Beware of this unsafe McSuba shop (American Pro Dive Center @Crystal River)... Rude... Unsafe... oh and Rude! We had a really unpleasant experience at American Pro Dive Center a few months ago. A friend of ours recommended the shop to us and we took his advice on our last trip. At first we were impressed with the shop and we really enjoyed one of the young ladies that helped us out and even had the pleasure of getting help from a really enthusiastic customer who apparently frequents the shop. So, everything was good until... We had the misfortune of being forced to interact with another young lady a red head girl who interjected herself in the transaction needlessly and surprisingly since you could tell she was troubled by everything! She was so blatantly bothered by us/life that we had to even laugh privately when she was not looking. It was clear her customer service skills (or complete lack of) were even making the other shop girl uncomfortable but we pressed on to get the gear so we could get into the water. As I said... we were in the shop because it was recommended that I use them for my rentals primarily because our dive location was only a few minutes away from the spot where we thought we would be able to dive. I told them that I had a new diver with me and asked if the location was a good/safe spot to take her, I was told it was. So, we rented gear and I asked for directions to the location and the nice girl was like "sure I will give you a little map" in the middle of starting to draw it... the red head girl interrupted her and informed us it was only a few minutes away and that we "we would find it" and then just looked at us like... anything else? We just completed the transaction and went looking for the spot... we drove the 5/10 minutes "looking" before we found the location and discovered it was not suitable or even safe for a new diver and we returned immediately to the shop with the intentions of finding another near by location to dive. I explained it was not safe and that the dive location was a boating area (no flags), it was dirty and the slim was at thick as the water. Sadly, we soon discovered they didn't care that we didn't have a good and safe location near by for a novice. We also discovered that no other location was near enough for our needs. Sadly since we couldn't dive safely I had to scrub the mission and I asked for a refund since we had only had the equipment for a matter of 20 minutes or so... the nice young girl informed me that "normally" they didn't do that but since we had only had the gear for a few minutes it may be OK... so she asked the angry young lady (like I could not have guessed her answer) who quickly refused and again showed absolutely NO concern for our desire to have a safe dive, scary from a dive shop! It was like she enjoyed the angst of not helping. I have made three attempts by email to resolve the issue and have called four times. I am told they didn't get the email, they will call me back... no manager is in the shop... I have got nothing back at all. Diving is or can be a dangerous sport and you want a shop that will be safe and have a genuine interest in your safety. I called them McScuba because they appear to bang out divers like cheeseburgers at McDonald's and have no concern for safety. Do your self a favor and if you are in the area pick one of the several other dive shops on the same road but save yourself the experience and don't go to McScuba AKA... American Pro Dive Center!
Description of Work: We were told it was a good place to go to get education and gear for scuba... they were wrong!
