Highland Grove

Diana Howell consulted with us to determine how our yard would be used, our plant preferences, and who would maintain the landscaping after it was completed. As an avid gardener, I was very particular about what types of plant materials would be used. Ms. Howell worked with us to create a design that was exactly what we wanted and that was far more artistic than we could have imagined. Her husband Greg oversaw the removal of the unwanted plants and trees, clean-up of the area, installation of an emitter irrigation system; and, planting, fertilizing, and mulching the new plants. I had a ceramic pot I wanted to preserve, and Mr. Howell painstaking removed the old gardenia whose roots had grown through it the bottom and far into the ground.

We could not be more pleased with the design, the service and the quality of the materials.  The project was started and completed on time and on budget - no surprises.  They were very responsive to our concerns, and were willing to work with some of the existing plantings to keep the costs down.  The crew are clearly pros, and were so neat and tidy during the three day project.  They gave us detailed information on care and feeding of every planting.  Very professional in every respect....we highly recommend them and will be using them again.

At first we didn't pick up on how he was doing his work, sure he cut the grass mind you we started him in Dec, so we really didn't get a chance to see how good he was until the growing season. It was then that we started seeing the work he was doing, first he was racing through our property like he was at a race and had to get onto his next appointment, it was then that problems started to show up,then he wasn't edging properly and then and this is the worst, he wasn't trimming our shrubs properly. to give you an example when he trimmed our hedges we gave him a height guide line using our pool screen bar as the height level. I was shockedhow he was doing the trimming, when he trimmed he would scim the hedges taking very little off, when it came to the middle of Sept. one of our hedges was so over grown that it covered half the sidewalk, on the other side of my property another hedge he did the same thing with the height and not only that he wasn't trimming the back side of the hedge. when we approached him about it his excuse was he thought it belonged to the neighbors, the right thing he should have done was ask us if it was ours or not. may be  I'm being overly critical, but with in the last 7 yrs. I've never ran into a problem like that. he just didn't come up to our expectations Would I hire him back I don't think so, not only was his work questionable he also was the highest Landscaper I've ever paid, not worth the extra $ 50.00

Project went fantastic and turned out better than I ever dreamed. Diana had many great suggestions beyond what I had imagined which really pulled the entire yard together. Additionally she was able to reuse may of the plants I already had in the yard and assisted me in finding savings wherever possible. They were also accommodating in doing the plan in phases. We actually broke it up into two phases that were 6 months apart in completion.
Overall experience was wonderful and will not hesitate to contact Highland Grove when I'm ready to update the front yard.

He came out was on time, cut, edged, trimmed my lawn. It looks great and frees up a lot of my time on the weekends..

Diana and Greg were wonderful, professional, easy to work with , and most knowledgeable. Diana provided a unique plan taking into consideration my likes,dislikes and needs. Greg made sure it was executed. Patrick designed and installed the pergola. He is truly an expert wood craftsman. The crew who installed pavers, sprinklers and plants were efficient and very courteous. All materials were cleaned up after each step was completed. All questions and concerns during project were addressed and resolved in a prompt manner. I can only say positive remarks about this company and their work. I highly recommend them and am so glad I made the decision to entrust and invest in this large project using their expertise and experience.

Loran comes to my home on a weekly basis, first he mows the property, then edges and goes over the property with the blower paying particular attention to the side walks and driveway making sure there's no grass lying around and on about a monthly basis he trims my shrubs pulling any noticeable weeds out as he goes around the property. I was a little skeptical but he's looking better and better every time I see him.

Diana was a great partner in providing suggestions for how to best revamp my backyard for maximum impact with minimal maintenance. She listened very well to what I was looking for and integrated my needs and her ideas seamlessly. The Highland Grove crew was quick and efficient installation. Additionally, they worked with me to do the install in phases. Phase 1 was completed in November and we will be executing phase 2 this summer. I am extremely satisfied with my overall experience.

I am so incredibly happy with the job that was done for me. I wanted a fairly low maintenance, hardy and tropical landscape.  That is just what I received.  Being an Illinois girl, I had no idea what would survive in the Florida heat and was clueless as to what would require extensive maintenance and what would be easier for me to care for. Diana Howell, President of Highland Grove, met with me, walked my neighborhood with me so I could point out the type of plants and trees that I like, listened to my preferences and concerns (I do NOT have a green thumb!), and created a landscape design that I could never have done on my own. 

We went over the plants she recommended I use and made a few changes based on personal preferences but still using her recommendations as to what would give me the look I wanted and still survive.  I had also wanted pavers installed on my sidewalk and porch and a small paver patio in my backyard.  Diana recommended a paving company, Maior, to do that work for me and coordinated the landscaping with the paving installation directly with Maior. Her husband, Greg, was at my home for both of the days it took to complete the job.  He not only supervised his crew but worked side by side with them. 

His attention to detail and pride in his work is something you do not find very often anymore.  He provided me instructions on everything I would need to do to care for my trees and plants and how to avoid some of the issues that come up by not applying the correct fertilizer and weed inhibitor as well as the appropriate way to put mulch around your plants (who knew there was more to mulching than just dropping bark everywhere!!!)

At the end of the job, Diana came to my home and walked me through everything that had been done to make sure I was happy and that they met my expectations, which they did!! She also went over the care and maintenance of my new landscape with me. I did not give them a big job, but they treated me as though I was every bit as important as their larger customers. I cannot believe how amazing everything looks and am so glad I invested in a professional landscaper.  Diana and Greg make a wonderful team.  There is no way I could have achieved these results if I had tried to do it on my own.

My neighbor had used Highland Grove for some extensive landscaping, and been happy with their work.  This let me also see the quality of their plant materials (excellent) and the manner of their work (exemplary.)  For her job, the crew had to route some drain lines through my property, and even with the sizable excavation involved, at the end you would never have known they'd been there.  I had no concerns for them to do this small job for me.

The actual work on my property took less than 2 hours, and the results are everything I had hoped for.  The tree is quite large and healthy, and a much better fit for our tiny space than what the Gum would have been over time.  I would not hesitate to use or recommend Highland Grove for any work you have done.  Really excellent!

They leveled our backyard and removed the weeds. I sit in our backyard now! From the get go, they are very responsive. Diana draws up the plans, and she was wonderful. We had to get it approved, and Diana knew all the ins and outs.  Greg handles all the planting, and he takes his time, answers questions. I would recommend them.

We have used Highland Grove several times and always had prompt professional service. I would recommend them and use them again.

They were great!  Everything went well.  I would use them again in a heartbeat.  They were very, very good.  Diana was very good to work with, she took a lot of time with us.  One gentleman even came on a Sunday to make sure everything was done right.  They made sure the plants weren't just thrown in.  They gave us suggestions after the job was done as well.
