My husband called for repair of our 10 year
Frigidaire Gallery Series Stove. He gave them the model # and serial # and
explained that the dual elements of the 2 front burners were not working on the
"small element" setting. Parts were ordered and the repairman came on time..
He had the wrong parts. We were told that there would be a "restocking
fee" of 25% of the price of the elements and the correct elements would be
almost 200.00 each plus 1/2 hour labor at $85.00. New total for repair,
(including re-stocking fee), would now be well over $500.00. We felt that this
was too much to repair a stove that was purchased new for around $700.00.
We decided to replace the stove. They told us to come into the store the
following day and they would waive the re-stocking fee if we purchased a new
stove from them. We went to the store and found 4 employees who seemed annoyed
that we interrupted the chat that they were having. We asked for Julie, the
person my husband originally spoke to via telephone. She insisted that my
husband told her that it was a small burner that was burnt out and not a dual
element. In spite of the fact that she was basically calling my husband a liar,
we looked for a stove among their limited stock. No Frigidaire appliances at
all and only 2 convection ovens with glass cook tops. These two were, in my
opinion, of inferior quality and far too expensive. (Both, over 1,000.00
dollars) We decided to wait and shop around for a better deal. Despite the
salesman?s apology for the mix-up in ordering the parts, they still insisted
that we pay the restocking fee of $79.75 plus $15.00 return shipping for a
total of $94.75. So, here we are, minus that total and still have a broken
stove.
Just a thought, shouldn't a company that sells and repairs major
appliances look up the correct parts for the appliances they repair. We will
never recommend Hank?s Electric Company. They forget the #1 rule of business, ?The
customer is always right.? Well, this customer is now GONE!
