Chief Home Inspections

This is the second time I have hired CHIEF HOME INSPECTIONS to conduct a home inspection of a property I wanted to purchase.
Over the years I have been thru numerous home inspections and Richard Hyland (owner) conducts the most thorough home inspection of all of them. He takes his time looking over the property and explains in detail what a given problem is, how it occurred, and what should be done to rectify the problem. I always learn a lot during a home inspection with Mr. Hyland. This is the only home inspector I will ever use in future and I highly recommend this company to all Angie's List members.

He was very puntcual and professional throughout the visit. I received his report with photos within hours of him completing the inspection. I would recommend his service, especially to new home buyers that may not be familiar with how important a good inspection is.

Very professional and responsive

The whole experience went very well. Richard Hyland did the inspection, after finishing his inspection he emailed me in pdf form a whole 43 page report. (noted it was sent very late at night). I just find that amazing. Again, his knowledge of all the "systems" of a house is outstanding. I would absolutely use him again, and highly recommend him.

Richard Hyland has performed inspections on homes for me on three sperate occasions. In all cases he was very thorough and helpful in explaining all aspects of the home. He went out of this way to point out anything we should keep an eye on and answer all our questions. His report was well documented with pictures and clear explanations on all findings. The documented faults on one house were significant enough to let us back out of the deal without losing our deposit. Mr. Hyland's report was very prompt and thorough. Finally he was extremely receptive to answering questions after the fact and was kind enough to let me pop his check in the mail when I forgot it the day of!

I telephoned CHIEF HOME INSPECTIONS and spoke with Mr. Richard Hyland who answered all of my questions in detail and provided me with the appointment date and time I was seeking. He stated that the home inspection would last four hours, which impressed me because the past home inspections I had witnessed were much shorter. Mr. Hyland sent me an email confirming our appointment and providing me with documentation outlining what would take place during the home inspection. On the day of the home inspection, Mr. Hyland was very punctual and immediately answered any questions or concerns I had about the house. Mr. Hyland took his time and pointed out and photographed every defect/damage that could be reasonably observed. He also explained the best way to have the defects/damage repaired and whether a professional would be required. Throughout the home inspection process I found Mr. Hyland to be extremely professional, detailed, informative, and personable. The day after the home inspection I received from Mr. Hyland a very professional and detailed home inspection report (including photographs). A great example of Mr. Hyland's professionalism is that a few days after the home inspection took place he was willing to speak with a HVAC contractor (hired by the seller of the house) regarding the fact that the AC was not working as effectively as it should have. The HVAC contractor was attempting to say that the AC was working "good enough and within normal parameters." We called Mr. Hyland to speak to this HVAC contractor over the phone because we thought it was better for two professionals to talk it over. After speaking with Mr. Hyland, the HVAC contractor's attitude changed regarding the AC and long story short a repair was completed and now my AC works much more efficiently. I believe the fact that Mr. Hyland was willing to speak/argue with the HVAC contractor despite the fact that he had completed his job and had no obligation to help me further speaks volumes as to Mr. Hyland's dedication to his profession and his clients. I will use CHIEF HOME INSPECTIONS for all my future home inspection needs and I would recommend all Angie's List members to use this company as well.
