A Licensed Roofing Co

I interviewed 3 providers and Randy (owner) was by far the most thorough, gave the impression of honestly and integrity, and I felt confident that 1.  they would do the job and do the job well and 2.  the cost would not exceed the estimate.

Their estimate was on the lower end, but the main reason I selected them was because of Randy combined with other positive feedback from Angie's List.  The other vendors were almost condescending in that it was soooo much work and sooo hard (and my guess is that is why they had to charge sooo much!).  Randy treated me intelligently, told me how they were going to it, how much it would cost and that is exactly how it went. 

The job was done as described and at the price quoted.  It was done well, took less than 1/2 day (and would have been quicker if the guys didn't get interrupted by rain) and we are very happy with the result.  They cleaned up well after too with nothing for me to do but admire the sky.  The guys who did the install were very professional and courteous, and when the job was complete they walked me through the entire collection of photos documenting the work tat they did.  They also dealt with the Plantation permitting component for me and all I had to do was sign a few places on the permitting application.

The only negative thing was the punctuality of the guys who installed.  The punctuality of Randy for the estimate was on time (or a few minutes early I think).  I was told multiple times prior to the install date that they liked to start early and would be at my house between 7 and 8 am.  So I arraigned for a different kid drop off to school schedule and stayed home.  The guys were still not here by 9 am.  so I called the office and left a message.  (I never got a call back that morning) At 10:30 am I was just about to send a stern email when the installers called and said they were on their way.  So they were 2.5 hours late.  They did not apologize.  For this reason I give a B for Responsiveness and a C for B for Professionalism and a D for punctuality.

I am still learning that punctuality is a failure of most south Florida vendors - and so I don't knock A Licensed Roofing too much for it and can still strongly recommend them as an overall A.

To the guy's credit - about an hour into working it started to pour rain.  They sat it out patiently, watched the radar on their phones, and as soon as was clear they were back on the roof (now slippery) and continued working away.  The main guy very directly told me - "we are getting your skylights done today no matter what."  They worked fast and clean and they knew I was working from home that day and checked with me every time they were about to make loud noises.  They redeemed themselves with their courtesy.

Bottom line - if you want good work done, and a good price, and have confidence that that you won't be hit by surprises or cost creep - A Licensed Roofing is a great choice, but they need to work on showing up on time.

From the minute Jo, assistant at this company, answered the phone, I was impressed.  The first contact sets the stage for the rest of the interactions. I really liked the fact that this company had a woman as the owner and love that it is a smaller company that actually has employees that do the work and, just as importantly, no sales people that require commissions!  I had another company, also family owned that gave me a similar bid but Sarah Harris, the owner of A Licensed Roofing, gave me a longer warranty and in the estimate they did not put any sketchy language.  I knew they would fix my roof and not come back to me saying the job was bigger, more complicated, longer etc., therefore more expensive.  As it turned out, one of the leaks in my roof was much more extensive yet, they honored the estimate.  Randy Harris came out with Sarah to bid the job out and when it was complete they both came back.  I appreciated their involvement and oversight!  Their workers came when I was told they would arrive  they were all lovely; courteous and respectful.  They left everything perfectly clean and it certainly appears as if they did an excellent job.  Dealing with every single person in this company; from the owner to the workers and office staff was a pleasure!!! 

A Licensed Roofing Co was extremely professional. They kept us informed of progress, were transparent about costs, and made sure our property remained clean. There was minimal mess and we found the entire process to be very convenient! We couldn't be happier!

The project went extremely well.  A Licensed Roofing Company delivered on every promise made from the initial meeting  with Randy and his foreman John to the signing of the contract and the final clean-up. I was initially impressed with their honesty, professionalism and knowledge. I was equally impressed with Sarah on day two when she stopped by to inspect the ceilings to make sure there were no leaks from the previous day's rainstorm.  John and the crew had been forced to stop early and tarp a large area over the southwest section of the house.   Throughout the process, I was kept abreast of what was being done, how it was being done and a timeline that I could easily follow. They answered every question and addressed every concern clearly and concisely and made sure that I was pleased along the way.  I am confident that I received quality work for a fair price. They went above and beyond by providing little extras.   What an amazing company!   They have truly re-newed my faith that there are decent, respectable, professional contractors in South Florida.  I would use them again and would not hesitate to refer them to family, friends and anyone needing roofing services.  Thanks ALRC for a pleasurable experience and beautiful new roof that will last for many years to come.

