August 12, 2015 gentleman came to our house to give quote/estimate for: grout color change throughout the house, grout patch-up work down a small hallway, a few touchup spots in living room area & a small bathroom shower 3? x 2.5? needed re-grouting two tiles up from floor, also main bathroom tub needed grouting around perimeter. Estimate $2,005.00
I asked how long it would take to complete, was told it was a two day job.
Received an email from grout works August 13th @ 8:30 AM informing me that they will be at my home
on Thursday 8/20 and again on 8/21 between 8 and 9 AM.
Day 1? Work started on Thursday on time & again on Friday on time, floors were cleaned very well with floor machine to assist grout color stain would stick to the grout surface.
I had to open the Windows due to the smell from the chemical floor cleaner, some of the techs were
already starting to apply the new stain color to the grout were the floor had been cleaned. The tiles in the house were noticeably sweating from the humidity, didn?t look like this stain was attaching very well on top of the grout, we decided to close the windows and bring back down the air temperature, now the new stain seem like it was attaching correctly to the grout. One of the techs started on the shower scraping out the old grout (2 tiles up from floor), said they would grout the next day. Not all of the stain was finished.
Day 2? work resumed with only two techs now, one to complete the floor touchup grouting and little shower & one to complete staining grout. Seem like everything was okay, after techs left that day I went around the house looking at everything, and noticed this stain did not stick to the grout in many areas of our home. Also noticed both hall closets and bedroom closets were missed, no stain to the grout applied. I also noticed in the little shower that there was no grout in some of the spaces between the tiles, did not make me a happy camper.
I called and spoke with someone at Groutworks about my dilemma? the next day! Said they would send someone out the next day to look at everything and complete staining closets floors were they missed & some places that did not take to well to the stain & also fill-in grout were missed in shower, apparently when scraping out the old grout in the little shower, someone scraped two of the tiles in the shower, one not so bad a scrape, but the other very noticeably, which made me sad.
I called and spoke with someone at Groutworks and was informed there is not much anyone can do for that, my husband agreed, said it would be very hard to match the tiles, so I have to live with another persons slip of the blade while taking out the old grout. I understand things happen, one scrap I could understand, Two? not so much???..

We contracted with Bay Tile originally to install 1,800 sf of wood floor, 600 sf of tile and 450 sf of carpet throughout the house. The initial wood received was not correct. That was a mistake on the part of the Triangilo wood firm, not them.
Since the choice of tile was already made and installation started, it limited our choices; but, we were able to find a nice second choice. My problem with the wood mix-up was the handling of it by Bay Tile; their sales person, Jay, said that our second choice of product could be delivered within a few days; not true. It ended up taking three weeks. Since tile installation had already begun and house items were in storage, that wait was a huge disappointment.
When the original incorrect wood was delivered, the wood installer told my husband that there was a leveling problem in the family room. Nothing more was said at that time. Not even a "Hey, this may cost some money that you didn't expect". AFTER demo began three weeks later they said it would cost upwards of $4,000 to level the floor. It ended up costing $1,000 extra with self leveling concrete. It took them two hours to self level the area and they charged $100 per bag. In researching this, self leveling concrete is $30 per bag, so we paid $70 per bag for installation; not worth it since it did not really do the proper leveling job. They later had to drill more than 25 holes in the new wood, using Dritect filler since the wood wasn't sticking to the original glue. They said this was "normal", but researching the Dritect product we discovered it is normally used for repairs, not installation. They had no explanation for this.
While waiting for the wood floor delivery and since most of our house was in storage, we decided to fill the time with a master bathroom remodel, which they initially said we'd be a priority since we were waiting for supplies. Wrong. Picking out the additional products was a nice experience with the girls in the shop. They are very nice and attentive. Again, it was a problem with salesman Jay; that same day he said he called the supplier and got the stock needed. A few days later, they wanted to push the start date out three weeks, stating that the accent tile was back ordered. What?
One of the owners, Trina, is very responsive via email and we were able to, yet again, pick out another product for the remodel and the master bath project began within a few days.
Overall, we love the bathroom remodel; it was done by a subcontractor named Paul with more than 35 years of experience. There was also a plumber, Victor, who was extremely good at suggesting placement of the shower system and installation of tub. All subcontractors with respect to the bathroom remodel showed up during normal business hours and were professional.
Again, excellent work, but with respect to bathroom remodels, be wary of charges. They wanted to charge us $2,500 to remove wallpaper (insisting it could not be saved). Funny thing, it could be saved and was! They also wanted to charge us $580 to replace two can lights. Huh? I went to home depot and replaced electric myself. So watch carefully on bill padding.
I don't believe Bay Tile even carries wood anymore; we may have been one of their last wood installations. According to the owner, there were too many problems and warranty issues that they have had to deal with over the years. The installers took a long time, usually only working between 11 to 4; this extended the installation to nearly three weeks. They also had to stop in the middle of the project and more wood "magically" appeared - our thoughts are they didn't order enough. They reinstalled part of the floor and it still is not correct. After final payment, we have not heard from them again about potentially fixing it one more time. One plank from the fix dips 1/4 inch below the others and another plank had a gap that we had to fix ourselves with wood filler.
They did try to be attentive during the installation and were very responsive; however, I did not like that after problems arose, the owner Trina would show up unannounced in attempts to calm situations we had. It would have been more professional to first call instead of intruding on family time.
I think if you are sticking to what they know (like a bathroom remodel), you may be pleased. I wouldn't have them install large areas of flooring, unless tile.

they did a great job.
Trina (owner-manager) was very easy to contact and work with, and she was always very involved with the progression of the job.
we will use them again without hesitation.

