Our grass has far too many weeds and when I complain, I'm usually told it's a watering issue, which I frankly don't believe. If I had the time and energy to keep "bugging" them, I'm sure they would make it right, but I've let it go due to other priorities when I'm in town.
Overall, I'm happy with them. Respectful, professional employees who are friendly and fun to have around.
Last September 2014, I noticed we has a severe GRUB issue (everyone noticed, even Tony?s people). I could pull hands full of grass out of the middle of my yard and still can. I collected a Peanut Butter jar of Jurassic Park size Grubs. I showed the jar to Tony?s people and they said it was too late to treat the Grubs, we have to wait until next year. I sent them an email and the response was for me to please call them so we can talk about it. Then my wife reminded me that we have Jurassic Park size weeds all over the place, including dollar weeds. We spent $$ hundreds with these guys with very little results. Did Tony die and leave the business to Idiots?
You?re fired!
In early May we closed up our home in FL and traveled to MI for a six month stay. We hired Tony's Pest Control to treat for weeds, bugs, grubs and to fertilize every other month. The lawn looked good when we left in May, but when we returned to FL in October, the lawn had large areas of grub and weed damage. Additionally, there was massive ant nests in our lanai and garage.
On December 24, 2014 Tony inspected our lawn and blamed damage on broken sprinklers. The next door neighbor shut off his sprinklers in the summer (same time we were in MI) and his lawn looked beautiful. So, any sprinkler problems were not the cause of our lawn and bug problems. Tony also said that someone must have damaged our lawn by throwing beach on it and sabotaged our sprinkler controls on the side of the home. We have no enemies and find these statements rather ridiculous. During our stay in MI, we were not notified by Tony's Pest Control about the lawn damage and bug problem. I don't know if Tony's Pest Control treated the lawn during the our six month stay in MI, but they did charge for their services. We have never had a ant problem until 2014.
I asked Tony to re-sod the damaged lawn and if he didn't, I would contact various agencies. He said "I don't need you as a customer; I have 2,500 customers a week" and stormed into his vehicle. A few minutes later Tony came out of his vehicle and handed me his business card with writing on the back of it, stating the steps we would incur when the lawn was re sodded by him. Said he would contact a sodding company and agreed to repair the damaged lawn.
On Dec. 29, 30 and Jan 5, I left messages for him to call me back, he never did call me even though I left many messages on his phone. I mailed a certified letter to Tony's business reiterating all that has occurred and a date of Jan 24, 2015 deadline for us to settle on this claim. He never called me although I repeatedly asked him. Tony texted to meet him at his office to come to a resolution, this was a waste of our time since he had no intention of settling, just one of many ploys to duck responsibility of his company damaging our lawn. He could have called me over the phone and settled
this claim, but he choose not to. Tony also texted that he would countersue for slander if we filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Said he was not liable because we had an agreement, don't think that would cover anything if the work was not done properly.
Tony is not a man of his word .... it will cost us about $1`,500 to repair the lawn
( Update: I filed a small claims action against this company)
