Disappointing Experience with Rude Owner I recently had a regrettable encounter while shopping for a retractable awning at Buzzman Retractable Awning . Unfortunately, my experience was marred by the unprofessional behavior of Barry Gorin , the owner. Despite my attempts to ask questions and seek guidance regarding the product , his responses were bordered on outright rudeness. It was evident that he was more interested in making a quick sale rather than providing genuine assistance to a customer. The entire experience left a sour taste in my mouth, and I cannot in good conscience recommend Buzzman Retractable Awnings to anyone seeking a retractable awning . In conclusion, I urge Barry Gorin to reevaluate its customer service standards and product offerings to ensure that future customers are treated with the respect and professionalism they deserve. Rudeness at its best!

I had the pleasure of working with Buzzman about 6 months ago. I could not have had a better experience. I was sold as soon as I saw the quality of the frame as compared to the competition. They arrived at all appointments on time and found them to be very professional. Most importantly the awning looks great and functions perfectly. I would definitely buy again and refer them to anybody. Thanks for a great awning.

The ordering process was painless and enjoyable. However, the installation was a nightmare. The installers left 49 drill holes on the side of my home. When I called to ask about having them filled, my contact accused me of putting the holes in the wall myself. After more than a week, the installers came out to fill the holes. When they were finished, they told me that I could get on a ladder tomorrow and use a coarse brush to even off the spackle and then paint the 49 holes myself. When I texted the company contact again about how unhappy I am with the fill job, his emails were unprofessional and totally unresponsive. I love the awning but would not recommend this company from an installation and service perspective. The contact actually told me that I should have used another company that was not the quality of this company - I am confused. How is telling a homeowner to get on a ladder to finish the repair job - quality service? I went with Buzzman because I expected and PAID a premium for quality -- awning quality was delivered - SERVICE TO THE CUSTOMER was very disappointing.

Called all 3 local retractable awning companies that advertised in one of the home magazines we get in the mail, and set up free estimates from all 3 companies, Buzzman Awning Distributors being the last estimate we got.  It took a day or two before we even got a call back from the first two companies, but Barry called back that same day (within a couple hours if I recall) to schedule a day & time to come measure the areas where we wanted our awnings and provide a free estimate.  So, I appreciated his prompt response!

The other 2 companies basically said the same thing as each other..."our awning is the best around, the strongest, been doing it for 20 something years, Florida hurricane code approved, and the least expensive, blah blah blah" and showed us the fabrics and gave us similar prices for the awnings (although one guy doesn't even manufacture his awnings here...just basically resells them from another company that makes the frames, etc).

Then, when Barry from Buzzman Awning Distributors came, we immediately noticed a huge difference.  He spent a lot of time with us that day, was so patient and understanding while we asked lots of questions after having the other 2 companies come see us, and to us, it wasn't all just about price anyway.  It was like we went to school on awnings for a day, haha.  Turns out that the Buzzman awnings are truly the only ones strong enough to stay out all the time like we wanted; our house sits on the water where we get very strong winds and of course, those crazy South Florida thunderstorms, especially in the summer.  But we don't want to have to worry about rolling up the awnings before we leave for the day, and we learned that the other awnings need a very large tilt downward from our roof for their awnings to allow the rain water to spill out, while the Buzzman awnings don't need as much tilt downward (and Buzzman invented the first awning rain gutters as well as the first awning wind sensor)...and having a gorgeous view of the water from our rear patio, we certainly don't want to ruin our fabulous views!  With the Buzzman awnings, we can have it all...shade from the sun and cover under strong rains while still enjoying our beautiful views from our patio!

We also noticed that the Buzzman awnings are much heavier and stronger than the others...the entire frame and arms are solid and not hollow tubes like the other companies awning frames.  Plus, since they're all super strong aluminum alloy, not thin steel, they will never rust like the other awning frames will.

