I employed Ed Collins about six months ago for the above services. By this month, the lawn looked as bad as it had when I changed to him from my former service. I had had brown patch for the first time last year with the previous service and got it again this year, which I understand is to be expected. Ed did not treat for brown patch until I called to complain about the condition of the lawn. Additionally, the lawn was full of crabgrass, spurge, and numerous other grasses and weeds .I was under the impression that it wasn't possible to treat weeds during the hot months but now I know that certain chemicals can in fact be used.
I called Ed last week to ask him to come out and discuss the lawn with me. He agreed to call me the night before he was to come so that I could be sure to be home. In fact, I returned home Friday to find a sign on the lawn indicating that he had treated the lawn that morning. I called him at the beginning of the next week at which time he said that he'd forgotten to call. We arranged to meet on Friday. He said he'd call in the morning to let me know when he'd be here. I waited at home all day Friday--no call.
When I called again this week, Ed said that he'd forgotten to call but was in the area and could come over in a half hour or so. When he arrived, I pointed out the brown patch, etc. (He also never mentioned cinch bugs, which I now know are also present along with second kind of fungus.) He also admitted that he had never followed up within 15 days with a second brown patch treatment.
One of the main reasons I'm writing is that Ed never apologized for not calling either of the times he'd promised to. Not only that, but when I told him that his work was unacceptable, he stormed back to his truck saying that I could have told him that over the phone and not brought him all the way to my house. As you might expect, I reminded him that I had lost a day waiting for him the last Friday.