Randy and John arrived on time and immediately began the repair.  They took pictures and showed me were the leak was.  
They made the repairs and cleaned up.  They were on time and professional.  I would use them again and recommend them 
to neighbors and friends.

Sarah returned my initial weekend call for roof replacement within 24 hours to set up an appointment.  Randy & John came out on Tuesday to take measurements.  A contract was signed on Thur when Randy returned with Sarah.  Unfortunately, they didn't correct my email address in their system so submission of a Homeowner's Association application was delayed a week.  This was partly my fault b/c they DID call me when I didn't respond to their email but I didn't get the message for 3 days.  The Homeowner's Association dilly-dallied around with their approval for about 10 days, delaying work further.  Work finally began about 6 days after Association approval.  John showed up onsite at 7am.  A dead battery prohibited us from clearing a pickup out of the driveway.  John attempted to jump the battery & when attempts failed, his crew pushed the truck out of the way.  They were here for 2 days & completed work up thru the dry-in.  Sarah, Jo & Randy all stopped by at the end of the first work day.  Sarah came back at the end of the 2nd day.  Both times she walked the site to be sure everything was cleaned up and left in an acceptable state.  She took the time to discuss the project with me to be sure I had no questions or concerns.  They did hang a huge advertising banner on the front of the house without asking permission but when we received complaints they hastily took it down.  At that point, we needed 2-3 days of hot weather and another 3-5 days for the tile to be ordered and come in.  And although we did have some rain, it took 15 days before tile was delivered.  A drizzle on the scheduled work day did not deter the crew.  The 1st man was onsite at 7:40am.  Unfortunately, although they started the in-process portion, the inspector refused to get on the roof due to the wet conditions, so they were forced to stop for the day.  The following morning the crew arrived before 8am.  They worked all day to finish the job.  The engineer and the inspector were scheduled for the following morning.
Jo, Sarah, Randy & John are all genuinely good-hearted people who go out of their way to please the customer.  They repeatedly conferred with me throughout the duration to be sure I knew exactly what was happening at all times.  We had no issues or problems during the job.  John was on site the entire time and was readily available for discussion.  Randy is an absolute delight with charmingly impeccable southern manners.  He is honest, fair and acts with integrity.  He tells me the product they use carries a 30-year guarantee so, although I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again, I don't anticipate needing any further roof work for a very long time.

One of the reasons I joined Angie's List was because I was a new homeowner that wanted honest, reputable, and professional contractors working on my home. In my opinion, the only way to get a fair and honest referral is by getting a review from people who have actually experienced working with the contractor.
Now on to MY experience...
I hired A Licensed Roofing Company to replace/upgrade an old skylight to a hurricane impact rated one. They were 1 of 3 different roofing companies I interviewed to get a fair market price for the job; their price was in the middle. The other companies interviewed were Paul Bange Roofing and A Roofing Specialist.
The reason I hired ALRC was primarily knowledge of the repair (I had already did my homework), quality of material (skylight), and my gut instinct :-). During their interview ALRC had a skylight to show as an example of the quality I would be receiving. I also admire the fact that they are owned by a woman. They did a fantastic job. Always kept me in the loop by communicating every step of the job either by email or a phone call. Everyone was pleasant every time we spoke and followed through on their word. If they said they would call, they did. They handled the permits seamlessly AND modified the original contract to include the permits without changing the initial estimate/quote. They even added a complimentary roof certification. :-)
Quality of work...EXCELLENT. If I had not been home and heard them on the roof, I would have never know they were there! I didn't expect perfection because I know we are all human and things happen. Well let me tell you..they were PERFECT. I aint see a piece of roof debris or dirt yet!! 
When it's time to re-roof, I already know who my roofer is going to be. GREAT JOB YOU GUYS!! I am one happy homeowner! ( I attached pictures of their work)

My husband met with Randy on 5/3/14. Randy was friendly and professional.  He inspected the roof and provided a verbal estimate for repair.  Later, a written estimate was provided.  Work began on 5/13 and took a few days due to lots of rain.  We are satisfied with the work.  The roof looks great.  We would hire A Licensed Roofing Company again.

