In May 2011 I was at the late stages of purchasing a new home. During the inspection the 2.5 ton air conditioning unit was found to be non operational. The inspector stated it needed to be replaced. The realtor called out an air conditioning company to assess. The A/C company stated the unit needed freon, the unit needed to be assessed for leak, and the unit possibly needed to be replaced. The owner recieved the report and stated she would have the unit "taken care of" by AIR 15 the ONLY A/C company that had ever worked on the unit - they installed it in 2002. AIR 15 came out and replaced the motor to avoid replacing it - and prevented me from negotiating the cost of the unit. On July 28, 2011 I closed on the home (the home was vacant from May until I closed - and the unit was not used) on August 8, 2011 the unit stopped working I called AIR 15 because they had allegedly just fixed it. Repair cost $125.00. On August 29, 2011 the unit stopped working again. I called AIR 15 again they determined the capacitor was bad and needed to be replaced cost of $172.50, on September 19, 2011 the unit stopped working again. I called AIR 15 again - they came out 24 hours later and diagnosed the coil was leaking "so bad I can hear it" and stated the repair of the coil would be 2,000 or I really should replace the unit at a cost of 4,500. I filed a complaint with the owner and stated in May I had two independent professionals (inspector and A/C specialist) that stated the unit needed to be replaced and one wrote that the unit needed freon and needed to be assessed for a leak. His company AIR 15 disagreed and instead replaced the motor. The unit was in a house that was vacant from May until I took possession on July 29, 2011. The unit failed one week after I closed on the house, again 21 days later, and again 19 days later and now they are stating the same fix as I was told in May when they disagreed. This incompetency caused me not to be able to negotiate the cost of a new unit in the cost of the house and further now the fix is at my expense. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY THEY ARE INCOMPETENT, THIEVES, POOR WORK ETHIC - YOU WILL BE SORRY IF YOU DO NOT LISTEN TO MY STORY AND HEED MY ADVICE.
Description of Work: On May 2011 2.5 ton air conditioner not working Air 15 assessed the system and determined the motor needed to be replaced at a cost of $1,045 On August 8, 2011 the same air conditioner quit working again Air 15 assessed the system and determined the pan was full and needed to be drained - system was shutting itself off to protect itself. Cost $125.00 On August 29, 2011 the same air conditioner quit working again Air 15 assessed the system and determined the capacitor needed to be replaced cost $172.50 On September 19th the same air conditioner quit working again Air 15 assessed the system and determined the coil has a leak "so loud I can hear it" cost for the assessment and no fix $150.00 and now recommending the system be replaced as the system in almost 10 years old and "they do not make them like they use to"
