Talked with company for the last 3 months.  Other companies have come out and they cannot do anything with me unless ADT releases the code.  ADT is harrassing me.  The alarm is buzzing every night in the middle of the night.  I cannot stop it without the code that they wont release unless I activate an account with them for about $14.  I have heard and seen reviews that this company has 4000 complaints against them.

They were expensive so we ended up cancelling our system. The local office guys didn't show up when they said they would and didn't do what they said they'd do. We had continuous problems that never got fixed. I had to redo the cameras myself as they weren't the best quality.

The original representative was fine as was the initial installation. The problem with ADT is always the service after the installation. They could care less whether your system operates as long as they get their monthly fee. I have had two service calls in the last thirty days. In both cases they could not schedule a service call for a week from the date of the call. In the first instance it didn't matter because the system was operating. The last call for service however was on 9/18/2014. They had an opening on 9/25, but I get off at 2pm and they are not willing to schedule a call between 230 and 5pm, only between 12-5 pm, with no guarantee of an arrival time. The techs are good when you can get one. The phone personnel vary from excellent to pathetic. My current problem is that the system cannot communicate with the central office. The technical representatives tried to blame it on cell tower outages until I checked the wireless panel at their request and found out that the wireless trouble light was not on. As a result of this failure my house is unprotected in the event of a break in except for the siren. As far as Pulse goes they do not monitor that per their representative, so for security purposes it is essentially useless. Lest you think this is an over reaction to a short term relationship, I would like to add I had ADT for ten years prior to changing to Brinks. Their service then was as poor as it is now, with the same time frames to get a tech to my house. In an effort to resolve this I spoke to the "Corporate Relations Department" which did me no good whatsoever. I was also told that as a USAA member they try to get service to us faster. That definitely has not been my experience. I told all the customer service represent if I told them if the system still would not communicate by October 4, I would pay the penalty and they would be removing the system.

I did have an occasion where my alarm went off and they called me and asked me if it's an emergency and I said "No".  They told me how to reset it and I was unable to reset so they send someone out to reset it and they charged me 25 dollars for that trip and I thought that was not necessary.  Since I couldn't have them fixed it over the phone, I had to do adjustment on the box which I was unable to do and something I could have done.

Got a second opinion from another security company.  They readily fixed the problem, disconnected me from ADT, lowered my monthly payments by 50% and the monitoring is superb

I already had an existing wired alarm system with them and decided I wanted to upgrade to a wireless system.  After they came out and upgraded everything I had been out of town taking care of my father for about 6 months and when I came back I found out the smoke detectors had not been signalling to ADT.  They would go off and not properly send the signal.  So ADT came out in early 2008 to fix it but my smoke detector would go off and it was still not signalling to ADT.  So I finally had another alarm company come out to check it out and it turns out ADT never upgraded the censors with the rest of the new equipment and wiring so it was not compatible.  I had this other company come out again they ended up replacing the entire smoke detector so it would be compatible with the wireless system.  I contacted ADT to get reimbursed for the charge of $217.74 that I had to pay the other company to fix the problem that ADT never did and they refused.  Even though I had a warranty but they told it was voided because I upgraded to a wireless system.  The lady I spoke to at ADT told me that if I did not have proof of what their technicians did when they came out I could not get any kind of reimbursement.  She also told me it was my responsibility to ask the technician to upgrade the censor, as if I am the alarm expert and I should have known this.  I thought when I had them come out to initially upgrade my entire alarm system to wireless they would upgrade all the equipment and necessary parts.  I have also found out that smoke detector censors are supposed to be changed every ten years by law and that censor was older then 10 years so they should have changed it regardless according to the law.  ADT continues to blame me for the problem and is still refusing to reimburse me.

Everything went pretty well while they were here, except the person that installed the system lead me to believe we would need a wireless systems which is a little more expensive as far as the monitoring is concerned. We do not need a wireless system because we already had one. With this system he was trying to sell, it was an extra $10 a month. Also, when I arranged for the system to be installed, I was told this included motion detection. I have called twice to get this motion detector installed, and I have not heard back. Last time I called, I told her that after the system was installed, someone had gotten into my home and taken the information I had gotten from the company which included how to change the code. This means that there was not a motion detector installed. They told me they only had sensors for 2 windows and we had more windows than that. I feel these motion detectors are necessary for my safety. We have dowels to protect the windows already. If I have to pay extra for the motion detector to have peace of mind, I will. I think the salesman was not completely honest with me, therefore it left my system vulnerable. I think that if they're going to represent the company, they should be mindful of what they told customer and don't try to oversell the customer for more commission. I would recommend dealing with the corporate owned and not franchises.

After 4 years of service at our home, we moved to a new location and asked ADT to disconnect our old service.  They said it takes 30 days to "process" the request--basically extorting another months fee out of a disconnected service.  Robbery!!