They replaced my roof and did a great job. They explained everything they would do before the job and when payments were due. Everything was done on time and the workmanship was very good.  I was out of town during part of the job and they sent me daily updates by e-mail with photos of the roof as they progressed.  They finished the job on time and everything was complete.  No call backs.  They were even careful not to step on my flowers. I highly recommend them.

RANDY AND JOHN SHOWED UP ON TUESDAY AS PROMISED ON TUESDAY MAY 6TH. .  INSPECTED TILE AND FLAT ROOF AND DISCUSEED WITH US WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE.  THAT EVENING PROVIDED EMAIL WITH DETAILS OF THEIR RECOMMENDATION.  ON WEDNESDAY ABOUT NOON, WE ADVISED THEM TO PROCEED WITH THE JOB.  RANDY STOPPED BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON FOR 50% CHECK DEPOSIT.  THURSDAY MORNING JOHN WAS THERE AND

PROCEEDED TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT.  EVERYTHING WENT AS PROMISED AND VERY PROFESSIONAL.  THE JOB LOOKS GREAT BUT HAS NOT BEEN TESTED WITH ANY HEAVY RAIN SHOWERS YET.  VERY SATISFIED.

My first impression of Randy and his company was fantastic.  Such a professional and a true gentleman.  It was always "Yes Ma'am" whenever he spoke to me and  when he was answering my questions.  He explained all the details and how the job was to be done and the time frame.  The payment plan was drawn out and clearly presented, so I knew days in advance when I needed to have money ready to pay for the job that was being completed.  There were never any surprises.
It was a pleasure speaking and dealing with the President of the Company, Sarah Harris, who is also Randy's wife.  She too was very professional and no question was ever too small to answer.  Doing this type of job was a new experience for me and sometimes I felt my questions were dumb, but I was never made to feel like they were.  It was a true learning experience for me and they led me through the process professionally and honestly.  
I live in a villa also where my neighbor didn't have their side redone, so Randy and his crew made sure they were extremely polite and professional with my neighbors as well.  They kept them informed so they knew exactly what was being done on the roof so they wouldn't be concerned about their side being damaged at all.  It was a difficult situation, but they were able to make my neighbors feel confident in their work so everyone was happy.  
I was at work when the job was being done, but I got updates and calls to keep me posted on what was happening.  When I got home each day after work was done, the place was cleaned up nicely.  After the job was completed, Sarah came out and inspected as well to make sure I was extremely satisfied with the job that was done.  They even encouraged me to go up on the roof to check it out.  So... I did with Sarah and Randy's help I went on my roof and saw the wonderful job they did.  
A few days later I saw some leftover tiles they left in the back of the house that we all missed and then a concern I saw in the front of the house under the overhang.  They came out the next day to take care of those items and to ensure me that if I found anything else they would come back to fix it.  So far, there have been no other issues and I love my new roof.  I am a very satisfied customer.
I would highly recommend this husband and wife owned company to anyone who needs a roof repair or a new roof.  They are very professional and honest as are all the workers they employ.

Everything went very smoothly. Randy and staff are professional and they do quality work for a reasonable price. Randy was straight forward and prompt to provide a quote on site and let me know what options were available to fix my roofs. They guaranteed all their work with a 5 year warranty providing peace of mind after such a significant investment in my house. I'd definitely call them again for future roofing needs.

A Licensed Roofing Co. arrived early and started by putting tarps on the ground around where they would be working so that no materials would fall on our walkways or patio. They started tearing off the old roof and took pictures of the rotten wood to show me what had to be replaced.  They worked hard all day and made sure all materials that fell on the ground were cleaned up.  Everything went smoothly and the inspections were done and passed easily.  I am very pleased with both the work performed and the company.  I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a new roof..

