I needed new blinds for my home in Cape Coral. I was so tired of the same old kind that many people have, and wanted my windows to make a statement. I went to the showroom and Jaime helped me choose some very elegant and functional blinds for my bedroom windows, and really cool verticals for my sliding doors. Mr. Roberts came to my home within days to measure exactly and I placed the order. The cost was less than I thought, so I actually ordered a few additional window blinds for the kids bathroom. Just a few weeks later my order was in, and the installers came with a clearly marked truck that said Blind and Shutter Gallery on it. I could see a few of my neighbors taking notice that I was getting new blinds. Two men, Craig and Tim greeted my dogs after introducing themselves to me. My dogs don't like many people, but they never left these guys alone as they watched each room get a new window life. I am so amazed at the transformation good blinds can do to a home. Since the installation, I have recommended this company to all my jealous neighbors. Feel free to use us as a reference, you have our number.

Wow! What a great experience. I visited the showroom in Cape Coral and was educated by a very knowledgeable young lady, Jessica. I knew I wanted white shutters, so this was an easy process choosing from the several on display. Dave came to my home and measured each window and made some great suggestions regarding fit and style. Very professional and dressed nicely. I was even happier when he gave me the pricing for my windows, which was much less than another Hunter Douglas company that my neighbor used. I couldn't have been more pleased when my order came in earlier than we thought and I set up a date for the installation. The 2 installers were the best part of my experience. Kind, courteous and I could tell they loved their job. We walked through the project quickly together, and they were already aware of the exact placement of each shutter. They worked nonstop, quietly, and occasionally asked me questions to make small talk, which made me feel comfortable getting to know these nice gentlemen. When completed, they showed me the functionality and presented me with my warranty card to register my products. Excellent service from selection to installation. I wish I could adopt everyone at Blind and Shutter Gallery, they felt like family.

Originally I thought the installation went well and I the order process was good but I went back up north for the summer and when I returned after Hurricane Irma, I decided to clean my windows. I found out the two small windows (19x64) in the Master Bedroom will not tilt in for cleaning because the frame on the plantation shutters is too large and blocks the window from opening inward. The middle window (36x64) will tilt in for cleaning. I called their office and texted pictures on November 2 showing the problem with the shutters in my master bedroom. I cannot use the double hung feature to clean my two smaller windows (approx 19x64) on each side of a larger window (36x64) because of the way the plantation shutters were made. I can tilt the middle window (36x64) but the frame needs to be larger for the two smaller windows to allow the two smaller windows to tilt for cleaning. I received a response email today, November 16, saying I was told the windows would not tilt in with the shutters installed which I know I was never advised of this! I would not have purchased the shutters for the window if that were the case. I paid $850 for just the master bedroom window covering and I would have opted for draperies or would have looked for another company to do custom shutters for that window. I cannot get outside to clean the MB windows as it is on the 2nd floor above a large pond and way too tall for me to safely use a ladder. Now I have to pay someone to clean two windows because Blind & Shutter Gallery will not do anything to rectify the situation. The window blinds should be custom made to resolve the problem, not tell me there is nothing they can do. The owner, Dave did advise me of an issue with my bedroom door window which leads out to the lanai. I would have to get custom shaped blinds which I did not like the looks of to compensate for a horizontal door handle, or get the door handle replaced. I opted to change the door handle. No issues there. But no one advised me and it was not in my sales contract that it would be an issue and I would be unable to use my two small MB window tilt function. I want this issue rectified. I am extremely upset with the issue and with their lack of assistance for resolution.
Response from Blind & Shutter Gallery
"Mrs. [Member Name Removed], I appreciate your patronage of my business. I am also confused about why you would blame me for the clearance issues with your windows, since you ordered your shutters prior to having your new windows installed. When I visited your home, I provided an extremely thorough explanation as to how the shutters would be installed, using frame samples. You made [Member Information Removed] mention of any specific features your new windows would have that your existing windows did not have. You purchased 8 shutters and only 1 opening has a clearance issue. I take pride in my career and my business and provide extremely thorough and detailed explanations of our products and processes during my in-home sales consultations. However, I can not predict the future, and would have had [Member Information Removed] means of knowing the specific features of the windows you were having installed, since you had [Member Information Removed] sample of the window at your home. If you had made it clear your new windows would have a 'tilt-in' sash, then I would've advised you of the risk with purchasing your shutters prior to having the new windows installed. Respectfully, Dave"

Selection and installation went extremely well.  My windows had a bit of an unusual configuration for the type of shutters I wanted.  Although there was a bit of a delay in recognizing that there could be a problem with what I wanted and what could be done,  Dave made an extra trip out to the house to discuss modifications that would need to be made to accommodate the windows and was very clear about what options there were.  The ordering of the shutters was prompt and installation went smoothly.  Installers were very professional & courteous during a long day.  Love the results!  In addition, the pricing was very competitive for a high quality product.

