Absolutely the worst experience we have ever had with a contractor in 40 years of home ownership. Sit down, this is going to be long. First, the 6 set of very expensive sliding doors that THEY ordered did not fit our openings!!! When my husband complained, they said they could not send them back as they were special ordered. It took hours for my husband to get anyone to figure out what to do. Berger finally decided to cut out the 6 openings and stucco the outside. We had the porch painted and the bricks replaced two weeks prior in anticipation of both screens and sliding doors being installed. See review for American Screens that I wrote...they were fantastic. The outside porch had to be repainted and WE had to provide the paint!!! (Let me repeat..."WE did not measure the openings, Bergers "salesperson" did). This caused the painted stucco inside the home to fall off. (we have to pay someone to repaint as these geniuses are not responsible for the inside). They did not properly cover the outside furniture and the inside and there was stucco dust and grey stucco everywhere!!! On one of the sliding doors they did not measure the height for the handle and because it was near the kitchen counter they just left the handle on the counter. (remember, THEY measured, not us!!!) But truly, the best part of this supposed 3 day installation that took 3 weeks, they said the wrong locks were ordered on three of the sliding doors and we would have to wait for them to be delivered......so, wait for it......we had NO LOCKS on 2 of our sliding doors for 3 days and 2 nights. Needless to say I did not sleep for 2 nights (I work full time). Oh, but there is more. We had thousand of dollars of aluminum hurricane shutter that now no longer fit the openings and had to be removed. My husband agreed to their removal if they would take 2 of them and install them on a relatives sliding door openings nearby. Here is the best part. They installed one and left the other because they said it did not fit. Of course the installers kept our other hurricane shutters and did not try to see if any of those would fit.....wait for it.....before they left they ate lunch at the outdoor porch table and left their trash and chicken bones in the stray cat bowls outside!!!!! I am not kidding!!!!!! It doesn't end there.....the hurricane shutters had left holes in the bricks on the porch and we had to pay to replace them also. The end to this incompetent nightmare was the workers left trash and debris all over and to remove the remaining hurricane shutters they had to remove one of the new screens. I have pictures of all of the above and will be uploading them soon. I just didn't want to wait any longer as it has taken me almost 6 months to post this as the anger is just overwhelming. Anyway this was an extremely expensive lesson we won't soon forget!

I received many quotes to make sure I was getting the best for the best price. I decided to go with Berger Windows and Doors due to the professionalism in how they handled all my questions and concerns. They are also a PGT dealer, some other companies tried to offer me material from other manufactures that I have never heard about. Once the material was in after around 6 weeks from signing day they called to schedule my job. The crew was very nice and tried their best to maintain everything as clean as possible. In all the job was done to my standards and I am pleased with work. I no longer have to deal with shutters.

overall I would give them a C only because the windows and doors are a very good quality or I would give them a D-  Their install was fair at best. Some windows slide very easy and some slide very hard. I addressed this with them they came and made some adjustments but said this is the best they could do and some still operate hard. Some Windows bounce when they roll open. This is due to the caulking they used to seal the mounting screws. They put so much caulk it went onto the track the Windows slide on so the Windows bounce when the roll over the caulking. One of my sliding glass doors the screen is too wide and it extends past the door so bugs can get into my house. When they installed the screens I told them it was too large and they blew me off. I've talked to Alcue (owner) about this for the last 6 months and he always replies I'll look into it and call you back. Guess what I never get a call back.

They originally priced 7/16" glass but once the job went to engineering they said I needed 9/16" glass for the large Windows and the sliding glass doors to meet Miami-Dade code. This would cost approximately $2,000 additional.  Recently the glass broke in one of the sliding glass doors. At this point I discovered they used 7/16" glass and not the 9/16" glass I paid for. I asked about this and Alceu (owner) told me he ordered 9/16" and the manufacture must of used 7/16" and each manufactures glass is slightly different and not exactly to size. He then told me I have to inquire about the glass size being wrong with the manufacture. With very little options I proceeded with the glass replacement. When they ordered the glass they copied me In the email to the manufacture and they ordered 7/16" replacement glass. If they originally order 9/16" why did they order 7/16" for the replacement glass?

From the first day that I met Alex when he came to my home to give me an estimate he was very personable and very professional. Alex is an easy person to talk to and understood exactly what I wanted in purchasing my doors and windows. I gave him the deposit and he explained the total process of how they would be ordered to time of installation. Two men were sent to my home to do the installation. Alceu and Sammy. These two men installed all windows and doors in 5 days. I was amazed at their work ethics, cleanliness, and attention to detail. My new windows made a great difference in the security and aesthetic look of my home. Their price was the best of 5 companies, and am totally happy with the service and quality. I would recommend Berger to anyone looking for impact windows for their home. Thanks guys, you are fantastic.
