After I quit using them they tried to run a scam on me that someone was hacking my e-mail and I needed to re-hire them to clean it up & prevent it. In hindsight I realized that they used the same story when I did work with them to get me to allow a service call.

As reported by other recent negative reports, I appear to have been scammed for the 3rd time with e-mails coming to me from complete strangers complaining of nasty e-mails being sent by me. Toby of Coastal Computer was quick to alert me of this (as he had done before). After a couple of weeks passing by and complaint e-mails worsening, I relented and called Toby for help. He offered their latest special $199.99 for a year's service for my computer and 2 others. I agreed, and he was able to fix the problem in just over an hour (unlike previous repairs that took 3 hours @ $75 an hour and getting me to think "what goes here?"). It was only later that I saw these previous negative reports from Angie's List detailing my similar bad experience. An "aha" moment. Because of this, my wife decided not to have her computer "cleaned". You wonder how many others have been deceived and not reported this scam. Be very weary of this service.

He will e-mail you trying to fool you that you have a virus in your computer, and then "help" you by cleaning up the virus you never had in the first place. He does this by sending you fake e-mails from fake people, and they will be telling you that you are sending them inappropriate sexual messages and you better stop. If you just ignore these, like I did the first time he tried this, they become more and more frequently and you get to think that.... hey... maybe I DO have a virus! But you don't. Stupid me paid the fee and had him clean up my computer, remotely, back in January. Then just yesterday, I starting getting the emails again, from people that are not in my contact list. Conveniently, one was from Toby, asking innocently "Did you mean to send this to me?" It then dawned on me that he was scamming me, and after some internet searching I found that he has done this to many many folks. RUN from this guy and do not ever use him. He should be arrested.

Tried call the owner, Toby Grundter, several times. Finally got through to talk with him to tell him what was going on with the computer. He said he would call me back later that same night and never did and 2 1/2 weeks later he still has not called me. I even spoke with one of his contractors about the owner's lack of service/professionalism and he said he would also call and inform him as to what was going on. Never heard from him. So he basically took our money and ran.

Took my money, he says he cleaned my computer, but I actually had no virus. He did this Twice for $225.00 each time.

I normally DO NOT click on open URL's in my Email, but I trusted this from a known friend.  My computer immediately started producing about every 5 minutes a p*** site.  It alternated with sales pitches for a PC cleaner and Firewall protector.  In addition I was not able to raise either my email nor bank.  I received a shut-down blue screen notice from Microsoft, and I did.  I called Toby G and related to a message machine my problem. I could not be more pleased!  My call was returned in 5 minutes, he told me in English (not computerese) what to do and guided me through the arrangement of the remote contact.  I was able to sit and watch as the service cleaned out the virus, repaired some missing  materials that were preventing me from downloading other materials, reloaded my firewall and security service, and downloaded a new virus scanner, all from his office, and all while I watched. The entire process took less than 1/2 hour, and when finished he offered me some advice about the existing programs on my computer -- not to sell, but to provide me with info and warnings. I cannot praise the speed, courteous and clear dealings enough!

It was a long process, but it did fix the issue! Outlook is "buggy" out of the box, so I was very pleased. This is the 2nd time I had someone from this company do work for me. I would highly recommend them.

I have used them for 4 years now and they do a good job. They came and picked up the computer, repaired it and delivered it back in a better condition to me. Normally we are charged one price to create a back up for the computer, another to format it, another one to start a program and the list seems endless. Clearwater did a good job and when my computer came back to me it had a reader, it had 3 drives and had every update required. The job they did was complete and it was great.

We called quite a few companies who either did not call back or couldn't come within a few hours. I spoke with Toby and he scheduled Mark to help us promptly. He was professional and efficient and got the issues fixed in order of priority.

Highly professional, very convenient in home service. Good follow up. Would highly recommend.
