Kodner, established in 1906 is a fifth generation auction gallery located in Dania Beach, Florida. Starting in Chicago the business moved to south Florida in the 1970s. At our current city block-long location since 1974, the gallery is a well-known fixture in Dania Beach. Conveniently located 5 minutes south of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on US-1 (Federal Hwy), Kodner Galleries is within easy access from I-95 and Florida's Turnpike between Miami and Palm Beach and serves the Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach tri-county area and beyond. Kodner is the leading south Florida auction gallery with over 100 years of experience buying, selling, appraising and consigning for sale quality art, bronze and marble sculpture, gold, silver, estate jewelry, porcelains, antiques, furniture, rugs, and more. We are a customer oriented full service gallery serving private individuals, estates, attorneys, trust departments, banks, insurance companies, families of seniors, dealers and interior designers. Russ Kodner, President of Kodner Galleries, Inc. is a certified gemologist and a member of the Gemological Institute of America (G.I.A.). Russ will professionally appraise your fine estate jewelry and provide expert advice as to current value. Our appraisal staff will evaluate a single item or entire estate and will professionally handle every aspect to accommodate your individual requirements. Kodner conducts approximately 20 general auction sales per year of fine art, paintings, sculpture, antiques, Chinese porcelains and jades, fine and estate jewelry, silver, furniture, rugs and more. We also feature two to three specialty jewelry and gift auctions in February prior the Valentine’s Day and a mid-December Holiday sale. Our yearly auction schedule is posted at our home page. When the coins arrived it was clear that they were counterfeit (copies) of the original coins. Nowhere was this noted in the auction (even though it would be obvious to the auctioneer). When confronted, they initially would do nothing about it. Eventually they promised to refund me and stop selling the coins. However, they actually only offered a partial refund (still waiting for this) and they still sell the counterfeit coins without disclosing they are copies. This is a deceptive practice that is fraud.
Description of Work: This auction house was selling several lots of old chinese currency (coins). I was excited to see these as they are rare and were in good condition.

Response from Kodner Galleries
Mr. [Member Name Removed] has made several on-line purchases at Kodner Galleries' sister gallery Estate Auction Company. Included in his purchases were several lots of coins described as "Chinese silver color coins". The lot sizes of Chinese coins varied from 24 to 120 coins each. The pre-auction estimates on the lots of the Chinese coins ranged from $10.00 to $20.00 per lot. Mr. [Member Name Removed] paid approximately $1.25 to $13.00 per coin for the Chinese coins purchased. The coins in question were consigned to Estate Auction Company as Chinese coins. A search prior to cataloging the coins resulted in finding similar examples offered on-line as "Chinese coins". Estate Auction Company and Kodner Galleries has every good faith reason to believe the coins are in-fact Chinese. As to the claim of selling 'counterfeit' coins, the coins were specifically described as "silver color", no denomination and no dates were listed. Photos of the coins were provided on-line. There was no effort to deceive. Moreover, Estate Auction Company and Kodner Galleries both encourage any on-line bidder to contact the gallery prior to the auction with any questions they might have prior to bidding. There is no record indicating Mr. [Member Name Removed] availed himself of this service. Contrary to Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s assertions, neither Estate Auction Company nor Kodner Galleries knowingly sells 'counterfeit' items. We do sell thousands of items every year to buyers world-wide and make every effort to accurately describe items offered. Moreover, we stand behind every item sold to be as described. If any buyer presents our galleries with documentation by a recognized authority stating an item purchased is not as described we will refund the purchase price. Mr. [Member Name Removed] has produced no such documentation yet refers to the coins in question as 'counterfeit' with little more than his lay opinion to bolster his assertion. He also boldly alleges felonious criminal conduct on the part of Estate Auction Company as well as Kodner Galleries and has threatened further unspecified action and requested additional monies beyond a full refund if his demands are not met "by the close of business today". Since learning of Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s complaint today and in an effort to amicably resolve the matter Russ Kodner, President of Kodner Galleries made numerous attempts to contact Mr. [Member Name Removed] personally and has offered to refund Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s purchase price contingent upon return of the coins in question.
