The installation of the patio deck and driveway went very smoothly. The patio and driveway look beautiful. The project manager Nick was very professional, he stopped by everyday to see that things were progressing as they should. However there is room for improvement with the pool refurbishment. The new tile and diamond-brite for the pool looked great but the installers were a bit sloppy with the mortar and tile adhesive residue dripping on to the coping. They had to come back and acid wash off the residue. Then less than two days after the pool had been filled, there appeared about a half dozen small nail-head size rust spots embedded in the diamond-brite. They had to come back out to dig out the rust fragments. It looks fine now, but as of this writing there is one spot we're still not satisfied with. I rate the driveway and patio deck an A rating and the pool a B rating.

We actually found Gary and the team via a recommendation from another landscape and patio company.  After obtaining several quotes from other companies, we chose Special T because of its competitive pricing and because we had confidence in Gary right from our very first meeting.  The Special T team is punctual, hardworking and professional.  Despite the fact that there were numerous rain days during the project, Gary's team worked hard all day, every day and completed the project on time and on budget.  Gary even went the extra mile obtaining and installing two pool fountains for us after the project was completed.  One of them turned out to have a manufacturers defect but that did not stop Gary from trying to work with it for several hours on his own time.  That is a real testament to the quality of work and commitment to service you can expect from Special T.  Our pool and patios are now beautiful and we are happy to recommend Special T and its team of professionals to anyone looking to have this kind of work completed.

We originally called Frank Baisi at the end of May/beginning of June to get a quote to install pavers in the driveway, front walkway and porch, a retaining wall behind the back patio and a step down off the same patio.  Frank was on time for the appointment and was very personable.  He took his time and didn't seem to be in a rush to get to his next appointment.  He provided suggestions on how to accomplish what we wanted.  I advised him that we wanted to do an additional walkway, but weren't sure of the cost. He said he wold break the quote down by each item so we could pick and choose what was within our budget.  We received the first quote and we were pleasantly surprised, so we asked him to add a few more things (two more retaining walls and an additional walkway going from the driveway to the side yard.  Even after all these additions, his price was very, very reasonable.  (I only wish he had suggested we re-do our stamped concrete patio at the same time!)  He submitted all the correct paperwork to the city and was very patient when the city decided to change the operating system it uses for permits.  
We finally began installing pavers on August 4 and they were finished in two to three days.  The men who did the install are artisans. They did a fantastic job with the pavers and the retaining walls.  Frank does an amazing job.  He knows how the process works and he makes it work flawlessly. He always let us know how things were progressing and if there were any issues.  (The only issue we had was that one of the sprinker lines was damaged while digging up the concrete.  Frank sent someone the next day to fix it.) He does what he says he's going to do and that is very, very rare.  I have a few more areas that need to be paved and the only person I will be calling is Frank Baisi.

They were very responsive to explaining their product showing samples and photos of finished jobs they had done. They were great with working with the city building department obtaining permits.  There was a zoning issue that they were able to straighten out.  They began work early and never stopped until it was all completed.  They addressed all concerns brought to their attention.  I had some sprinkler damage and they took care of it.  The salesman supervisor Lacey was very helpful and put my mind at ease by answering all my questions.  They finished the project on time and obtained closing permits.

The company performed paver installation for our patio and pool deck and the installers were absolute artisans. The attention to detail and the clean up after each days work was a joy to observe. We had estimates gathered from different companies and went with Special T Pavers because they  offered a very fair price, were very professional and provided an excellent service.
Our driveway was a huge job, it took a couple of days to complete the final project, but the guys worked h****** it every day paying attention to all details.  
Everyone was very polite and professional and completely understood our needs, they worked quickly to get the permits in order and all of the inspections with the city approved.
We get so many compliments on our driveway and I would highly recommend Special T Pavers to anyone who values good service, and friendly honest people.

The driveway is nice and they maintained a nice grade given the drainage issues required my property.  This was difficult to achieve, but they worked it out nicely.  The side walkway initially had some issues with mismatched stones (probably because they were working on a neighbor's property at the same time).  They replaced the mismatched stones and completed the job so that it matches the whole way through.  Overall, I am happy with the results of the work they did.

