The facility is nice, and I have a personal trainer and he is nice. The people who sign me up changed their mind about the pricing, so I am beginning to not trust them. At first everything was great, but I think they are charging more for the personal trainer than what they said before. The facility is nice but what they are charging us is different for what they said. The girl at the desk was very rude about letting my grandchildren come. Originally they stated that my grandchildren could come for 3 weeks but they changed their mind and said they could only come for two.
While the salesman gave me a complete tour of the facility before signing up, he did not go into the detail of the use of the machines much...only the layout of the machines. A promise of a more detailed tour, along with the free training session, was given after I signed up.
RE: the free training session! The trainer was nice and friendly and he was there with me with all the exercises, but while he gave me a "program" of 4 or 5 exercises, 2 or 3 of which were considered mat exercises. I had 2 machine exercises. The treadmill and one other one for my upper body. I was not shown how to work or set up either one of the machines. They were set for me by the trainer. I guess the directions/settings for the machine set up will be further explained IF and/or WHEN I sign up for training classes (at an additional cost, of course). I cannot afford the additional training classes and that was something I told him up front...maybe that's why I got the short treatment session. That shouldn't make any difference because when you have signed up for the use of the gym and its equipment, knowing how the equipment works should be part of it, do you agree? I think the trainer is there to set up a program/regimen of different excercises to get your final results.
I would imagine this is the way all fitness centers work. You get a taste of training and the ease of having someone to set up the program and machines for you.
While the facility if impressive and I know eventually learn to use the machines, I think there should be some sort of "orientation" for those who need it on how to set them up. Whether that's done by the trainer or the salesman that signs you up or some other person, it doesn't matter.
Everything else is fine. As I said everything was impressive and the staff were friendly. I didn't go out to the pool area but it looked fine. The bathroooms/locker room were clean. I have no issues with any of that.
That's my 2 cents worth :)
If you go in the afternoon like I do, it's extremely crowded - good luck getting on the machine or bench that you want. The crowd doesn't start to thin out until after 8pm. Weekends are much less busy. If you want to use the basketball court, that is very crowded in the afternoon also. There's only enough room for one game at a time, so you can't even shoot around while the game is going on.
Be sure to wear gloves and bring a towel because the benches and machines are very rarely ever wiped down. Water from the drinking fountains is unfiltered, so you'll also want to bring your own water.
After going to this gym for a year, I think I'm ready for a switch. The overcrowding in the afternoon and limited open hours aren't working well for me. Plus, part of the reason I signed up here was for the basketball court, but since it's always overcrowded, I never get to use it anyways.
