"Alan's Roofing, Inc. offers a variety of shingles to install on our roofs. We give our customers as much information as possible including durability, wind resistance and color selection to help them make an educated decision. We help our customers with their selection process as much as possible but we never choose the final product. Our customer is responsible for making their final choice of shingle type and color."
for quality assurance or satisfaction and when I was finally contacted by the
company, they were calling for remittance of final payment. I let them know that a couple of the shingles
weren't laying down and the contractor told me that it would take three weeks
for them to lay down. I let him know
that's great, because it's already been three weeks since the install.
Contractor was supposed to show up by 6pm that evening to fix the issue and
receive payment. I waited until 7pm for
him to show up and then had some errands to run. When I returned, I found the bill attached to
the front door with comments on it saying "possible nail pop". I figured they were going to fix it and I
didn't follow up with them. I was
contacted on 4/13/16 asking for payment.
I let him know that the issue had still not been resolved and he let me
know that he would be there by 6pm that evening. Contractor showed up at 6pm asking for the
check. I let him know that he needed to
resolve the issue with the shingle. He
went up on the roof and tried to nail it down.
He let me know that it's purely cosmetic and not structural. I'm not used to shotty work being done for me
and I expect things to be done correctly.
He said that he would go back to the office and put in a workorder to
get it fixed, but would require the check immediately. I was told by the sales guy that I would not
have to pay until I was satisfied with the job and I kindly let him know that
he can have the check once the issue was resolved. The contractor wasn't having it and said that
the only way he would fix it is if I pay them first. He then instructed me that
if I didn?t pay immediately, he would put a lien against the property and that
I would be responsible for all legal fees associated with it. I am fully willing to pay for the work and I?ve
had the check ready in hand for almost a month now, but I need it fixed. Contractor kept saying it?s a warranty
repair. To me a warranty means if
something goes wrong after the work has been completed; however I don?t believe
the job to be completed until both sides agree that the work has been
finished. I would not recommend Alan?s
Roofing and I will not be using them for any of my other properties. It?s sad that a company would risk bad
publicity over something so simple to fix.
They have left a bad taste in my mouth and I wish I would have gone with
Total Home Roofing or Collis Roofing.
"This small cosmetic fix was resolved on 4/9/16. Photos were presented to client and client paid in full on 4/9/16."
"Alan’s Roofing, Inc. appreciates all of our customers and their satisfaction is very important to us. Valuing our customers has made us a well respected business in our community and in the top of our field since 1987. When [member name removed] first contacted us in July 2013 we gave her an estimate to replace her roof that included her lanai. Months later she contacted us again for another estimate. Due to her finances, this time we gave her an estimate that did not include her lanai. [member name removed] singed a contract with Alan’s Roofing, Inc on December 12, 2013. This contract was for the amount of $5,000 which does not include her lanai. She was also advised there would be an additional charge for replacing all rotten wood. Several of our employees have spent numerous hours reviewing documents and showing [member name removed] pictures of her roof while it was being installed. As a courtesy, we have offered [member name removed] a 50% discount on the amount owed to us for the wood we used to secure her roof. Although she still owes us a balance for her roof, she is enjoying the comfort and protection of a brand new roof that will serve her for many years to come. We appreciate [member name removed] business and are looking forward to getting this issued resolved as quickly as possible through her honorable payment for her new roof pursuant to the contractual commitment she entered into in December. Sincerely, Alan Field"
The teardown debris was piled up on the lawn "in the HOT sun" all day, which damaged several areas of my new sod lawn installed several months earlier. I noted it to them and nothing was done to repair it.
They tore and damaged several gutters, which they did replace the damaged ones, now the others don't match. Why did they not remove them is a surprise to me.
The singles that I requested had to be ordered, which was not an issue with me to wait for them to come in.
Communication could also be better. The 2 man crew showed up, knocked on the door and mentioned they were here to begin the roof.
I never received a call from the company that the roofers were to begin that day.
A job like this required at least 5 to 7 guys, to tear down, replace, and a constant cleanup ground crew. I confronted the salesman that a job like this required a good 5 to 6 guys, plus a ground crew to clear up the debris while the old roof was being torn down. All I got was excuses. At the end the roofers hired a ground person to perform cleanup while they were tearing down.
All the homes in my area are approx the same size, and many roofs have been replaced with 5-7 man crews and completed within a week.
When Alan Roofing did the home next store to me, there was a 7 man crew for the job. Why they only sent 2 is a matter of cost?
Wood Replacement if needed: If you contract with a roofer, most roofers include the wood if required. Alan did not on mine. There is a discrepancy in what i calculate and they calculations.
Job was completed and needed some adjustments. The quality of the job I would rate a 3.5 out of 5.
