Alfie's Install Services Inc

First of all I want to say that the name of this company was
legally changed to “Costal Coverings” in June 2014.
The responsiveness and professionalism scores I gave him were an average of an and quot;Aand quot; score for the beginning of the job and an and quot;F'and quot; score for the completion of the job.
Alfie was referred to me by a tile wholesaler. I needed someone
who would do the job in stages and after talking with and meeting with numerous
tile contractors Alfie was the only one who listened to me and was willing to
work with my schedule. Due to problems with the cabinet supplier the entire job
took almost 10 months. But Alfie was there whenever we needed him.
The floor tile was installed perfectly. And that was not
small feat because our house is not made of right angles. We were exceptionally
pleased. So we added glass backslash to the scope of work as well as a little tile
work to dress up the shower. Except for using the wrong color grout in the
shower it turned out OK. The problem was with the glass tile backsplash.
We had formed what I thought was a bond with Alfie and his
crew so I had no problem paying him when the backsplash was installed. It was
quite a job and took a couple of days longer than anticipated. After everyone
left I looked at the tile and I was not at all happy the cuts of the glass. Apparently
they did not have the proper saw to cut this glass and the edges were terrible
feathered. It really looks terrible on all of the corners. I showed it to Alfie
when he came out to finish the shower floor. We came up with a possible way to
cover it up with caulk. If that did not work he would have to remove it and try
cutting it with a different saw. This tile is very expensive but I do have a
bit of it left over. He said he would order caulk to match the grout and would
be back out on Wednesday. That was 2 and frac12; months ago. I have called him and
emailed him a number of times. Then a couple of weeks ago out of the blue he
called and said he was cleaning out his truck and found the caulk and that he
would be out on Monday morning. Monday morning became Tuesday morning and then
Tuesday evening. He still has not shown up. I have given up on him and ordered
the caulk myself. If I cannot get it to work I will have to hire someone else
to fix the problem.
There were a couple of other very small things he was
supposed to do which he did not do. I am still trying to find out what the
color he used to grout the shower is called because he missed a spot and he did
not leave any extra grout. I have asked him at least 5 times and he has not
responded.

Purchased a home and wanted to replace existing tile and carpet, more than 1600 square feet of tile. Alfie met with us to view all the work and take measurements to provide a quote. We met/interviewed with four other contractors and received quotes). Alfie's quote was not the least expensive but he was Professional and portrayed a higher level of and quot;attention-to-detailand quot; and correct methodology. He and his team showed up on time and worked Hard and Long hours including week-end until the job was completed. Their workmanship was excellent and the finished product equalled / surpassed the commitment promised during the initial and quot;interviewand quot; ...and I am and quot;pickyand quot; -and gt; Looks and quot;Beautifuland quot; ...!!! Thanks Alfie, Luis and team.

I would not use him for saltillo tile again.

Alfie's tile work is excellent--his workers tile work is very good. The worker tiled around the drain, and when we had to remove the drain cover a month later the small bits of tile came off and went down the drain. Not sure why he cut the tiles in that area like he did, but my husband will try to fix it. They did the tile work exactly as it was explained to us. We now have a shower that drains and the other one that we can step into without the fear of tripping.

My husband and I decided to treat ourselves and have someone else do the wall preparation. However, fixing Alfie's Drywall resurfacing mess was far harder and took far longer than if we had just done it ourselves. I was so very disappointed.I told Alfie about it, but he did not come look at it. His worker was there for 6 hours one day and two hours one day. Alfie wanted to charge me for two day's work @ $120 a day. We settled on $150 total. If I had realized how hard it was going to be to correct the problems, I would have insisted that he come look, and I would have argued over paying even $150. It was a terrible experience. (For my comments on the excellent CERAMIC TILE work they performed, check under that heading. I hope Angie's List will allow me to write separate reviews.)

Alfie did an excellent job. He showed up when he said he would start the job. His guys cleaned the work site every day. They removed all the debris from the property from tearing out the existing tile and bathrooms. The work was done in the time estimated. The job done was executed very well. Alfie picked up tile and supplies as needed. His guys were courteous and very hard working. I would highly recommend Alfie Garcia for your tile job. I plan to have him to my back splash in the future.

He does tile, marble, wood, and shower reconstruction. He's licensed and insured. I would recommend him highly. He's dependable, reasonable, shows up on time, prices are right, and he does a good job.
