"Mr. [Member Name Removed], Per our contract, in biggest bold letters, we are not responsible for underground utilities, especially private utilities, such as sprinkler lines, Malibu light lines, private gas lines from tanks, and anything that is not a public utility. As far as this particular review is concerned, we removed a fence on his neighbor's property and if we damaged a sprinkler line, it was on our customer's property. If we are not aware of these issues, it is a possibility that it will be damaged, thus it is the responsibility of the owner or neighbor. If this is the same neighbor, we did speak to him per his call, and responded with the same information. Sincerely, Allied Fence"
Moments later I get a highly charged and angry phone call from what I found out was the owner. He was highly bothered that I didn't pay the crew right up front. When I relayed the information they told me about using five feet less of material he barked back at me that and quot;it doesn't matterand quot; he still used a certain amount of wood it's in your contract. Funny thing was the estimator NEVER gave us a receipt of the contract. I was actually under the false impression that the estimator was the guy who owned the company and did the work himself.
Finally the owner came over to our house and we handed him he check glad to get him out of our hair. He gave us a copy of our receipt and when I said good day he then said something like 'it won't be good now that Obama has been re-elected' it was the day after the election.
While I'm not political in any way I found it kind of off-putting he was such a crank to his customer based on the election the day before? It's not like we had signs in our yard or bumper stickers on our car.
