Garber Construction Corp

We hired Chris Garber from Garber Construction to repair areas from a flood we had in our home. Dan, his estimator came out and was a pleasure to work with from the start, they gave us a professional quote, we agreed on a great price and Chris went right to work with his team. The guys were efficient and they worked under a tight timeline. We had to move back in on a certain date and they finished everything on time (Unlike most contractors) they NEVER made promises the couldn't complete. Chris and his team went above and beyond in every aspect of the job, they did excellent work, and cleaned up before they left. Chris always answered my calls, and texts even during off hours if I needed to ask a question about the job once I got home from work. Thanks Garber Construction and Dan for an awesome contractor experience, I will use you guys again for sure!

I was referred to Chris by an acquaintance that he completed work for in the past. Before we signed a contract we spoke numerous times about the work needed and the budget. At the end of April we signed a contract and work began in May. Chris pulled permits and everything seemed to be going ok. I was paying for all materials and labor as we went. Chris and his worker built a wall in my kitchen and installed the cabinets and granite counter-tops. They ripped out the old bathroom and installed a new tub and tiled the shower. There were a few issues along the way but every time we brought them to Chris's attention he attempted to fix them. At the beginning of May I gave Chris a check for 6 windows and 2 doors. We had to order 2 windows and he said it should take about 3 weeks for them to come in. In the meantime he went to Lowe's and picked up the standard size windows and installed them. He could have gotten the doors there too but he chose to order them with the windows. Chris also hired a floor company to restore the terrazzo floors. Since the work began we had been asking him about when the floors would be done and that we had already spoken to a company we liked. The company he hired did a bad job and we were all unhappy with it. We worked out a price with the company for the unsatisfactory work. Chris admitted to me that this was his mistake and he would take the loss. We also bought solid wood interior doors and Chris assured us he could build the frames and install the doors. He did build the frames and install the doors. However, he did this towards the beginning of the job and one of the doors is damaged and no longer looks brand new. He left the door on while taking out the old bath tub and installing the new tub there are noticable dents in the door from the corners of the tub. The doors were also left on while the first floor company did the floors so they now have a layer of wax/floor residue all along the bottom of the doors and all the trim Chris put in. The last time I saw Chris we met the second floor company at my house for a demo. Chris left saying he was going to drive to Miami to pick up the doors and windows we ordered. I haven't seen him since. 2 days later he called me to say he was sick but he had been to the doctor and had antibiotics to take. I said fine and to feel better. The next day Chris's worker comes to my house and starts loading up all the tools they had been using during the job. I asked the worker what was going on and he told me that Chris wasn't feeling well and he would call me later. I asked Aaron, the worker, if Chris had gotten my doors and windows. He told me he didn't know. Since then I have called numerous times leaving voicemails. I've sent text messages, emails and letters in the mail. The certified letter I sent him was left unclaimed at the post office. Now that he isn't there it's easy to see the poor workmanship in my house. The seams in the granite counter-top are uneven, the back side of the bar top is unpolished. One of my kitchen cabinets is so uneven when you put the shelf in one of the corners doesn't touch the side of the cabinet. The windows Chris installed aren't plumb and are so crooked they don't open or close properly. To date my house is incomplete and we are in the process of hiring a new contractor to complete the work. I will probably have to pay for all new windows again.