The work was a week late getting started
and 2 weeks late getting finished
They cleaned up pretty well each day which was appreciated
My main complaint was in the pricing and the cost of the change orders
They will not share any cost breakdowns or cost from their Subs or suppliers
You have to completely trust their integrity, and think they overcharge for this work
When there were problems they had a lot of excuses and usually blamed me or my wife
lots of excuses but never accepted the responsibility for their self and that of their employees
The workers came and went, there was not a master schedule sequencing the work and the durations
The only single point of supervision was the sales person, she is nice and knows the industry, but never came to the job
so the men doing the work had to coordinate and supervised the work themselves. Everyone except the Drywall person was nice and cooperative.
For the prices they charge I expected on time completion, quality work and much better communications.
I think the experience was a "C" on your scales.
I believe if a contractor is willing to show you the backup for the prices then you know your billings are fair
If they refuse, then they refuse for a reason, the prices are too high and they are gauging you

The Sales Reps for Bay Tile Trina and Mike were very good and professional. The total cost of the project was slightly higher than other companies, however their professionalism and promise to perform quality work and in a timely manor made the sale. The Bay Tile flooring team for Bay Tile showed up on time and did a very good job. We are please with the flooring work completed by Bay Tile and was completed on time as promised.
The remodel for the kitchen was a different story. There were many issues and the first started with the design of the cabinetry. We elected to have a spice rack installed with our new Kraft Maid cabinets. Unfortunately the designed wouldn't allow assess to the spices when you open the door. This simply was poor work by the design person at Bay Tile. Then we needed a solution when they could not provide us one and they said they don't have one. We searched the internet and found a design and requested they build the spice rack in a fashion that allowed up to actually open the door and have access to the spices. You would think as a company who remodels kitchens, this would not be a issue we need to solve. The next design flaw issue we had with Bay Tile was for microwave. We purchased a new Kitchen Aid Microwave that is standard size. The install errors caused them to drill 3 holes in the cabinet (verse 1) to correct the problem and this took 3 visits to correct this problem since the fans on the microwave vented into the cabinets (completely wrong). After the cabinets were installed, we took the time to inspect the work and found many issues including screws that were missing in the cabinets, doors that didn't not open properly, the crown molding had large gaps that you could see through, and face boards that were not even finish nailed in. These were all corrected, however we were surprised at the poor quality of work performed.
The next issue was the install of a brand new Kitchen Aid range we purchased that is standard size. We were very surprised to discover the cabinets were not installed correctly and the range did not fit. As you can image, all the cabinets are in, the new granite counter top is installed and the range does not fit because the cabinets were not measured correctly to fit the range. This issue was eventually correct but the Bay Tile team actually hit the wood cabinets and covered it up with a wood putty. Furthermore more promises and appointments to fix this problem took weeks and they even had a scheduled visit and didn't show.
The next issue was the install of a back splash in the kitchen. The team of guys were very nice but the quality of work just wasn't. We purchased 14 decorative tiles to be installed and they installed 13 and left it behind. They stated they forgot. This just caused them to have to come back out and install it. Finally, they literally had grout missing in 4 areas and had to come out again and patch it up.
The next issue was the install of the sink and new plumbing. This was a disaster since the plumber actually switched the hot and warm water lines and hooked everything up wrong causing hot water to come out of our refrigerator. Of course this was fixed later after we called Bay Tile and stated it was wrong. You would think that a professional plumber would actually make sure the hot water and cold water was hooked up properly even though he denied he hooked it up wrong. Well we didn't have this issue prior to his work.
The next issue was the install of the granite counter top. Unfortunately the installers were not careful and hit the plumbing line and busted a water line that flooded the kitchen. Of course this was cleaned up but you can imaged after 48 hours of blow dryers in the kitchen to clean up and dry the mess, our frustration is running high with this company.
I could go on about the 3 more visits to the house that all had issues and the Bay Tile team never showed up on time. One appointment was a 2pm, I left work at 1pm to be home on time and the Bay Tile team should up at 7pm at night and left at 10pm. I called at 3pm to see if they were even coming and I got a call back at 5:15pm stating there were on their way. Simply unprofessional.
Finally, billing for this projected. We were promised a 10% discount on materials (all materials). This happened on some items and at the end when we went to settle the bill, they elected to argue over a garbage disposal they purchased for $139 and would "not honor the discount because they didn't get a discount on the item."
The project is completed at his point. A word of caution to consumers, buyer beware!

"[member name removed] we appreciate the feedback and would like the opportunity to respond to your comments. The termination of contract was due to a conflict in scheduling on your part, we always review the contract along with timelines for work to be completed at time of signing. For convenience of the home owner we schedule all of the materials to be delivered to us before any work begins, this allows us to work continuous so that the job is completed in a professional and timely manner according to the time line set. Everything was discussed and reviewed with you when the deposit was made and contract was signed. We also acknowledge and understand that not everyone feels comfortable leaving a key with us which is completely acceptable; however, in this instance the homeowner must make arrangements to be home or have someone there so that we can perform work scheduled during normal business hours and on time. After several attempts to continue work, we had to pull our contractors off the job when no one was home to let us in on days that were allotted for this job. We strive to keep our clients happy and take pride in the materials we sell and the work we’ve done for over 25 years. We apologize to you [member name removed] for any misunderstandings or inconveniences."
