Fine. Never received receipt.
Response from Heinz Air Conditioning & Heating
"I'm sorry that uou did not receive your receipt. In an effort to be more efficient and to not use so much paper we converted over to computerized invoices. You were emailed an invoice which according to our records you did receive. If you would've contacted our office we would've been more than happy to mail you a hard copy of the invoice. When you set up the initial service call our dispatcher advised that we do all our invoicing and paperwork via computer and we give you the option of a paper invoice if you request it. You also rated us poorly on punctuality but according to our records the technician arrived within the schedule time that you were informed of. We also always call the customer when the technician is in route so the customer can be prepared for us. you were given a 30 minutes notice that the technician was in route. The system is automated as well as done manually by our dispatcher. You also were not happy with our price. You were given a significantly discounted service. Unfortunately we are not the type of company that will offer you a $20 service call or check up to get into the door of your house and then sell you for hundreds of dollars in unnecessary repairs. We're sorry that our service didn't meet your standards. We strive to be an honest company with fair prices and try to keep up with the latest technology to better serve our customers. I hope we can do a better job of making you happy in the future."

Huge shout out to Bill! He was extremely thorough and took his time to help me explain my a/c system (first summer in this house and some of issues I was having were apparently my own fault). He was friendly, got the job done and I will happily ask for him again next season.

Heinz voluntarily agreed to take on Mfg Guarantee for a supplemental air purification unit installed by another A/C company. They secured and installed a new unit under that guarantee, slowed down the blower, did a “tune up” and did some other adjustments. Technician was knowledgeable, prompt and accommodating. Air is now fresh, clean and comfortable throughout. These are the “go to” guys!

Perfect. Heintz is very knowledgeable in helping choose equipment. They provided exactly what they said and when they said it, which was quickly. No surprises. Best experience I have ever had using a contractor.

Well, air conditioning unit spinner broke completely (no air at all...in Florida) at 5am Thursday morning, contacted Heinz Air Conditioning Co. as soon as they opened around 9am, stated a tech would be at my house same day between 2-4pm, showed up about 3:45...says I need a spinner. I immediately approved the part order. Tech (Justin) says he has to order the part and will not be in until the following morning, ok, it is what it is, right? It's only 1 whole day without air..SO WE THOUGHT...due to the fact that Justin ASSURED us that he or a co-worker, Joe, would "be out the next morning (Friday), between 11-12, cuz the delivery truck gets to the shop around 11am everyday"! I as well as my fiancé had pleaded NUMEROUS times that they please please please come and do this "10 minute part replacement job" (techs words), ASAP the next morning, due to the fact my elderly mother is visiting, we also have a 3 yr old son and a dog....Justin guaranteed us both that he or Joe would! Friday...12pm,...no one....1pm....no one...my fiancé calls the shop, a woman says "oh yes the part is here, just waiting on Justin to come pick it up, he will be there 2-3pm today"....3:30pm...NO ONE...call shop again, "tech will be there 4-5pm"....4:50pm..NO TECH (shop closes in 10 minutes!!!!!! No AIR...95* in my home!!! Now I call the shop again, spoke to SUE, to be perfectly honest, I'm not pleasant but I'm definitely not as RUDE as I should've been...so Sue proceeds to say "he won't be there until 5-7pm"...I say, "can u guarantee me that he will be here tonite?...I have a lil one, dog and an elderly mother here and it's 96*s in my home now ma'am, we've been getting the run around from you all, all day today!"....so SUE answers very RUDELY and IMPATIENTLY "ma'am, the tech is running behind, he's very over heated with calls today, I can't tell u something that I do not know, all I can say is he should be there!!"......8pm he shows up...no apologies, just says that he was running behind all day...but what made me so mad is...1...if we were ur last appointment on Thursday (the initial visit), why the **** wouldn't we be the 1st repair job when that part came in AT 11AM, on Friday (during one of the numerous calls, a rep said the parts been there since 11am)...WHY?????? I understand he was on other calls but why not send another tech, knowing ,my family was on DAY 2 with no air conditioning??!! Was it because, my part only cost $200, so it wasn't considered "priority" over the more expensive calls they had that day?? 2....how come WE had to call them ALL DAY...why couldn't they have called us to let us know what was going on, and assure us he would be there but unsure of the time?? I think a simple phone call to us would of atleast made us feel that they care and they won't forget about my repair....JUST CONSIDERATION, that's it!!! 3....I don't understand why that lady SUE had to be so nasty towards me, when I was being fine, definitely not aggressive whatsoever, like herself was being, she just didn't seem to care at all...it was like, it was 4:50 pm on Friday, she's leaving in 10 minutes for the weekend so SHE COULD CARE LESS ABOUT ME AND MY SITUATION!!! So UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!! So RIDICULOUS!!! I know I've been rambling, but this is the situation that Heinz Air Conditioning Company put myself and my family through!! I RECOMMEND WHOLE HEARTEDLY, NOT, DO NOT, YOU SHOULD NOT, WHATSOEVER, CALL HEINZ AIR CONDITIONING FOR NOTHING IN THE FUTURE!!!!! They surely do not and will not put you and your family's best interest at heart, from the REPRESENTATIVES in the office/shop to the FIELD TECHNICIANS...they'll tell you, or I should say SELL you, what you want to hear to get the "approval", after that though, you're at their mercy unfortunately!!! Oh and btw, it's now the following Monday 1:35pm, and I still have yet to receive a phone call from the owner, that I requested on Friday, during one of my countless phone calls TO THEM!!!! If you decide to try them anyway, good luck...I truely hope you have a much better experience than we had!! Now if you got a $10,000+ unit job for them, I'm sure they will be at YOUR mercy, no doubt!! SHAMEFUL people at this company!!!! Never, ever, EVER, again.
Response from Heinz Air Conditioning & Heating
"First I want to respond that this person reviewing our company is not the owner of the property and we did not do business directly with her. She is a tenant. To start the air conditioning system in her rental property is older and was missing model numbers and critical information to be able to track down an exact part. As a result, the part had to be removed and matched up with a similar part to complete the repair. The original call required a tech to remove the part and bring it back to the shop. From there one of our office staff members went to the supplier to get the part. The tech who was already loaded down with calls and was behind schedule. The renter started calling the office about 8 times, each time being verbally abusive to our staff, which included all three office staff. She was advised that the repair would be completed as soon as the tech could get there. At about 7:30 PM the tech arrived and completed the repair the same day as promised. I personally heard one of the conversations with the tenant and she would not allow our dispatcher to talk or offer an explanation. Unfortunately she was extremely impatient and could not accept the fact that she is not the only customer we were dealing with. It is a hot time of the year, and we were overwhelmed with emergency service calls. All our techs were working overtime, and were able to take care of all customers as promised. We went out of our way to provide a fast repair, including traveling to our suppliers to obtain the parts instead of waiting for a shipment which could have delayed the repair for an additional day. She unfortunately will not recognize that we actually went out of or way to complete the repair as soon as we could."

