New roof went fine. Paid $16,000 for a beautiful tiled roof. Little did we know, or were advised, that we would not pass the roof requirements of our insurance company. Company claims that would have cost 15% more (okay), so they don't advise you of this!!! Now I have to pay $1000 more for homeowners insurance if I want hurricane protection. To remedy the problem now it would cost $15,000!! Their quote! BEWARE!

Contract was signed on June 7, 2016, with an estimated completion time of 45 days. It was finished on October 17, 2016 -- 135 days later, or almost three times the estimated completion time. What upsets us even more than the timeline was Gustafson's lack of responsiveness to the threat of Hurricane Matthew. As the storm approached, we called and emailed Gustafson's for a week asking them to secure the new, loose tiles that were stacked on our roof. They had absolutely no care or concern for the fact that a hurricane would not only break the brand new tiles, it would also make them into projectiles that would damage neighboring homes. After repeated calls to Gustafson's, our homeowners association, and the local building inspector, they came out and secured 10% of the loose tiles on our roof. They REFUSED to do more. Faced with the dire situation, we spent our own time (4 hours x 2 people) and money (over $300) to cable tie all remaining stacks of tile. Gustafson's came highly recommended to us. It seems that they have now taken on more business than they can handle, and customer service is nonexistent.

Gustafson began the demolition on January 12.  Full crew started early each morning and within 2-3 days, the existing roofing materials (concrete barrel tile) was removed.  In discussing whether "hot mop" method or adhesive underlayment should be used, i went with the adhesive as many roofers felt that this method was longer lasting.  There was extensive damage to plywood roofing and some truss damage as well.  This was all repaired professionally and the company kept me apprised every step of the way by having me inspect the repair process as it progressed.  Inspections were made by PB County building dept. and everything went smoothly.  The inspector commented that Gustafson has been around a long time and does a nice, tight job.  
Every detail was attended to including, the flashing inspection and replacement, where necessary, skylight installation, utility stack replacements, stucco repair and painting, etc.  The roof is now beautiful and after several very heavy Florida rains, I can report that I have seen no evidence of any problem.
Throughout this 3-4 week job, all Gustafson employees were knowledgeable, open, custeous and informative.  The roof replacement cost me about 40% over the estimate due to the amount of wood which was replaced.  However, I made the right decision in choosing Gustafson, will refer them to others and would certainly use them again.

In the fall of 2012 I contacted Gustafson Roofing to repair a leak that had resulted in a wet ceiling in a storage room near the entrance to my home. They made the repair and I repainted the ceiling with mold retardant paint. Since this was in a storage
room it is not usually seen on a day to day basis.
I had a couple of broken roof tiles from a falling coconut a few months later and called Gustafson to replace the tiles. After many promises to return my call and come out, but no show, I finally called another company to replace the tiles. Different part of the house, no leak, simple job and quickly done.
A few weeks ago my wife was in the storage area and noticed that the ceiling was very wet, and mold was growing on the wall next to it, This is the exact area that was wet when I called Gustafson originally. I called a handyman to cut open the ceiling so I could see what was happening there. The entire area was wet, the insulation was soaked, and mold was growing above the ceiling. The area of the underside of the roof where they had repaired it showed fresh water coming in. I told the handyman to leave it open until the leak was repaired.
I called Gustafson and was promised a call back but it never came, so after a week I called another roofing company for an
estimate. They looked at the inside, showed me the fresh water marks where Gustafson had replaced a piece of plywood, and then ran a hose over the roof the outside. Water was coming in profusely at the joint between the new piece of plywood and the older plywood adjacent to it. I called Gustafson and spoke to Aaron, a manager. He told me that the work was only warranted for a year and it was over that (about 20 months). I responded that the water has obviously been coming in for a long time because of the amount of damage above the ceiling. Aaron basically told me that Gustafson would do nothing about it and ‘apologized’ for the 'inconvenience'.
My complaint is two fold:
1. Gustafson is nonresponsive to customers, promising a return call or a truck and not
calling back or coming out, and
2. When you pay a professional roofing company to repair a roof, you should be able to expect that specific fix to last longer than a year. The fact that the water is now coming in at the seam where they replaced a section of wood, and has been for some time it could easily have been well under the year warranty period when it started leaking again) tells me that something is amiss with the original repair job. They offered no satisfaction.
I got an estimate and scheduled the work with the other company. I will let you know how it went
with the other company (which I found through Angie’s List.)

They were timely and they did a good job.

They were excellent. The pricing was pretty high, which I felt was lot of money.

Owner's son was professional and personal as was the person who repaired the roof. Unfortunately, the leak was not repaired the first time out. The company responded quickly and came out a second time. I am convinced this is due in part to my wife letting the company know she would not be put off.
