I found Star Lock and Door Locksmiths in the phone book. They arrived at the appointed time and the technician (no name given ) was courteous. He promptly re-keyed the deadbolt. I was observing because I haven?t taken locks out for re-keying in awhile and thought I would get a little refresher course. When I observed him, I asked why he was turning the screw the wrong way . His response was that he tried both ways and it was not working. He later tried to drill the lock. When that was unsuccessful, he offered to get me a new dorr knob at ?half price? $40. I asked to see it. He showed me a $16 dollar door lock. I told him that was the cheapest lock made and declined. Of course after that the handle just pulled off. I went to Home Depot and bought a new ?Smart Key? lock and installed it myself. He only charges me for the Deadbolt ? that was fair. But I wouldn?t be inclined to use that compane again.
