I used an online "coupon deal" to have the air ducts and dryer vent in my home cleaned. The $69.00 coupon offered cleaning of the main HVAC unit, 1 return vent, 9 air ducts, and one dryer vent. When I called to schedule the service the man I spoke with would only offer me one date the following month that he was willing to come to my home. This was because he was already scheduled to service another home in my area and he wanted to do them both on the same day. I asked about many other appointment options but he turned them all down. I scheduled the service for the only date he would give me. He and his helper arrived on time on the appointment day. After a very quick inspection he told me that I had 1 additional duct, 2 extra return vents, and my dryer vent was longer than 6 feet. (It didn't say anywhere on the coupon that the dryer vent could only be 6 feet long so I didn't know why this mattered). He told me that I had mold in my main HVAC unit and that the cost to "properly" clean the entire system would be $900.00! I told him there was no way I could spend that much money so he went outside, pretended to call someone and then came back in less than two minutes and said that because I had a coupon the cost would only be $450.00! I asked him why he could not just clean what was included in the coupon and he said because only part of the system would then get cleaned. I again told him I could not afford $450.00 and so he then said he would do a "basic" cleaning for $195.00. I truly did not want to pay this but decided to go ahead and let them do the work because they were already there and I wanted my system cleaned. When they began to clean the vents, I was shocked that it was nothing like what was described on their website. The cleaning of the main HVAC and main return vent was nothing more than your average "shop vac" being swirled around for less than two minutes. (Not the HEPA filtered high powered negative pressure vacuum described on their website and the coupon). The air duct cleaning consisted of a small compressed air nozzle being pushed through a vent slat and a quick burst of air being shot into the vent. (On their website they describe removing the vent covers, using tools to agitate the dust and dirt and then pushing it out toward the large HEPA vacuum with compressed air). The entire job took them less than 30 minutes (once the work actually began). I DO NOT recommend using this company. They are con artists looking for their next victim!
