I hired Dixon to do a few handyman work around one of my rental apartments. It went well. The second time I hired him to secure the frame around A/C grill and secure a couple of lamps to the ceiling at the same apartment. He quoted $150 plus material and I agreed. Later that day, the tenant called me and reported that Dixon asked for additional $120 from the tenant for the ceiling lamps, and she paid him, unaware that it was included in the work quote. Nonetheless, I called and his explanation was that he did more than he expected. He also texted me his receipt for material, which was $17.92 including tax. I asked him to email me his invoice for payment. When I received it, the invoice was higher than the original quote, no material included, but taxed at 7% - which is illegal to apply tax to service work (not material). Then he started texting and calling relentlessly (17 times in 2 hours of sending the invoice), which was quite annoying. He does not have his mailing address for payments on his invoice. He said he needs to work with the "technical department" to correct that. With so many qualified and ethical (asking for additional monies from the tenant was inexcusable), I would suggest that people look elsewhere for handyman services.

"The first and second jobs with this client (REALTOR) were successfully completed like all of our jobs. The client (REALTOR) hired us to replace the AC frame and check the lamps that made a noise. The AC frame was successfully replaced and the lamps were checked and the screws that were loose were tightened, so when the AC turned on they emitted a noise. The lamps were working perfectly. The TENANT was satisfied with the work, a moment later the TENANT said that they did not like the lamps, he went and bought 3 new lamps to install, I told the TENANT that this would generate a new cost, she accepted and we proceeded to the installation that was finished successfully. The client (REALTOR) was upset because he charged the TENANT for the installation of the new lamps. Making the offended by the new charge to her tenant and an error in the billing that gave about 5 or 6 dollars more than the real value, in the end she did not pay for the work completed successfully. I do not recommend this client because she runs the risk of not charging her money for the work done."
