Horrible service, unit is only 16 months old. Paid over $1200. Repair over $600, blamed the world, but never took responsibility for their lousy equipment

The repair man spent 5 minutes and determined that the compressor was clicking off by the starter. No attempt was made to repair. Did not need to pay for someone to tell me its not working. Guess they were more than happy to sell a new one. They give a quote for a new unit with free delivery. I also assume they will pick up the old unit (to sell). Looking inside the back, the starter relay was left unplugged and hanging, nothing was replaced, the backing was ripped off the screws in most of the spots. A neighbor looked at it and determined that a new starter relay was all it needed. He purchased one and replaced it. Works great now. This is a common problem with refrigerators and if a service person does not know how to repair it, they should not be in the business.

In my opinion, Randy Maggard, VP of Sonny's Discount Appliances, used deceptive business practices in that he failed to offer extended warranties on my appliances at the time of purchase and he avoided my calls and emails when I tried to purchase warranties. He told me via email that I had up to one year to purchase warranties. After I told him I actually wanted to purchase warranties, months went by with him avoiding my calls and emails. I wrote a complaint to Thermador for their assistance, and he changed his story when they contacted him by saying extended warranties must be purchased within 6 months of the date of purchase. I paid for the appliances in Feb of 2013 because naturally they must be purchased in advance of moving into a newly constructed house. Appliance repair is very expensive and I have been left holding the bag with no recourse. I recommend that anyone interested in purchasing extended warranties purchase them in conjunction with the appliances or he will refuse to sell them to you.

I purchased a complete package of kitchen appliances. I had shopped extensively on-line and at several major appliance stores in the area. I was unable to find a refrigerator that would fit the space for a reasonable price. At Sonny's, the salesperson listened and went the extra mile to find the right refrigerator and put together a package that worked. Delivery was scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (not between 1-4), and they arrived at 1:58 p.m. I am very pleased with the service and the product and recommend that you consider Sonny's for your next appliance purchase.

In some respects, Sonny's Discount Appliances are very good and in other respect's they're not. I'm not sure if it's the company or just the workers who come out. They quoted me a repair at $650.00 and I ended up doing it myself for $74.00. They wanted to replace all my duct work, and I just replaced what was needed. Most of the time, when I deal directly with the owner, I get excellent service. So I don't know if there's something going on with their service personnel or anything. The owner has come out after hours and on the weekends himself to help me out and didn't even charge us extra for us. He's a great guy and I consider him a friend. I base my ratings on the work I have gotten from the owner. They do quality work. They're usually punctual and are here when they say they're going to be. If they're going to be a little late, they'll call you and tell you.

I have been living with no air conditioner for some time because the cost I had been quoted by another company was too high. Sonny's installed a better unit for less. Thanks to them my summer will be cool. I would recommend then any day.

My air conditioner would not cool the house or provide any cooling at all. I called Sonny's Discount Appliances because my neighbor who lives a few doors down worked there at the time. When I called for someone to inspect my system, an appointment was made for the next day. A gentleman arrived and after a brief discussion, he said that I needed a new system as the home was built in 1996 and the unit was already fifteen years old and fixing it would just mean more expensive problems in the not-to-distant future. So I had them install a new heat pump system to replace the old one. The job was completed and the Sales/Installer left with the words and quot;If you have any problems, just give us a calland quot;. The receipt says One year labor and ten years parts. (See attached photo of receipt).
The outside compressor started making noise the other day and the evaporator in the garage started leaking. I called for service and all they could say was and quot;If we don't find anything wrong, you will be charged for a service calland quot;. Someone will call you back to set up an appointment. Same disclaimer: and quot;If we don't find anything wrong, you will be charges for a service calland quot;. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.... It seems that the warranty doesn't cover labor.
I spoke with my neighbor who used to work there. and quot;Oh no!and quot; he said. and quot;I wish that you had checked with me before you called them. They're the last place that you want to buy fromand quot;! WHAT? I won't repeat the rest of the things he told me. It wouldn't be fair to the company. I'll stick with first hand experiences.
So far, the unit hasn't been in a year and already I'm getting grief from the installer. Would I deal with them again? No. Not with their attitude. They couldn't do enough when they were delivering the sales pitch, but like so many fly-by-night companies I've dealt with in the past, the hand is always out if you have a problem. Whether this company turns out to be that type of business or not, I will let you know next week when the service tech comes by. Until then the above has been my experience. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: I made an appointment for Monday 5/7/12. I tried to set a time and was told that the service department would contact me on Monday morning. No call. I called them and left a message. No return call. I called again at around 10AM. Salesman said he couldn't do anything. Service people already left. Unprofessional and inconsiderate. Service man got here around noon. He said that the drain line was clogged and proceeded to clean it out. Said to pour a cup of bleach in the drain once a month and it should stay clear. Why didn't they say that when they installed the unit? As far as the noisy unit goes, he said that after about a year the unit gets a lot more noisy. Really?!!! I wonder why they didn't tell me that when they installed the new unit? Another $91.00. bill (See attached). They would NOT honor warranty. My recommendation for anyone considering Sonny's Discount Appliance is DON'T DO IT!!!
UPDATE II: TODAY, 5/12/12 - I WENT INTO THE GARAGE AND HEARD A GURGLING SOUND. IT WAS THE EMERGENCY AIRCONDITIONER EVAPORATOR OVERFLOW DRAIN LINE RUNNING INTO A BUCKET . (SEE PHOTO) THIS IS LESS THAN ONE WEEK AFTER THE SERVICEMAN CHARGED ME NEARLY A HUNDRED BUCKS FOR CLEANING THE DRAIN LINE!!! I'LL FIGURE A WAY TO CLEAN IT OUT MYSELF. THE RIGHT WAY! THANKS SONNY'S. NEVER AGAIN!

I ORDERED THE PRODUCTS THROUGH THEM AND PAID WITH MY DEBIT CARD AND THEY PROMISED THAT IF I FOUND THE SAME ITEMS FOR LESS, THEY WOULD BEAT THE PRICE. I DID COME ACROSS THE SAME PRODUCTS AT A HOME SUPPLY STORE FOR LESS, SO I CALLED THEM ON IT THE SAME DAY I PLACED THE ORDER. THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE COST, SO I TOLD THEM I WANT MY MONEY BACK AND TO CANCEL THE ORDER OUT OF PRINCIPAL. THEY GAVE ME THE RUNAROUND AND TOLD ME I'D HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE CASHIER TO COME IN THE MORNING, SHE ALSO GAVE ME THE RUNAROUND AND I KEPT GETTING SENT FOR A LOOP. FINALLY, I FILED COMPLAINTS WITH A FEW AGENCIES AND THEY DID REFUND MY MONEY, BUT IT WAS A HASSLE AND TOOK OVER 30 DAYS TO GET MY MONEY BACK. I LEARNED THAT IN FLORIDA, THE CONSUMER HAS 3 BUSINESS DAYS TO CANCEL ANY ORDER AND THE COMPANY HAS TO RETURN YOUR MONEY BY LAW.
