On 09-21-2021, through the recommendations on Angi Website I hired Cliff's Septic Services Inc. to pump out my septic tank and provide me a written quote if repairs are needed. The driver stated that he was only there to pump out the septic tanks and it may need a new Drain Filed. He also stated the owner would come out to verify, but he was not going to say or recommend anything regarding the Septic Tank. Note: He did an excellent job in pumping out the Septic Tank Prior to the drive leaving I provided him a Coupon from Angi that stated the following: "Cliff's Septic Service Inc. Septic Tank - $10.00 off for Angi Consumers on Septic Tank Pumping Only. Cannot be combine with other offers". The driver stated we do not accept any coupons and took a photo of the coupon so he could give to his management. I called their office, and they still would not honor the coupon and later sent me an e-mail and said to contact Angi. The company said they called Angi regarding my coupon and it may have been a computer glitch and for me (Customer) to contact Angi. Note: A repeatable company would have honored the coupon and contacted Angi themselves to resolve this issue not telling the customer to call them. After reading Google with the number of negative reviews; how can this company receive the rating listed by BBB and Angi.
Response from Cliff's Septic Svc Inc
"We are uncertain as to what you are giving us a negative rating on. You state in your review that the technician went out to your site and pumped the tank and did a visual inspection of the tank and drain field. Only after would we contact you about system repair, if needed. You were quoted a price for the pump and initial inspection of the system, to which you agreed. That was the service that you requested and was provided. When the technician arrived you presented a 'coupon' that had not been mentioned at the scheduling of the service. Then the 'coupon' was not a valid coupon. When you contacted our office, we contacted Angi.com about this 'coupon'. Their customer service could not find any such coupon on their website and ownership of Cliff's never approved of any such coupon. So, as we explained to you on the phone and in writing, Angi.com (themselves) suggested you contact them directly about this coupon that apparently only you can see. Which we responded to your issue within 24 hours of your question, simply because it was not the answer you wanted does NOT make us unresponsive (the one star). We are sorry to hear that you feel we are 'disreputable', because we will not accept a coupon that we didn't create or approve. It seems that your issue is with Angi's website not with Cliff's, since Angi is a third party."

This was my first and last time using Cliff's Septic Svc Inc to pump my septic tank, and my dire warning to anyone thinking about hiring them. The driver arrived late and without a phone call and proceeded to poke a probe with a spike indiscriminately over the side of my yard and into my neighbors yard. As he got closer to my house at the edge of my property, water began flowing from one of the holes from the probe. He stated it was overflow from my septic being so full. After finding the covers to my septic he began pumping it out. Meanwhile, the water is still flowing from the growing hole right into the tank he is pumping out. A while later he told me that it was not septic water, but from my sprinkler system or water main. He suctioned off some of the water from the hole to see the problem, but that created a 15 foot plume of water coming from the hole. He insisted it was a pre-existing problem that he only uncovered. It was in fact my water main coming in from the street. As I frantically tried to shut it off, he finished pumping and started to cover the septic lids even as water from the main streamed back into the tank. He didn't even hose the sides and the sludge of the bottom. I was unsuccessful turning off the water main, so I called the water department to shut it off. Still insisting it was a pre-existing problem, the driver had me sign for the pump out and pay, then he left. Twenty minutes later, the water department came and shut of the water main. He stated the repair and hundreds of gallons off water I lost were my problem. I got a shovel and dug out the hole to see what had happened. What I found was a perfectly round puncture in my main from the probe. I called Cliff's Septic Svc Inc, but I only got an answering machine. I left a message that the driver had punctured my main and I was now without water. Plumbers charge upward of $300 plus to come and repair pipes after hours, but a friend of my neighbors (handyman) said he would come repair it for $100 cash. He came, repaired the damage, and turned my main water line back on. I was angry, so I put a hold on my bank account until the situation could be resolved The next morning I received a call from Cliff's Septic Svc Inc. I explained everything that had happened and she immediately got a nasty attitude. She stated they are not responsible for any of the damage and that it states it on the receipt I signed. However, the owner might take it under consideration and meet me halfway if I send an invoice from the licensed plumber that repaired the work. I tried to contact the man that did the work, but later realized he probably was not a licensed plumber, but a handyman. I still tried to contact him for an invoice because I figured a repair was a repair, why should it matter? Later that afternoon, Cliff's Septic Svc Inc called back furious that I had put a hold on my bank account. I had already taken the hold off of my back account after the morning phone call, so the must have run the card early in the morning. Apparently they had run the full amount before I could even get back to them about the repair invoice. I said “I thought the owner might take it under consideration and meet me halfway if I provide and invoice?” She then went on a complete tirade that actually left me shaky after the call. She said “I am responsible for the work that was done and maybe the owner would have taken it under consideration by sending me a check but I doubt he will now.” She said “It does not sound like a licensed plumber preformed the work.” She said repeatedly that “It states on the receipt they are not responsible for any damage they cause.” Being really upset by the really bad customer service, I said “Fine, just run the card. She said “NO, it was too late and someone would be calling me Monday”… and she said it like a threat. I said fine and she hung up. So, just so we are clear: • The driver LIED about damaging my water main, never called it in, and simply walked away from the mess after doing a mediocre job pumping my tank and leaving a mess in my yard. • The company claims they are not responsible for any damage even though my water main IS NOT over the access plug to my septic tank as per there receipt that was signed AFTER the job was done “Not Responsible For Any Wires Lines, Sprinkler Heads, Etc. That Are Over Access Plug Of The Septic Tank” • The repair I had done to restore water to my house must be done by a licensed plumber or it does not count for some unknown reason. Please be aware that this company can come onto your property and cause expensive damage then claim they are responsible for NOTHING. If you dare to express a bad experience with this company, you will be met with utter nastiness.

