Dave Sherman is a gem. I would give him 10 stars if I could. My husband and I needed a survey of our yard with particular attention to a property line that adjoined a next door neighbor who is in the process of putting up a wall around his property. We had heard that the owner of the other house had mentioned removing our chain link fence because he thought it went over his property line. Initially we tried contacting the company that did the survey associated with our fence installation. They were totally useless stating they couldn't fit us in for 10 weeks, and they refused to share their original survey with us because it was over 3 years old. We wanted clarification of where the line was so that the wall and fence ended up in the correct locations. We were so lucky to find Total Control Surveys on Angie's List. Dave spent almost three days doing our survey- much more than he anticipated. Markers had been removed which forced him to go up and down the street trying to get accurate readings. In addition, other markers were covered over or difficult to measure due to heavy growth on our property. When he completed his work, Dave learned that our fence was, in fact on our property. Instead of just relaying this information to us, Dave made the extra effort to find our neighbor's survey through building permits. He learned that our neighbor's surveyor had made a mistake which showed the back portion of our fence in our neighbor's yard. Dave then contacted that surveyor and discussed it, giving him the chance to make a correction. The other surveyor went back out and did indeed admit that he had made an mistake, and that our fence was not over the property line. Dave had to make multiple calls and send many emails to the other surveyor who wasn't anxious to investigate this. His efforts were invaluable. Dave is a perfectionist who is wonderful to deal with. We would definitely use his services again, and we highly recommend him.

I AM SO GLAD I FOUND TOTAL CONTROL SURVEYORS. DAIVD WAS PROFESSOINAL, FRIENDLY AND VERY DETAILED. I CONTACTED HIM AND HE WAS QUICK TO GET BACK TO ME AND WAS ABLE TO GET OUT TO SURVEY MY PROPERTY THE FOLLOWING WEEK. HE DID A FANTASTIC JOB OF MARKING THE BOUNDARY LINES, AND STAKING THE PROPERTY. MOST OF ALL HE WAS VERY GOOD ABOUT EXPLAINING WHAT HE WAS DOING AND ANSWERING ANY QUESTIONS I HAD. I AM PLEASE WITH RESULTS AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM TO OTHERS.

David did an excellent job with the survey. The survey contained the placement of all of the trees which was very helpful as it cleared-up ownership. David was very prompt and professional. Total Control Surveys was an absolute pleasure to do business with. David Sherman is a total professional who has a passion for his craft. He will not try to sell you something that you do not need, so there is absolutely no pressure in dealing with this man. He was amazingly thorough and I was surprised at the amount of work and time he spent on this job for the money we paid. He was extremely flexible and worked around our schedule. He met us in the evenings or weekends to go over his work product, answer any questions, etc. He was extremely patient with us and made sure we understood every aspect of our survey and our rights with regard to our property boundaries. He even gave us a bit of a history lesson about our property and our area as he researched the historic records associated with the property and area to insure we were getting the most accurate records possible. All property boundaries were well marked by David and we also spent the few extra dollars on having him draw up a map. I was not going to spend the extra money for this, but was truly glad I decided to do it. It was an amazing work product that now becomes a permanent record of the town. David was an absolute pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend him to anyone requiring a professional survey.

I highly recommend David Sherman of Total Control Surveys, LLC.  I was in need of a survey on my residential property in East Lyme, CT.  I had contacted several local surveyors and went under agreement with them to do this survey for me only to have them, one after the other, not show up to do the work.  I was beginning to think that I would not find a surveyor who's word was any good.  I was on Angie's List leaving Negative feedback for a Surveyor out of New Britain, CT when I saw that Total Control Surveys had an "A" rating and a ton of reviews so I gave David Sherman a call.  I short; he answered his own phone, took all my information, gave me a fair estimate for the work, came right out and conducted the survey then provided me with a very well done mylar that I was able to quickly record with the town. It was seamless.  His communication was excellent, he always keep me up to date with what was going on and what to expect.  He was extremely professional and prompt...basically everything you could ask for.  You would think that this would be the basics that you would expect from any professional surveyor but from my experience it is not, there are a lot of clowns out there.  David Sherman on the other hand is the real deal, old school, professional, a man of his word.  His Rating is well deserved.

I had contacted Dave to perform a survey on my property that I have owned now for a year and a half, as this has never been done on this property since its construction in 1950. I am a corner lot, and abut two neighbors. The property lines seemed to be so obscure between neighbors, that I was even unsure as to where I should be mowing my lawn! Dave and I had email contact where I advised what I would like done, as I was looking to eventually erect a fence. He explained the job in detail and provided a cost break down of each service performed. He was much fairer than a previous quote I had received, with much more attention to detail of services to be performed. We decided to move forward with the survey, and although he was very busy, he was able to fit time in to complete the project sooner than expected. Dave was very professional, even having to deal with my nosy, and somewhat rowdy - rough around the edges - neighbors. They are very confrontational and always in everyone's business, and you can't predict what kind of mood they will be in for the next time you see them. I wasn't even there to be able to serve as a buffer, but you can bet I heard all about it! Giving this, Dave's promptness and professionalism was even more appreciated! The sooner I can get a fence up, the better! I had not purchased a map of the survey that would be filed with the town at the time of the service, but Dave let me know that it can be available for purchase should I choose to do so at a later date. It is my intent to do so. All in all, I thank Dave for his exceptional service, and wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again!