they are superb. We've had them quiet a few times over the years. They've always done spot on excellent work. We have an old system that was put in 2001 and we've been able to keep it because they've been able to service it so well. So they are phenomenal.

If you are using any other HVAC contractor, you are making a mistake! I am not one to usually input reviews unless there is some sort of extraordinary experience… positive or negative. To that end, I have to provide feedback on the exceptional level of service afforded by Jim Heinz of Heinz Air Conditioning and Heating. I contacted Jim on a recommendation from another HVAC Contractor for a little out of the normal request of installing a mini split unit for a wine cellar. This is ultimately a small A/C unit that requires refrigerant. Having called around, most HVAC installers immediately said “no” but Jim immediately said he would come out and see. This was strictly an install as I had purchased the unit personally from a reputable wine cooler manufacturer. (another reason why others refused because they were not making the markup on the unit). Jim and his team came out on time and performed the rough install while the room was being completed then came back for the final install after the room was finished. They did a great job of working in tight quarters and were thorough and clean. Easy enough… but this is where the “exceptional” part comes in. Usually it takes a couple of days to cool down to the appropriate temperature, but the unit was having trouble stabilizing. Contacted Jim and he (personally) came back out to make adjustments which took an additional 1.5 hours between being in the room and up on the roof. We let it sit for a couple of days, same problem and back out he came…. This happened 4 more times while trying to make adjustments (each 1-3 hours of time spent). Each time, Jim, personally, came out… not his team, Jim. He even reached out to the manufacturer to talk them through the problem – remember, NOT a unit that he sold, but rather that I purchased! At this point I was completely frustrated with the entire project and the manufacturer. All along, Jim kept stating “we are going to get this…. I haven’t been beaten by a unit yet”. Come to find out that other HVAC contractors use him on difficult installs for his expertise Ultimately we determined that the outside compressor unit that the MANUFACTURER (again, not his) sent was mismatched with the inside unit. He arranged for a new unit to be sent and came back again to install and later to make final adjustments. The room has maintained 55 degrees with +/- 1 degree since install for the past 6 months. So in the end, it took 7 additional trips and 15+ hours over expectations and Jim didn’t ask for a dime over the original install price, as he wanted to see the job all the way through. You don’t see that level of commitment any more, but you should. From him, to his installers to his team scheduling his appointments all consummate professionals. Jim also is a distributer for Carrier HVAC units and I have consistently referred him out to others as the gold standard of what a contractor should be. I can’t thank him enough for his level of committment.

