Downtown Used Furniture

Description of Work: Called for them to appraise for purchase houseful of used furniture. Their offer was 60% of competitor who purchased.

Description of Work: I bought a used bedroom set and a rebuilt mattress and box spring for my son who is at college in Daytona Beach Florida. When I was purchasing the items the management was vert helpful. They delivered the bedroom set and damaged it extensively during delivery. The manager took it back and sold me an alternative set for more money. This happened August of 2011. Now that my son is graduating from college and has to move and no longer needs the furniture, he called Downtown Furniture and ask then to look at the bedroom set to give him a price at which they would buy it back. They stated that they did not have the time to look at it, he would have to Brice the set to their location and they would give him a price they would pay him for the set. My son only lives about 1 mile from their store. He would have to rent a truck and load the furniture on it and then drive to the store for a price. This seemed somewhat ridiculous because if he was offered only $100. For the set, it would not be wise to sell it back to them. Well, they refused to come to his apartment to look at the set. I then called the store and spoke to the manager who was very-very nasty! I asked him if he could have someone please look at the bedroom set and give him a price that they would pay for it. The manager stated that he did not want to do business with me and that I should "TAKE A HIKE". At this point he hung up on me. I called him back and he was quite nasty and he said he did not want to do business with me and had no interest in the bedroom set and didn't want it! He again hung up on me. I suspect that this wisenheimer was thinking that this kid(my son) would bring the bedroom set to the Downtown Furniture store and he would offer him little or nothing for the bedroom set so he could again resell the set at a sizable profit. During my conversation with the managed, I was very polite but be became increasingly arrogant. I have never written a review such as this before, but because of this guy's attitude and business practice, I just has to do something. So , I say, buyer BEWARE!!!!! Do not do any business with this jerk or establishment. They are taking unfair advantage of the struggling college student and probably everyone else that they do business with. Buy your used furniture somewhere else. In the long run it will be to your advantage!
