The Merillat Roofing Team did a great job. They were professional and courteous. They came by, ripped out the old roof, replaced it, and did it all in a timely manner. This was for a secondary flat roof, not the primary one. When it comes time to replace my primary (hopefully many years from now), I will call them in again.

ESTIMATORS SPENT ALMOST 2 HOURS ON THE ROOF. ESTIMATE WAS COMPETITIVE IN LINE WITH 3 OTHERS.VERY COURTEOUS AND WILLING TO EXPLAIN ALL ASPECTS AND DETAILS. WORK WAS STARTED AND FINISHED AS PROMISED-ON TIME.NO SURPRISES OR HIDDEN CHARGES. WISH THEY HAD A NARROWER BASE CRANE OR BOOM-LIFT(IT WOULD HAVE SAVED SOME OF OUR BUSHES...). OVERALL, IT WAS A VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE!

Highly recommend Merillat Roofing. From the estimate to the completion of the job, it was a very positive experience. Everyone from the owners to the office staff to the crew and carpenters were all friendly, courteous & helpful. They were on-time, safety conscious and went out of their way to accommodate the needs of the family coming and going during the project. Crews were ready and prepared to do the job with materials and equipment, they were careful to clean up at the end of each day and after the job was completed. With an impending hurricane, rather than tear off the roof and risk being unable to finish the job, on their own time at expense, they came out and secured the roof with tarps and plywood to weather the storm and it help up great. Within days, with extra jobs, damage and roof repairs to be done they kept their commitment to start and finish the job. When additional, unexpected work was discovered, I was kept informed, shown the damage and given options for the repair before any additional work above and beyond the estimate was started. The new roof has gained compliments from neighbors for the finishing touches and final look. The quality of the materials and the workmanship speak for themselves. When a neighbor had some minor damage following the hurricane, Brian and his crew gave a quick estimate and complete the repairs quickly. I have and will continue to recommend Merillat Roofing!

Great experience from start to finish! John Merillat is honest and professional - one of the few contractors I've been fortunate to cross paths with who did exactly what he said he was going to, when he said he was going to do it. He really stands behind his company's reputation and ensuring the quality of the work. I have a 1920's bungalow that needed a lot of roof deck and wood repairs. The work was extensive and intricate. They didn't cut any corners - they used tongue and groove boards to match the original wood and replicated replacement rafters and rafter-tails to match the originals. The job foreman Ronnie and all of the team members were incredibly polite and thoughtful. They were a pleasure to have working at my home. I would recommend Merillat for both their quality of work and quality of character any day!

I had gathered quotes from 8 different roofers for an entire roof replacement of my low slope & flat roof home. The quotes were all close to each other, but the scope of work proposed and materials offered differed. Merillat's estimate was very comprehensive as to what was included and what would cost extra. We knew there was some damage and rotten wood that would need to be replaced. Merillat Roofing sent photos of the progress and kept me informed every step of the way. They completed the roof in one day and took care of 100% of the issues without nickle and diming me for every little thing. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the Tampa bay area needing a re-roof or a repair. Great job on my low slope and flat roofs!

Excellent. They arrived first thing in the morning with a crew of over 11 men and finished in less than 2 days. Covered all plants and fixtures around the house. Have never seen a roofing company do this and was impressed with their communication and professionalism.

Great. Great staff to work with, and very flexible and available to answer questions. Brian showed me photos of start, removal, and finish - explained the process, the issues. Often when you get a repair the repair person trashes the builder or former contractor, Brian in fact took some photos of work unrelated (wind strapping) that he was impressed with for my record.

Merillat Roofing did an OUTSTANDING JOB installing our new roof. We needed a total new roof across the whole house. The roof was approximately twelve years old, and covered in standard fiberglass shingles. At some point in the distant past, the house had a tile roof. It was leaking badly in a number of areas. We decided on a metal roof for longevity, as we didn't want to do this again in a decade. We talked to three different companies, and didn't just compare price. We discussed the types of soundproofing and insulation used as well as the type of metal and fittings to include screws, bolts, nails, etc. By far, Bruce Cook answered our questions completely and explained each part of the process. Once we scheduled, their crews arrived as planned and completed the work on schedule with minimal disruption to our home. That was six months ago, since then our electric bill has been reduced by a third, consistently. The house remains cooler with less A/C and the insulation is very quiet. The usual Florida thunderstorms are barely noticeable; the house is very quiet. We waited six months to provide this review to ensure the workmanship proved out in terms of quality--it has. Heavy rains, cold, and heat -- the metal roof is one of our best investments we've made our home. I would hire Merillat Roofing for any job, large or small.

I called the company and left a message. The owner called back the next day. I described the work I needed, he said one of his sales people would be in touch. Salesman called the next day and set an appointment for 2 days later. He arrived on time, after calling to let me know that the appointment was still on time. He gave me a very reasonable bid for all aspects of the job to meet wind mitigation standards (this was a problem with the one other company that actually submitted a bid). They were very accommodating to my needs regarding when work could be done, as I work at night. All work and cleanup was done in one day on a 12 square roof, and within 10 days of the bid being accepted. They kept in communication with me without prompts as to when work would be done. All of the items that may have cost extra were not needed, so there were no extra charges. I was exceptionally pleased with the quality of the entire process. I highly recommend this company for any roofing work.

Everything went great. Once the crew got all the old shingle and paper off we realized how bad the sheathing really was. Everything got replaced with quality wood and barrier and shingle. I was very impressed with the time frame it was done and the amazing price. Can you believe it only took Brian and his guys one day start tear out to finish. WOW!!! The roof was done so good our engineer for our solar panels we are getting installed extended our warranty cause the craftsmanship that was done when roof was replaced. He said we max out warranty cause it's like putting it on a new construction house! Brian thanks to you and your crew for a job well done!!!