A Licensed Roofing is a very Professional Company.  The relationship started with the first point of contact with Randy Harris.  He was very attentive and asked all of the right questions.  He immediately accessed the needs and requirements of my inquiry. Randy then took the time to actually visit the site, prepare a proposal and send it over for my review.  Other contractors never followed up, nor did they provide me with any professionally written proposals, I had to do all the work.
Also I must note that the Office Staff was extremely accommodating as well and very Professional.
I am extremely busy between work and children and after school activities, so I am not the easiest to get a hold of nor am I easy to get on someone's schedule.  Due to this, Randy was very patient and worked with me until I was able to get a break in my time to get the job scheduled.
I chose to use A Licensed Roofing due to their all around customer Service and past reviews from other customers rating them as excellent.  In this day and age where there are so many companies to choose from, I feel that A Licensed Roofing is going above and beyond to earn the business, provide quality work and do what it takes to make the customer happy.
I also had a conversation with the Owner Sarah, who is extremely personable and down to earth.  She really takes pride in the business and wants to ensure everyone on staff does as well.
One Last important note to mention is that A Licensed Roofing took the time cover and protect my property while doing the installation.  Upon leaving the site they cleaned up everything and left the site clean and free of debris.
I want to say thank you to the Team and keep up the great quality work.

Randy and John were very friendly, answered all questions.  Their price was in the middle of the 6 estimates I received.  They scheduled the job within a few days of accepting their bid.  They called before coming out and arrived when they stated they would.  They did the job in a few hours and cleaned up all materials.  They were even able to match any broken tiles with my existing tiles perfectly, so you can't even tell work was done.  Would definitely use them again.

This is THE company to call for all of your roofing needs. They perform great quality work at the best prices This is not your average roofing company. They use quality equipment and and materials and don't cut corners. I have a very old roof that is delicate but I can't yet afford a new one. I couldn't hire just anyone because without the proper equipment or experience they can break tiles as do even more damage. This company has maintained my roof for me way past its life time by performing a thorough job. They take their time and are experienced and when they leave I know my roof is 100 perfect ready for the rain. The prices are very fair for the quality work they perform, but most importantly, you can trust the work! I would highly recommend them. They are reliable and punctual and the employees are professional and courteous. If you need a minor repair or a new roof, this is the company to call to ensure you will have a quality job every time at a fair price.

The work was completed in a timely manner and the installation looks good and is leak free. They're quote was less than half of another contractor I contacted.

This is a rather interesting experience.  I recently had a leak in my roof that was dripping into the master bedroom.  I contacted a couple of roofers off of Angies List for estimates and I was most impressed by A Licensed Roofing.  They initialliy came out on a Friday to fix the leak which they indicated was coming from the chimney area of the roof.  They completed the job in about 3 hours.  That night, during a rain storm, the leak began again.  I called the answering machine at A Licensed Roofing and left a message that I still had the leak.  To my surprise, the owner Randy Harris, called me back that evening and indicated he would have a team out the next day.  As promised they returned the next day and continued to track the leak which they had thought was fixed.  To make a long story short, for whatever reason, the leak kept moving and required A Licensed Roofing to come back a total of 6 times in 3 weeks.  Ordinarily, I would be disappointed in their abiltiy to fix my problem.  However, I can honestly say that I have never used a service company that was a responsibe, professional, punctual and stood by their work as this one.  Every time I called they immediately responded and made every effort to track what was a very pesky leak source.  They flooded the roof and went into the attic each time to find the source.  Eventually, they were able to fix the problem (which actually turned out to be several different leak areas) and didn't even consider charging me anything extra.  They never  complained or gave me any issue regarding the call backs.  I'm not sure why the leak was so difficult to find, but I am very impressed with A Licensed Roofing's integrity and customer responsiveness (two very difficult qualities to find in the roofing industry).  The bottom line is they fixed my problem regardless of what it took to get it done.

This is the second time I use this roofing company.  The first time was last May 2013.  I did get other bids on this job and found that A Licensed Roofing was reasonable as well as knowledgeable about the work to be done.  I would use them again.

I agreed to the price.
One man went in the attic and the other on the roof.
The one in the attic identified the leak coming in through the rusty nails and told the man on the roof.
An hour later, they were done.
I didn't see the work but they told me they had done the work.
Turns out they just tarred over the nails and didn't repair according to their proposal.
How do I know?
With the recent heavy rains, my roof leaked again in the same place.
I had it repaired by J&K (from your recommendation) who pulled up all the tiles.
This time, I went on the roof after they pulled all the tiles off and they showed me no evidence of work was done in the area except some tar painted on some nails!!!
J&K then re-covered the entire area and replaced the tiles.
