Window Service
$15,000
This project was a total nightmare from start to finish. The project started on April 17, 2013 and ended on December 17, 2013 (eight months). The sales team started by ordering the wrong windows, which did not have all of the features described by the sales team. The windows were reordered; however, on the second set of windows, the windows were not correctly sized. The windows were partially installed and the incorrectly sized windows were reordered. This took months to resolve due to production delays at the factory as well as delays in actually reordering the windows. During this time, the house left in disrepair. The installers indicated that the windows were incorrectly measured and incorrectly ordered again. When the third set of windows arrived they were installed; however, during installation the exterior stucco was damaged and the drywall needed to be reworked on the inside to compensate for huge gaps. After a lengthy period, the project ended and looks good; however, the time, aggravation, mess, and inconvenience outweighed the final result. The most frustrating part of the project was the unresponsiveness of senior management and manufacturer and a total lack of communications between the sales team, installers, customer, and management. I even wrote a detailed letter to the Corporate Office in Atlanta, which was never answered. I have numerous photos of the problems and documented emails over missed promises, dates, and misinformation. The last set of delays was over compensation that the Installation Manager promised, which has not yet materialized. I would never recommend Home Depot for any At-Home Service projects in the future. Their value lies in their store merchandise. On a positive note, regardless of how bad this project was, Home Depot did stick to the project until conclusion; however, the aggravation, stress, and inconvenience endured during the process was not worth the end result. I would strongly recommend that buyers interested in new windows stay away from Home Depot.