As the old saying goes: “there are three sides to every story, your OPINION, our FACTS and then the truth. You have stated your OPINION of our company and now we would like to state the FACTS of the situation and allow the reviewers of Angie’s List to make a decision of what the truth is. You are correct in saying that your job was completed approx 6 to 7 months ago. However, you did not pay $ 5,500.00. According to our records (contract signed and credit card receipts) you paid only $2,400.00 for the whole project. You did in fact contact our company 7 months after the completion of the project to request to put a claim through our General Liability for a pipe you claim we ruptured 7 months ago and not to and I quote from your review “simply see if they would pick up the pavers so the plumbers could access the water line and then put them back down”. Yes, you were told that we would look into the matter and contact you shortly. Before we even had a chance to return your phone call and state our position on the matter, you contacted us threatening to sue us as you have on this review. I will quote your statement word for word “…just like you work with bricks, I am a lawyer and work with the courts and I will serve you with papers”. The owner of the company would have gladly returned your phone call but he was not in town to do so. We would have shared this information with you but you did not give us a chance as you were too busy threatening us. Please take a look at the contract that you signed on 7/27/2013. If you do not have a copy of that contract I can provide one for you. In the Terms and Conditions, section # 3 states the following: “Utilities- Sprinkler systems, utility line and/or any underground lines not specifically mentioned in above contract will be the responsibility of the Purchaser” That clause is there for this reason. We take great care in not rupturing any pipes/lines however; it does happen from time to time as we never know what is underground. Even with that clause there when we do rupture a line we act quickly and work with the homeowner to try to repair it, but not 7 months after the fact. We would have gladly sent over a crew to pick up the pavers and put them back down had you stated from the beginning that is what you wanted. As far as the “bait and switch”, we do think it is a little bigot of you to assume that our workers are “illegal” because they are not “American” workers. If you are a lawyer like you stated then you would clearly know that it is illegal to hire non documented workers in this country. All of our crew members are documented and allowed to not only reside in this country but also work. We do try our very best to provide the best possible customer service as you can clearly see by all of our other reviews. We are truly sorry that you are not satisfied with our performance."

I highly recommend hiring this company for your deck and driveway renovation work.  I especially liked that it was one source for the demolition, paver work and pool work.  All earthwork and grading included.  I didn?t have to coordinate, it just got done in an organized matter.   All the workers were professional and kept the jobsite neat during construction.  Tony, our project?s foreman, was excellent and always kept me in the loop with any questions with details.  Never assumed.  He told me, ?It?s better to get owner?s approval than to redo it?.  As with most renovations, unexpected issues happen. They discussed possible solutions with me and we made decisions together.  Attention to detail is excellent.  During the renovation, I always had access to the owner ?T? with any questions, concerns or requests.  And if necessary, he met me at my home to discuss in person.  There was some punch work that they completed in a timely matter without complaint.  Our new pool deck is now the most beautiful on the street.  Very happy!  I wish I could attach pictures here.  As a side note, I had my pool deck designed by a professional landscape/hardscape architect which I had Special T Pavers price.  Although, Special T Pavers and probably many other paver companies can work with you on a design from scratch, it?s an architect that can look at your deck from a more creative design point of view.  You may receive lesser quotes than Special T Pavers, but the little bit of premium is well worth the excellent quality, attention to detail, and one source coordination of the demo, paver and pool work.  They did not nickel and dime for unexpected detail changes and I was fairly charged for upgrades.

From the initial visit by Frank for the estimate, I was impressed with his attention to detail and his willingness to make sure the job was done perfectly. I asked that they run a drain line from my gutters to the side lawn under the new walkway and that they line the entire walkway with edging so mulch doesn't spill onto the walkway in heavy rain. Frank suggested placing the stones on their side to accomplish that. They were also very accommodating with the installation date. They started the job on a Tuesday. They demolished the entire driveway and walkway in one day and removed all debris. They also built the forms for the new driveway apron and sidewalk. On Wednesday the city inspectors came to inspect the forms. On Thursday and Friday they laid down all the stone and poured all the concrete. Everything was done perfectly. One of the issues we had with the old walkway was poor drainage.  They pitched the new walkway so that it drains the right way.  The crew was very polite and they cleaned up everything. I was amazed that they got the entire job done in less than a week. I'm a perfectionist and I have yet to find a problem with the work they did.

Getting the survey took two weeks. Getting permission from the HOA, FP&L, and the cable company took another two weeks. It took 10 days to get a permit from the city before the work could be done and another week afterwards to get the approval. That was stressful It took one day to remove the old driveway and walkway. It took two days to put down the pavers. It took another day to seal everything. The result is beautiful.

When we decided to do this project I stopped by the company show room unannounced to look at some samples.  Unlike a competitor that would only let me stop by their showroom with an appointment.  I was greeted in a friendly manner and had most of the basic questions answered knowing the detail would need to be handled on the job site.  I was impressed enough that I scheduled an appointment.  The salesman, Frank Baisi, actually showed up about 10 minutes early for the first appointment.  He was extremely thorough and I could tell he knew his job.  Not at all pushy but expressed the confidence to me that his company could do the job!  I got a total of three estimates.  He was not the cheapest, but far from being the most expensive.  I was originally concerned that the company did not have any "Angie List" references so I asked for several references and thoroughly checked them out.  Everyone had great things to say about this company.  I went ahead and hired the company and on the next trip out, Frank called to apologize that he was running about 5 - 8 minutes late.  That never happens in S. FL.  Before signing the contract he assured me he would be on the job site to get it started, so he could discuss with the installers everything we talked about along with my concerns.  He told me it would take about 4 weeks to secure the permit and order the material before the actual project would take place.  They were right on their mark.  The installers were truly pros.  They approached the job like it was their own home they were working on. Cleaned up at the end of each day. Thoroughly cleaned up the job site when they were finished; hauling off all of the debris.  The job ended up fitting like a glove and the patio drains like it should.  We could not be happier with this company.  I HIGHLY recommend this company for your patio paver/landscape paver contractor.  I can be a fussy kind of person but this job was truly outstanding.
