Donn Myers, the owner of American General Construction was hired to remodel a two horse stall barn. The project included re-siding with Hardie board, reconfiguring wall openings, replacing and adding windows, replacing and building new doors, replacing a garage door, replacing light fixtures and painting. Donn did a large percent of the work himself and hired subs where needed and appropriate. From the estimating and permitting stage through the construction and clean up stage Donn exceeded all of our expectations. Donn is an honest, professional and skilled contractor who I would highly recommend and would use again in the future.

Donn arranged all aspects of the job, concrete, framing, roofing, trim, electrical, paint, aluminum, screen, tile, and finish. Subcontrators were qualified experts. Prices were fair and honest. Donn was careful to meet all requirements and complete all inspections.

The service was excellent. They did a wonderful job. All of the sub-contractors were highly professional and skilled. They exceed our expectation. They were the right guys for the job. I was very happy with their service.

The work was very professional. All workers were very skilled and pleasant to work with. Mr. Donn Myers was extremely organized, provided much of the work himself, and all work was finished in a timely manner. If I need any work in the future, I would definitely use this company. Everyone did their best to provide excellent service.

It was a long, extensive process but Donn Myers of American General Construction produced superior results in every aspect of this renovation. Donn is a very hands-on general contractor. He did much of the work himself at considerable savings to me, and when he did use sub-contractors, he hired the best and was always present when the subs were on the job site. Donn is totally committed to any project he takes on. He always took my phone calls, was always available to meet with me, and was expertly able to meet my many requests.

I was so discouraged trying to find a good contractor who would call me back and was interested in working on an old house built in 1925 when I first started this project. Finally, I went to Angie’s List. American General came up with good ratings. I called Donn Myers, the Contractor. He answered the phone and made an appointment to see the job the very next day. Donn sat with me on the old front porch, took the time to discuss what I wanted. He looked underneath the porch, checked out the roof, inspected the flooring, and said, “Yes, I can do this.” Thus began for me, a BIG project. Throughout the whole process, Donn was great to work with. For me, he was perfect. I wanted to learn and do as much as I could, and he was great at explaining the process to me. His 30 plus years of experience, calm demeanor, ability to problem solve some pretty tricky issues, and ultimately get the job done and done right brought the project to fruition. I now have a beautiful new front porch to enjoy. Regularly neighbors stop to say how nice it looks. I absolutely would hire Donn again. He was a pleasure to work with, great with my dogs, respectful of me and my home. He accommodated me with adjustments, changes to the plans, and extra work that needed to be done. He is honest and a hard worker himself! Now, I get to landscape. I am very, very happy with the outcome of this project! (Before and after pictures attached.)

Met our expectations with a few normal bumps in the road

The job went very well. Don and team added a new wall and closet to an existing in-law living room and a partial wall to convert a dining room to an office. There were a few very minor mis-communications that Don quickly resolved and the project went a little over time, but overall I could not be happier. I was not on a critical timeline and I feel like Don would have done whatever was necessary to accommodate me if I pushed for it. I would use Don again and have recommended him to others in my neighborhood that have inquired.

American general performed work on my home as part of a renovation that included both interior and exterior work. my home was built in 1950 and has some unique constraints as the home had existing renovations, original construction and different materials. American general had no issues working through the constraints and giving me a beautiful, seamless renovation that passed every inspection along the way and resulted in a beautiful finished product! i'm already planning my next job with them.

Estelia is an extremely competent and knowledgible real estate agent in the Tampa Bay Florida area. She presents in a very straight forward manner and does not throw around empty promises or cliches, often used in the real estate industry, to acquire listings. She presented our property in an extremely appealing manner. Estelia is an excellent communicator who kept us informed while quietly going about the work of selling the condo. The condo went under agreement in a week, after hitting the MLS. The sale price was higher than what we were hoping for and the buyer was solid. I have been involved with many real estate transactions in my lifetime. Without question, this has been the easiest that I've experienced. I would recommend Estelia to anyone buying or selling a property in a heartbeat. She's the best that I've worked with.

Don was very easy to work with and was accommodating when we added on to the project. He was able to bring workers out during a busy holiday time to keep the job moving. I believe he is honest and does good work. I would hire him again.

Donn is great to work with, honest and professional. The project took longer than we hoped for, but there were many special orders, change orders, and sub-contractor delays. Extremely pleased with all aspects of the project except for the Schuler kitchen cabinets, which we had ordered through Lowes.

Don not only preformed the work requested well he accommodated my work schedule which made it posisible.

Needed repair of a hallway ceiling, where an AC register had been and there was water damage from a leaking AC pipe in crawl space above this ceiling. They filled in the opening where the register had been and cut out the damaged area and filled that in; then covered it with plaster, which they went over many times to be sure it had enough and that it was smooth. They returned in a few days to paint the ceiling. The ceiling had a bit of texture; so they added sand to the paint to match the texture; put 2 coats of paint on and it came out beautiful. The workmanship was wonderful; Donn oversaw the entire project and did the painting himself. I was very much impressed with his knowledge and the care he put into the workmanship that was done. I will definitely hire him for other projects I have, which we have already discussed. The only area I was somewhat not happy with, was meeting appointment times; in both cases he was late, not by much but late nonetheless; the 2nd time he did call to say he was running behind. I am very busy as I run my own business and being prompt is important to me. He also left work material behind that I now have to store until I see him again. But those small things will not deter me from using his services again for sure.

There were many components to this remodel and Donn Meyer
handled the job with professionalism at all stages. His proposal was well
drafted and comprehensive. We did make changes as the job progressed and he priced the
changes fairly. His job site was kept tidy. He came up with creative
solutions. The job was completed on time and on budget. He was very approachable
and pleasant to work with. We would recommend him and use him again.

The process could not have proved better.
Two days after calling the company, a representative came to look at the job. Two days in this market is very quick.
The very next day, the representative called with the estimate, even though he said it would take two days. (Under promise, over deliver). The estimate in writing arrived the next day. Very fast! Very considerate!
Their price was one-third of the price of the lowest competitive estimate we secured. The company claimed they would do the work in one day. All the other companies claimed it would take two days.
We scheduled the job for a certain day in the afternoon. They called and told us they were on the way. The arrived at exactly the time they said they would.
They finished the job in two hours, far faster than they said it would take - and incredibly faster than the companies who gave competitive bids
The job looks great. The repairs made the stone column look like it did prior to a truck hitting it.

Do believe this company with anything they say. Their price was low; their work was high. They finished faster than they promised. They cleaned up the work area completely.

I would recommend them for any kind of work. This was a stone masonry job. Their carpentry, building and general contracting, I suspect, will also be excellent. We are planning to use them for another larger job in the near future.
