Tony is a very nice man. Showed up for work very early along with another laborer. The main work was done in a day. It took a few more days for the finish work to be completed. Make sure you are very clear on the work to be performed. I asked him to build me a Mailbox. I provided the Cinder Blocks, mailbox, flag, and numbers and told him I wanted it painted the same as our house (we provided the paint too). He had to purchase only a few items, concrete, stucco, liquid nails and a few screws.
When he came to our door and told me he was almost finished and wanting his pay. I asked him when he was going to paint it and put the numbers and flag on it. He was ready to be paid and said he told me he only agreed to "build" me a mailbox not paint it. I reminded him of our conversation telling him I specifically told him I had the paint and wanted it painted the same as the house and that I don't make payment until the work is complete. He agreed to paint and finish the other details but requested partial payment. I agreed to partial payment figuring if he didn't finish it we could finish it ourselves and keep the rest of the money. He was ill for a couple of days but within the week he came and completed the work and I made final payment. I wish he would have paid a little more attention to detail and cleanup.
NOTE: Also, when I asked if they put some roof tiles on the top (we would provide the tiles), he said he doesn't do roof work and would have to hire a roofer to come and do it -- which I thought was a little ridiculous since it was only a few roof tiles to be placed on top.
NOTE 2: I also told him I noticed he was on Angie's List but didn't see any reviews for him, he said he gets enough work through word of mouth from his customers.