Barry's pricing for the 2 awnings was just about the same as one other estimate and higher than the other, and we had actually already decided not to go with the lowest estimate since the quality difference was definitely evident.  Then, we realized that the other estimate didn't include a free motor, wind sensor and remote control with each awning like Barry had included for his retractable awnings (1 remote that controls both awnings).  And again, the greater quality and strength of the Buzzman awning was apparent.  Well, our choice was clear...Buzzman Awning Distributors all the way!  Even if Barry came in $500 dollars more, we still would've chosen Buzzman because their awnings are simply better -- stronger, more capable, lifetime frame warranty, 10 year Sunbrella fabric warranty, ability to add their exclusive Rain Brain which can roll our awnings in or out when it senses rain, and we love the fact that they're custom made right here in Palm Beach County, FL since 1986...oh yeah, and Barry's brother is the original "Buzzman" and despite what one of the other guys told us, we verified that his brother was the one in business since 1986, and not the other guy.  Hmmm, makes you wonder about what the other guys will do or say just to get the sale?

Installation was done within 2 weeks as Barry had mentioned and had no complaints...the Buzzman installation crew finished in about 4 hours and everything went smoothly.  We love our Buzzman awnings!  We've been sitting out under them just about every day now, enjoying our views of the water but staying cool and dry...definitely well worth the investment in anyone's home!  We highly recommend Buzzman Awning Distributors!

First off, we had Barry, the owner come for our free estimate.  He was right on time and very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, not only about his Buzzman retractable awnings but also about his local competitors and their products as well.  We knew nothing about retractable awnings but we feel as if we're quite educated on them now. The other guys we had called talked about how their awnings are Florida Hurricane Code approved, but we learned that they had talked to us about Florida Hurricane Code from more than 15 years ago!  We were very impressed by Barry's presentation.  He showed us their newly updated Florida Hurricane Code approvals and Wind Load Certificates, which the other guys didn't offer to show us.  He also showed us their liability insurance and worker's comp on their workers as well as lots of pictures of past awnings done.  He even brought a small piece of their all aluminum alloy Buzzman awning frame...wow, this thing is so heavy and obviously of superior quality, structure, and strength...and it was just a small piece!  We also appreciated how Barry offered to leave us the Sunbrella fabric book so we can look though it to choose our awning fabric color.  Top notch!

I'm typically skeptical and leery of many of the small businesses here in South Florida, but Barry made us feel very comfortable as he was honest and truly wanted us to be happy with our new Buzzman retractable awning for our pool patio for many years to come.  The other guys just made us feel like they weren't telling us everything, saying that most awnings are the pretty much the same but theirs is just less expensive.  Well, even though Barry came in on price right in line with the other guys + maybe $200 more, we felt the Buzzman awning was well worth the extra money!  And, he also offers 40% off retail pricing like the other companies, but also includes a free awning motor, wind sensor, and remote control.

Two other major things we noticed:  1)  One of of our neighbors has an awning done by one of the other local companies just 2 years ago and we noticed that their awning frame is rusting and the frame is bowed a bit.  We learned that it's because the other companies use galvanized steel frames with aluminum parts which cause the frames to rust; our Buzzman awning is all aluminum alloy and will never corrode and rust so we're happy about that!  2)  Because that same neighbor left their awning out fully extended while they went out shopping one day, a really bad storm hit with torrential rain and it filled with lots of water and actually bent the frame a little; it didn't fall off their wall, but now it's bowed and the fabric sags a bit.  Because we want to leave our awning out all the time, we were afraid we may have to constantly 'monitor' it but we know now with the Buzzman retractable awning, we don't have to...it's much stronger and we can leave it out all the time with no worries! :)

It seems to us that the Buzzman Retractable Awning is the highest quality, strongest, and most beautiful one out there, and we liked how all their aluminum alloy frames are made by them right here Florida; we don't like that other knockoff stuff made in Asia.  Okay for some, but not for us.

Installation of our awning went flawlessly (took about 3 hours to install) and was done within the 2 weeks as promised.  Their technician was also very professional and courteous, explaining exactly how to use the awning remote control and setting the customized button, even though we've been leaving our Buzzman retractable awing out all the time!
