Started well enough, Dave informed me that he would arrange a time to come out and spray the weeds and return a few days later to spray again, a few days from there he would scrap off the old grass and check for grubs and spray them if necessary, then check and adjust the sprinklers for full coverage before installing the new sod at a cost of $1475.00. He also informed me they wouldn't be removing any of my chain link fence, but they did.
Now for what really happened. he never called to arrange a time to come out. They would just randomly show up and this was upsetting because (as he knew) I have two dogs that use their fenced in backyard allot. I don't want them exposed to those chemicals and Dave knew that. He even mentioned they may get a tummy ache and throw-up, but that's it. I wonder if he let's his kids roll around in toxic chemicals. So, if they show up at random and I'm at work, come home and let the dogs out and expose them...too bad for the dogs. Next, I don't even know if he sprayed a second time. I called him to arrange the second spray and
he didn't return my call. Again, when I came home from work, my backyard had been scrapped. I don't know if he checked for grubs. He never said a word about it. He laid the sod the following day and was gone. A few days later my grass is dying and I notice the sprinklers are shooting into the neighbors yard and over my roof. Great! I go out and adjust my sprinklers the best I can. He shows up for his check, tells me he will be taking care of a few things and dropping off a care manual. I accidentally overpaid him and called him within hours to let him know. That was almost a week ago and three phone calls later, I still haven't heard from him and he still hasn't showed up to do those few things.
So terribly disappointed with this company. He will not be the one to re-sod my front yard or anyone else's yard that I may know. I hope it was worth it for him and his wife to take my overpayment and not return it. That little bit of money cost them allot.
This is how it went.
I called Sod Doctors on August 12th and they came out and gave me an estimate. While not the cheapest in town, they were however right about in the middle, and knew what the were talking about. As i am a retired superintendent from the golf course industry with over 45 years of experience. I know a thing or two about sod and proper sod installation. Let me tell you that Sod Doctors from Start to Finish did everything by the book.
1. They started by spraying the yard with round up to kill my yard not once but twice
2. They removed the old sod by correctly by using a sod cutter
3. They then smoothed out my yard and brought in fill to ensure a proper finish grade
4. The sod they brought in and installed was cut that day and very healthy,
5. When the yard was installed they then rolled the yard with a 1 ton roller and adjusted my sprinkler heads.
As i said, Real Pros. it took them only 2 days to remove and install 6400 sq ft of Empire Zoysia Sod.