This company is professional, courteous and honest! They will only sell you what you really need. I was given professional advice, and my A/C bills were cut in half. I used them recently a second time after a move and they cleaned and serviced my A/C, even did an air quality test for free which gave me peace of mind. Highly recommend!

While the initial installation of both systems went well, we gave Heinz an excellent rating, and referred them to other friend who had a new installation. The functioning of all installed units have been not been satisfactory. Since installation in late 2013, from the start, the mini split unit has had to be services 5-6 times for not cooling. In recent times Heinz has been charging for repair of a unit that has never worked. Again for the second time the upstairs unit is not working, the air handler had to be replaced in the second year of service and again the system is not working. They blame everyone but themselves. After referring Heinz to our friends, the Largo inspector came out to their home and informed them that their system was no installed properly and was insufficient to cool their home. Heinz again, wanted them to pay additional money for an new installation which they did not install correctly. I do not under stand how a company can do business in this fashion. We will find another company to fix the problems that they have created.
Response from Heinz Air Conditioning & Heating
"In 2013, we installed 2 units for this client. A 1.5 ton Heat pump unit for the upstairs area in their home, and a ductless mini-split unit for the downstairs area. The upstairs unit comes with a 10 year parts warranty and a 1 year labor warranty, and the downstairs unit came with a 7 year parts warranty as well as a 1 year labor warranty. Our initial quote and invoice clearly reflected the warranties included for their systems. As with ALL HVAC contractors, our responsibility is to install the equipment of client's choice according to local code enforcement and state requirements and will guarantee our labor on the installation of the equipment for a year after. Following the first year, it is the responsibility of the client to pay for any maintenance and labor repairs required on their equipment. As this client has a total of 3 different HVAC units for their home, on which we have visited them several times for various services and maintenance on each unit within the last few years. This week, we received a call from the client asking us to take a look again at the upstairs unit, as it seems to not be keeping up to the temperature they are setting on the thermostat. When we advised of the service call fee for this visit, they said they should not have to pay us as they do not believe that their system has worked properly since installation. Initial installation on this unit was 4 years ago. This client would like us to diagnose an issue that is currently happening, 4 years later, at no cost. We informed them that the labor warranty of 1 year has long expired and that like any other contractor, we will have to charge our service call fee to send a technician to diagnose their current issue. If the issue requires the changing of a part, we will order what is needed, process the warranty on the part for them (so they will not incur any costs for the part) and charge them accordingly for the diagnosis and labor involved that we perform. A parts warranty is an agreement between a consumer and the manufacturer of the equipment. A manufacturer parts warranty DOES NOT include the labor to diagnose and change said parts. The manufacturer does NOT credit the contractor for the labor, service and maintenance on their equipment. Costs associated for labor, service and maintenance performed by ANY contractor is the sole responsibility of the consumer. Upon diagnosis of any issues, a contractor will order and pre-pay for any parts that a client's system might require, after which we will take the time to process a warranty claim with the manufacturer to be reimbursed for the cost of the part that we purchased on the client's behalf. Our labor to change said part however, in addition to the time it takes a technician to diagnose the issue, is NOT covered by the manufacturers warranty. No legitimate company can offer all labor services for the life of the client's equipment for free and still expect to stay in business."

The main central AC unit of my house broke down at the beginning of the year. I called in a company to come and diagnose the problem, the compressor was damaged and out of warranty. I called in two more companies to quote / diagnose and everyone had the same impression that it was the compressor. I contacted Heinz Air Conditioning & Heating and was able to talk to Jim Heinz, the president of the company which was extremely helpful and came into my house right away to diagnose/quote me a replacement AC. He is well versed on his field, courteous, honest and was always trying to see how he could help me without costing me a fortune. His quote for the replacement was the best of the three I obtained, not only in price but in quality of components and value. Once the install day arrived, Justin and Joe arrived on time, introduced themselves and proceeded to explain what the install was going to me like, how long it was going to take and if I had any questions., They asked me to show them where the AC unit, the circuit box and air handlers were located. They made sure the work area was clean and placed cloth to make sure my carpet/floor stayed clean. The installation went by without incident, they showed me the work they performed and explained the warranty on the new equipment. I was called the next working day from the office to make sure everything was working well and to see how was the experience. Overall, a great experience, very refreshing to deal with honest and hard working people that want to do their best work to satisfy the customer's needs.
