionalism, what I got was screwed.
Response from Gulfstream Roofing
"Dear Member, We are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with our company. I believe when we did the work on your home, you were out of the country and was very difficult to contact. The screen replacement was not part of our company's work. We completed your roof in March 2012, and received your review in the end of October. We took a magnet around the home but the landscaping was not maintained to pick up every nail around the house. The granules on your pool deck were from the large amounts of rain that we have endured with a brand new flat deck will create run off of granules. After putting a new roof on, it does require a little maintenance to keep the perimeter clean. To say you got screwed is a little harsh way of putting it. We as a company do not like bad reviews and would love to change your opinion about us as a company. We thrive on customer satisfaction. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact our office at (561) 276-9500. Sincerely, Aaron O'Hara Re-Roof Manager"

They came out promptly and gave a quote with a very detailed explanation of why and what would be repaired. There was some mixup in getting on the schedule but when I called to follow up I was promptly resolved and they came out within a week. The repair turned out to be much more involved than they expected. I expected an increase in the cost of the repair but they stuck with their original quote.

I obtained quotes from three reputable roofing contractors of $22,500, $20,000, and $19,000. My house is approximately 3,000 sf under roof. Gulfstream provided the lowest quote. Jim, their representative was very responsive and even came to my office to execute the contract. The job started the following Monday. The tear-off and #30 installation, interrupted by rain, was completed on Tuesday. The hot mop was completed on Wednesday. The tile was delivered and loaded on the roof on Thursday, and installation was performed on Thursday, Friday and the following Tuesday. The workers arrived by 8 AM every day and performed very well. The work was interrupted several times by rain, but they did a good job of protecting their work and preventing roof leaks during the tear-off. They cleaned up well every day. Aaron did an excellent job overseeing the job and keeping me informed and was always available by phone. Overall, the quality of the work was excellent. One of the miter joints associated with the replacement of a section of fascia was a little sloppy, but being an amateur trim carpenter, I am quite picky and notice everything. It was easily fixed with a little sanding and caulk. Given the scope of the job, I consider this insignificant and only mention it for the benefit of other amateur carpenters who are as particular as I am. I couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience and would highly recommend Gulfstream Roofing for a tile reroof.

Not only was Gulf Stream the least expensive company and I met with 6 roofers, they did a great job. They were on time and performed the work as stated. The men were polite and cleaned up and that is a lot coming that industry. Daniel the sales guy I dealt with was a straight shooter and knowledgeable and his price estimate was what I paid. No games. Very satisfied and would use again!!!

The salesman, Jim knew his business. He explained the process, our choices and that the house would be cleaned up after each workday and that all debris would be hauled from the house at the end of the workday. He gave us the brand names of the tile that they would use which gave my wife the opportunity to go to the tile manufacturer's showroom and select the tile to be used from samples. I was a little concerned about the amount of plywood that would be used on the decking, since the original roof was 32 years old. He threw in a couple of extra pieces. One thing that he didn't tell me and that I was pleased to find out later is that since I had a modified bitumen layer under the tile, I would have a significant decrease in my home insurance rate ($550/year). Tear off of the old roof came on a day when heavy rains were predicted for the next morning. I was really worried that they would be in a hurry and do a slipshod job, missing some of the rotten plywood that needed replaced. I came home from work that afternoon and was amazed to see the modified bitumen layer already mopped on. I looked up in the attic at one area that needed plywood replaced and there was new plywood there. That made me happy. The one thing that didn't get done that day, that probably should have was replacing the rotten fascia. But, again they were under time constraints. The carpenters came back and replaced the fascia before the tile went up. This was more difficult for them with the drip edge already installed, but they did an outstanding job. That heavy rain came the next day and I had no leaks. My wife picked the tile and that is what they delivered and installed. The tile consists of multiple colored tiles and they have to be laid in a pattern. The workers did a gorgeous job! There was no breakage and I have a couple of stacks of leftover tiles in case a hurricane blows some off. Time wise, there was a slight delay of 4 days between when they said they would start work and when they actually started work. This was a concern because the old roof had leaks. There was little rain between the time that I signed the contract and the day they started work, so everything worked out. The roof passed all inspections. Only a hurricane will show how good a job they really did, but having researched the attachment requirements for the tile and the strength of the modified bitumen underlayment, I have to believe it will hold up at least as well as the old roof. So far, I am very happy with my new roof and would definitely recommend Gulfstream to anyone who was doing a re-roof - especially with tile.

Went well. We called for a field review. Rep came at the appointed time and date. An oral report of findings was given immediately. Written proposal followed, and it included data given in the oral report. No surprises or "oops." I had checked with the BBB, other neighbors, and did not find any negative comments. Heartily recommend.

Two workers showed up, on time, and tested for leaks. The company then sent a representative to go over the findings and give me an proposal for the work. We set a date and the workers again showed up on time. They went directly to work and finished, cleaned up, and were done quickly. They were responsive and respectful and I would recommend the company highly. The reason I gave them a B in responsiveness is that I had to call the company twice before I got a call back. However, once they did call back everything went super smoothly.

I had detailed bids from about five or six other companies as well. There prices were very competitive. It was an unusually good experience. I had heard terrible experiences with roofing companies but Gulf Stream kept their word from day one. They also kept their time table as promised. They were unique in that they cleaned up after themselves every day and kept the place totally usable during night. There was a crew of about 20 workers and they got the work done quickly. They own their own equipment and don't rent it, which was one of the reasons I had selected them. The most important thing for me using them was they kept their word. If needed, I would use them in a minute for other work. I would also recommend them.

I chose Gulfstream because they had been recommended, were local and had been in business for about 30 years. Since Florida has been visited by many disreputable companies since the last hurricane, I didn't get any other estimates, even though I thought they were a bit expensive. I was also encouraged by the A rating from the BBB. The previous company I had looked up because they had sent a lovely letter offering their services is involved in a class action lawsuit. That also encouraged me to go with Gulfstream. They said the work should begin in 3 or 4 weeks, and would require no deposit until the first part was completed (tear up and felt installation, and first inspection). The inspector asked me if I was a friend of the roofer because he said that code required the nails to be 4 inches apart, and they were about 2 inches apart, which he felt they'd only do for friends and family. When I told him I was neither, he said: they must have liked you, then. We were quite satisfied.
