Flooring by William Yanez

Things did not go well at all. William sells themselves as professionals but they are far from it. They are very charming, nice, and friendly but they are also prima donnas. They have a very inflated view of their own talent. Let me preface by saying that I am an interior designer and have done many remodels over the last 30 years. My husband is an engineer raised by a carpenter and has built homes from ground up. We know a little bit about construction and how a quality house is built. The original bid and conversation with William included demo of old shower pan and installation of new shower pan. Good thing we checked before it was too late because they did not remove the old shower floor tile or pan and they were planning to install the new tile on top of the old. We also agreed he would waterproof the hardy backer before tiling shower and bath walls, and they had already started installing the tile without the waterproofing with the red tape over the seams. In addition, they were not using spacers like we requested so the grout line on the walls were irregular and some non-existent. So, we had them start over. At this point, we were seriously discussing letting them go before the floors got installed. We are really nice people and like giving others a chance to prove themselves. But we were losing confidence in them quickly. They also didn't want to remove the old thin set on the floors before laying the new floors. So my husband rented a floor sander and did the work himself. That brings us to today. They didn't work today because they drove a cousin to the airport. The craftsmanship and integrity is simply lacking. They consistently tried taking shortcuts on the project. If you like good craftsmanship and quality work, they are not your contractors. So unfortunately we made the decision to let them go today. I hate to leave negative reviews but we gave them plenty of opportunity to step up to the plate, and I'd hate for this to happen to another client. They are not professionals. I would not recommend them. I wish we had a better outcome for both of us!
