FIRST AMERICAN TITLE INSURANCE CO

Although I asked First American to double check that the title was clear on the house in Safety Harbor, Florida, they assured me that all was set to go on August 8. I have copies of that email AND the email they started sending me the week before. The title was absolutely not clear and after sending me many emails, asking for the same information over and over and OVER, they announced they could not handle the sale. My buyer found a different title insurance company who cleared the title efficiently and pleasantly. Obviously, the TI-agent had not even looked at the title until just before closing, despite my asking her to look and verify. Then, of course, she substituted frantic, disorganized emails for efficiency. I can't tell you how difficult it was dealing with these people, but it was no surprise when they finally announced they couldn't handle the sale. There are efficient T.I. companies in the Clearwater area. This is NOT one of them. My cost was only FAX charges.