This is the third time that Cliff's has pumped our septic tank. I would rate the first two times as an "A". This time I would rate it a "D". The driver did pump the tank, but didn't take the time to hose the sides and try to get the sludge of the bottom. He didn't bother to seat the cover properly and took the old garbage bags from the previous service and stuffed them in the gap. He then told me I needed a new cover, put the dirt back over it and was done. I knew after the 2nd service that I needed a new drain field and asked to have quote done. I never heard back from them. I asked again when I scheduled the 3rd service and again haven't heard back from them after 3 weeks. I've called a different company for a quote. Hopefully they will get back to me.

Crew arrived on time - very professional and courteous - had the entire job done in approximately 3 hours (not like the several days others quoted) I am absolutely amazed at the professionalism displayed by the men and their knowledge- they answered all questions asked. The price quoted was the price paid - we had no unforeseen issues arise - they even had arranged for the County inspection to be done so we did not have to wait with a huge hole in the yard! I highly recommend them! For such a stressful time they made it so much easier I am so very glad we chose them! I highly recommend them! A++++++

Amazing. First time to be serviced and very hard to remove two plastic screw on tops. totally drained and cleaned the tank, replaced the lids and dirt. It took several hours of hard work to pop the lids before he could pump the tank. Price included 1 qt of liquid RidX to help break up future solids. Barry pried the lids off using a crowbar and wood and a cinderblock as a fulcrm. My grandson helped as he was afraid I would have to pay more if it took too long to remove the lids. To put the lids back on, Barry asked Brandob, my grandson to jump on the lid to set it in place. He fell into the tank but did not get hirt. Barry then set the lid down on the manhole and jumped onit and recovered the tank with dirt. Feb 10 I was outside and noticed water bubbling up rom the tank and I dug to see where it was coming from and noticed the lid was askew. I took pictures and sent them to Linda as requested and Barry told her the tank was lopsided and he did the best he could and for me to put a tarp over it and cover it with dirt. I called the health dept permitting department and found out I have a Farlo 2 chamber tank 1060 gal. capacity with 2 screw on lids. I called the company and they said, never pry off the lids. He should have used 3 galvanized iron pipes, one in each indentation of the kid, the other to use as a lever to unscrew the lid. I am 75 years old. I was very upset by Barrys answer and my daughter is very upset that my grandson was allowed to help and could have been seriously hurt. Barry should have refused to pump the tank when he saw he didn't know how to remove the lid correctly. I have called KW septic services and they told me as soon as they have an opening they will come out and yes they are familiar with my tank and actually have a proper tool to remove the lid and will give me a price to install a riser.

They did an excellent job and explained the process and how the septic works. He also snaked out my main drain to clear the old grease to get it flowing again. That was attually the main issue.

Septic issue started over the weekend. I called first thing Monday morning & they had Blake out by 1:30. They called to keep me updated & Blake arrived promptly. Thought it was just a pump out issue, but there was a blockage caused by roots. He took care of the problem rather than having us call a plumber. Excellent service!