My experience with Merillat Roofing is a testament on why to use a reputable company and not base the decision only on price. This is the second roof I have needed to have done to my home in the 10 years I have owned it. The first roof was done by a fly by night company that was done as a condition to my buying the home. So of course they looked for the absolute cheapest price possible. Well after several leaks, damaged drywall and other issues I decided I had enough. I contacted a few companies to come out to give me some estimates.

Fast forward to now:

I contacted Tina at Merillat and she arranged for Brian her foreman to come inspect my roof. Brian informed me of the terrible condition and pointed out some issues I was already aware of, but this established he was being honest and also knew what he was talking about. The end result was I needed to pull the first and second roof off, do underlying repairs and put on the new roof.

Again, nothing surprising here other than the fact Brian made me feel very confident in the way he addressed questions and his demeanor was refreshing compared to the few other companies I had contacted previously. I got the feeling that although he was working and this was a business, he genuinely wanted to help.

I made the decision to have Merillat install the new roof and we scheduled it to begin a few days later. The common estimate with all the companies I spoke with would be a 3-4 day job, understandable.

So they began work on a Tuesday morning, arriving 15min early (also a welcome surprise) and the crew began to start removing the old roof.

Later that day, I learned that there was a large storm headed our way and was an unexpected occurrence as the weather reports earlier gave us a good 5 day window to have the roof work completed. I called Tina to voice my concern and she informed me that they had also heard the same information. She said since they had already had a good portion of my roof removed they decided to bring in a second crew to accelerate the work on my house to avoid the imminent storm. If you live in the Tampa Bay area, you know that this was the beginning of our crazy rain, rain and rain some more 3 week barrage of rain.

Not only did they finish in unheard of 2 days, but it looks fantastic and not one leak! Just in the knick of time.

I wish I could give multiple reviews because they deserve more than and A rating.. For my family and myself, its a AAAA+++  many thanks!!

Merillat Roofing was recommended by a mutual acquaintance.   Brian Cook is a man of his word and  very efficient in his work ethic.  I had several scattered areas that were leaking on my 10yr old flat roof and had made several appointments with other

contractors for bids.  Brian offered and sent 2 techs out to repair my leaks and keep us dry until I could finalize details and  wait for dry weather.  He did everything he said he would do in a timely and efficient manner.  His crew showed up on time, went to work and in 12 hrs. my 3000   square foot deck was almost complete.   Material delivery and inspections were scheduled and done as arranged.  The crew made sure clean up was complete before they left.   Office staff very personable and kept me informed.

Brian came out for the estimate. He gave me a price for exactly what I wanted, other roofers demanded upgrades, to meet new building codes (and jack up the price), which some were priced more than double. Brian saved me money by moving the a / c as needed rather than having an a / c contractor remove and reinstall it. Brian was easy to talk to and did exactly what he said he would do. The job was done in 2 days as there were 13 workers on the job. Yes, I am happy and recomend Merillat Roofing.

We solicited and received bids from five roofing companies that do business in the Tampa area. We were surprised to find a wide disparity in prices among all five companies, ranging from $13,000 to $16,000 to replace our shingled roof and torchdown two flat roof areas. We also got bids from each company to update the Hurricane Clips that attach the house walls to the trusses as this is necessary to meet current building and wind mitigation codes. This job was expected to be extensive, so we were very careful in making a selection. Our first choice was to contract with the company that gave us the lowest bid since we would save several thousand dollars over the others, and the company was rated A- with the Better Business Bureau and A on Angies List when I checked those sources in December, 2013.  Just before signing a contract in January, 2014, we made a final check of these ratings.  We were surprised to find the company had had several significant complaints submitted in December, which resulted in the overall ratings to decline.  We elected not to contract under those circumstances and contacted Merillat Roofing, the next higher bid.
We are thoroughly satisfied with the interaction and workmanship we received from Merillat Roofing and would recommend this company to anyone considering roofing work.  From the first meeting, the company owner treated our thoughts and concerns very seriously and expressed that his goal was for us to be completely satisfied.  At one point in the installation, Merillat discovered an unforeseen circumstance with one of the flat roof areas.  The repair of this circumstance was not on the Scope of Work, though it was clear the work had to be done.  Merillat charged us for the parts only, and not the labor to make this extra repair, which gave us confirmation that we have dealt with a company of high moral and ethical standards.
The final product is perfect, the inspections demonstrate that everything is in order and we will soon change our homeowners insurance to a company that has quoted us premiums at a substantial savings.

The company came to repair my tile roof; they explained that I really needed a new roof but repairing it may buy a few years. The underlayment was 40 years old and didn't take well to the repairs, therefore I had more leaks. A few months later I had the whole roof replaced; they took in consideration the money I spent on repairs and gave me a fair price to replace it. It looks great.

Initially, I had some reservations regarding this contractor because they didn't have any resports submitted on Angies LIst, but they were very highly recommended by a reliable source. So I went ahead and hired them, and I'm glad I did. John Merillat oversaw all aspects of the project and made sure everything was done properly. I was impressed with the quality of the materials used (35 year dimentional shingles and a "peel and stick" moisture barrier (rather than the more common, less expensive, tar paper). He also took photos of the work in progress and completed the necessary paperwork for my insurance company so I could apply for a credit on the homeowners insurance. It was a pleasure working with this contractor and I highly recommend them.