The salesman who came out and measured was very helpful and spend about 2 hours with us. The company was able to deliver our custom shutters in less than 3 weeks (other companies had a much longer wait). The installers did a wodnerful job and cleaned up completely when they were done.

We used the Blind & Shutter Gallery a few years ago to cover most of our windows with Plantation shutters and again, they did not disappoint. We went to the store to pick out the material we wanted from a vast selection and Jessica there was a big help.  Dave, the owner then came to measure and was very accurate and professional.  The blinds arrived within the time frame that was promised and were installed promptly.  They work and look beautiful and we are very happy with the product and the store.  I highly recommend the Blind  & Shutter Gallery.  You won't be disappointed.

Note:I recently attended an event where I got into an Angie's List discussion with a couple regular reviewers. I was disappointed to hear that they only submit "positive" reviews, both claiming they are apprehensive to submit negative reviews for a business who knows who they are and where they live. It's so unfortunate to realize that users of AL are only getting half the story on many of these businesses. Here is my story, in all its F-rated glory:

Completely awful experience working with owner Dave Roberts. My experience sounds like it was similar to another reviewer in that Dave is great before the deal, and absolutely horrific to deal with if anything goes wrong.

I ordered my blinds to be ?inside mount.? Dave said that they would be ?semi-flush inside mount?, explaining that they would protrude from the  casing about an inch, rather than being completely flush. I said that was fine, but explained that I just didn't want anything - the actual mechanism or the decorative rail - above or outside of the casing on top, as that would then appear to be "outside mount". I was adamant that I did not want " anything mounted on the actual wall or paint." He assured me it would not be. I even took the time to visit his store to be sure of what I was getting, and to confirm that the protrusion was something I could live with. He either intentionally lied to me or he messed up the measurements.

You might think that paying $3,000 for blinds that I hate the looks of would be the worst part of this, but you'd be wrong; the absolute worst part was trying to talk to the owner about the problem. He was instantly irate, defensive and even threatening.
As soon as I realized the blinds were installed incorrectly, I told the installer I wanted to talk to Dave. He called Dave and the two of them went back-and-forth. When I interrupted and asked to speak with him directly, the installer hung up the phone, apologized to me and said that Dave was refusing to talk to me, that he had a contract and he (the installer) was advised to not leave my house without payment. I assured the installer that I had no intention of NOT paying, but I wanted to talk to Dave about what happened. I then called the store and spoke with Jessica, telling her I didn't get what I thought I was getting, and I wanted to talk to Dave to see if it can be fixed. Jessica replied: "He was supposed to trim it down to fit inside." Yep, that's what I thought. I finally got Dave on the phone and in a word it was a nightmare. The man was extremely angry and as another reviewer wrote "LOUD", accusing me of wasting his time and pulling him away from another customer. Keep in mind I had no issues with Dave up until this point, but before I even said one word, he was yelling at me. "I PAY MY GUYS $150 BUCKS AN HOUR. I want them out of your house RIGHT NOW. PAY THEM NOW OR WE'LL RIP THEM OUT AND YOU WILL BE SUED." I held the phone away from my ear and let him rant a bit, but he would not stop to let me speak. Finally, I literally (and this is not an exaggeration) had to yell, ?Dave, Dave, Dave.? to get him to stop talking. I said "Please listen to what I'm trying to explain to you." His exact words: "No. I don't have to listen to you. I have a signed contract. I don't care if you're not happy - that's why I have a contract." I have never experienced anything like it in my entire life. His words and tone were so angry and aggressive that had the conversation been in person rather than over the phone, I would have been scared, and I'm not one to scare easily.
I knew at that moment there was no chance he would attempt to fix the work so I had no choice but to pay because I had a second house showing scheduled and I promised the buyers the blinds would be installed.  But I did not get what I ordered.
If you end up using Blind and Shutter Gallery, I sincerely hope you have no issues. If you do, you will likely find yourself trying to communicate and remedy the problem with a very hostile and irate owner who will attempt to intimidate you by threatening to sue you, not just for refusing to pay, but also if you write a negative review. Yes, you read that right; if he follows through on his threat, I will be sued for submitting this review. I?ll provide updates after the trial which will henceforth be known as the 2015 Landmark Case of Blind v. Sighted.
I'll close with something positive. Installer Danny is a super nice guy. Consider putting him in charge of customer relations.
P.S.
They neglected to extend the Angie's List coupon as well, even though Dave told me that they would. Thanks for nothing, Blind and Shutter Gallery.

Great.  My experience with Blind and Shutter Gallery has been a positive experience.  From the first phone call to the office, the initial measurement of the windows, to the coordination of install and the install itself was exceptionally.  The window of time they gave me for the initial measurement of the windows, the time that the verticals would arrive at the shop to the install was right on schedule.  My experience with the owner, the office staff and the installers I found to be very professional and courteous.
