I brought Robert a lamp that was not functioning.  This was an expensive and unique lamp and my favorite reading light.
He quickly diagnosed a short in the head and had it repaired the following day!  The cost was very reasonable.
He was professional in every sense and very pleasant!
I would not hesitate to return!!  This type of old fashioned service is very rare these days!

I had a floor lamp that stopped working.  Not only did he fix it in less than 24 hours, but he also repaired the scratches on the wooden base.  The lamp looks like new.  When you walk into his store, you can tell that this man knows his stuff and has been at it for a long time.  An old school expert!

I tried to do replace the lamp hood myself but realized that it would take a professional to do it. I was right. Mr. Alex spent about forty minutes working around the cumbersome Chinese made fixture issues. He started working on it right away when I handed him the lamp over the counter. While he was fixing it, he was also educating me on the various aspects of the fixtures. I was very impressed with his knowledge and skills. He successfully replaced the lamp hood, put on an new bulb and tested it well before handing it to me (with the new bulb). He showed personal care and high service quality. When I requested a price quote for all his hard work, he quoted a really low price. I had to refuse his quote and  paid him three times more than he asked for. People like Mr. Alex are a rare type. We must respect and appreciate their value and should never take their service for granted.

My lamp was repaired while I waited. It needed a new switch.
I intend to bring some brass back for polishing.
The shopkeeper was pleasant and knowledgable.
THe charge was very reasonable.

I brought 2 pails to Robert Alex to have them polished and lacquered. When I picked them up just a couple of days later, it was hard to believe they were the same pieces I'd brought him! They didn't even feel the same! They were so beautiful that I brought him a copper ash collector that we keep near the fireplace and we finished that in just another couple of days. They were so beautiful that we put them under the tree as a surprise to my husband (since they're his antique pieces). Robert was able to find the dates on a couple of these pieces and told me what they'd probably been used for. He was knowledgeable and very interesting. I will definitely use him again!
