Interior Design Matters

All went well in the beginning. We were considering a kitchen remodel, hired Blair to consult if raising our partial wall to accommodate taller cabinets would look appropriate or would have negative impact on our open floor plan/vaulted ceilings. We paid for drawings to see what it would look like and she did a great job and decided to move to next step. She came back with her contractor to look at what needed to be done and discuss what our needs/wants/likes were, looking at pinterest and houzz images. She advised next step to get overall estimates, we would need to have designs/architectural drawings created which could cost $2000. I also had homework to do to determine what type of cooking appliance - range or cooktop/wall oven, so we were exchanging emails for a few weeks. In my last email update about the appliances I also asked a question that was a concern of my husbands. If we spent the $2000 on the diagrams and then decided not to proceed at that time (maybe it cost more $ and we needed to save more $) would we own the diagrams and be able to use them going forward with her or someone else if we didn't change anything. I never heard another word from her, I could only assume she didn't like the question. After a couple weeks I was going to call her to see why she didn't respond, but then I decided that if she was that sensitive, I would prefer to find someone else. Professionally, she should have responded at least saying yes or no and why. I don't think it was too unrealistic to not want to waste $2k. It all worked out for the best, demo starts on our new kitchen May 8, and to get the drawings/estimates from this company was $300.

Very well. We were VERY pleased with the outcome!

It went well.  Blair asked for pictures of rooms/furniture we liked and offered suggestions with our preferences in mind.  She listened well and seldom made suggestions that conflicted with our taste.

Blair did an incredible job of designing my condo. Her services began when I first purchased a space that was very outdated in terms of interior design. Without any design background of my own, I was overwhelmed with the prospect of choosing colors and creating a livable space. Blair took the time to really listen to me, and to understand how I wanted to inhabit the condo, including how I wanted to feel in my home. She took my particular needs and lifestyle to heart, and managed to create a color palette that incorporated a Caribbean theme that included both soft and strong hues. My taste can be somewhat ?over the top? sometimes, and Blair was able to work with me to choose tones that were bright, but also soothing. Truly she is a magician with color. Blair also helped me to place furniture, artwork and accents, and organize my home office. Her talents helped make my condo a home where I felt comfortable and relaxed. Literally every person that enters the condo "oohs and ahhs" over the design. In addition to her design talents, Blair did a great job of coordinating service people, working within my budget and getting work completed on time. I highly recommend her for both professional and residential design.

I had a great experience. Looking at my before and after pictures it's hard to believe they show the same space. Blair Hensley sketched out a number of possibilities for how I could change the furnishings (in many cases just moving existing pieces), change colors and clean up the living and dining rooms. The color change alone made a huge difference, but the real joy of my new space is in the details - how a mirror in one area seems to enlarge the room, how changes in color tones give added depth and dimension to the living room and how what seemed at the time to be a daring change of color in the dining area in fact makes it a much more energetic and vibrant space. The biggest change in the look and feel of the living room came from adding wonderful draperies that she had custom made. Changing out louvered blinds for wonderfully textured curtains has totally altered the feel of the living space and made it a much more satisfying place to be. I couldn't be happier with the changes, and couldn't have made them without the assistance of a designer with a wonderful eye and a sensitivity to my budget and time frame. I've recommended Blair's services to many friends who never thought they needed or could afford an Interior Designer before they met her.

A friend that used her had recommended her to us. We have been very happy with her. We have done quite a bit of interior work on the house with her. We wish she were a little less expensive on some of the things.
