All it says on the statement is "general condo inspection". Once I moved it, I noticed a window with a hole in it, with scotch tape over it! I can't believe they didn't even look at the windows. He glanced at the AC unit and added freon, but I don't even know how old it is. When I called them and my realtor's boss (my realtor referred him to me), about the broken window, they basically said there was no way to prove that it wasn't broken after the inspection. I am very disappointed and would not recommend them.

Home inspector Tom Burgess arrived at the house on time. He discussed with us the home inspection process, answered any questions we had, and got right to inspecting. Tom was incredibly detailed in his inspection. When he completed his inspection, he went over some of the more major issues he found, and advised us that all the issued he found would be listed in his report to us. We had his comprehensive report the very next day. I have owned other homes before, out of state, and found Tom to be by far the best home inspector I have ever used. I highly recommend 5th Avenue Building Inspection and Tom Burgess.

I am a contractor from up north. I went through the house several times and yet 5th Ave found issues that someone of 39 years expirience did not see.

These people are simply amazing! Cathy and Joey are extremely personable and professional. I needed an inspection done in two days and Cathy made it happen. Joey and his associate arrived on time and ready to go. They spent nearly 4 hours at the house and found MAJOR problems that were not seen or known about. He and is associate did a complete inspection of the house - inside and out- and spent nearly 40 minutes at the end explaining what they found. They were patient and answered every question.Joey was exceptionally honest and actually turned down doing additional tests which he felt were not warranted. At the end of the inspection they provided me with a folder containing information about the inspection and he had the complete report emailed to me that night- including pictures and estimated costs of repairs.
Their inspection saved me from making a purchase of a home which had MAJOR hidden problems that would have resulted in tens of thousands in repairs. I will use them again for every home purchase going forward. would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone that is looking for an HONEST, PROFESSIONAL, and THOROUGH home inspector.
Thank you again Cathy and Joey!

NIGHTMARE!!!! The inspection report revealed things anyone with eyes could (window off track, holes, garage door not working... the obvious). The inspector, Gabe, was a very nice person. He seems very young, and obviously very inexperienced. He was told by my realtor that there was not an existing AC unit. I took the realtor's and home inspector's word for it- how would I know what's inside of the outside condenser?)... that's why there is a home inspection. The next day we had a plumbing inspection. The plumber walked by and said "who told you there's no AC condenser?" He was shocked when I said it was the home inspector and called him an idiot. He said I should be concerned that the home inspector walked passed it, in front of it, behind it and didn't see it. I actually had a conversation with the guy inspecting the home right next to the unit outside as he showed me an obvious crack on the outside structure. Following the plumber, every other home service provider said the condenser is obviously there. When we bought the home we turned on the AC and it was fine.. seemingly. The inside unit, the air handler, which is located between my two disabled children's bedrooms WENT ON FIRE!! It went on fire because the fuse was removed and someone straight wired it. The inside air handler in located in a closet THAT THE HOME INSPECTOR WAS IN AND TOOK PICTURES OF and failed to notice the big hole in the air handler where the fuse should be. I sent an email to the home inspector and I immediately received a nasty email from the company's owner, Joey Caballero, BLAMING ME and the realtor and expressed no concern for his inept employee's mistake which could have been deadly. I am to blame because the realtor and home inspector told me not to have the AC unit inspected because there was none? He missed two giant clues under his nose (the outside and inside unit). His own wife called my realtor upset about her husband's behavior and the realtor agreed that the owner's behavior was rude and inexcusable. Fortunately, the fire damaged only the air handler, closet and surrounding walls. All of the workers agreed that this was a terrible and stupid mistake this company made. The AC company, very reputable and highly rated on this site, took pictures and told us he will happily testify in court against 5th Avenue because he, too, agreed that this fire would not have happened if the home inspector did his job... or at least had used his brain or eyes. They were shocked by how inept and unprofessional 5th Ave is. My children are safe- and no one was injured in the fire, thanks to good timing and NO THANKS to 5th Avenue.I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. Run the other way- there are too many competent companies. This one, is not.

Joey and Mariano were there on time and performed a complete thorough inspections. They had all of the high tech equipment needed to measure temperature, current and some things I didn't even know needed to be inspected. They reviewed the results verbally with us right after the inspection and then emailed the written reports the same day.

They were professional and provided easy to understand explanations.

Their service was successful and easy, Jude spent 5 hours inspecting my house. My realtor and I stayed in the house while he isnpected, which I recommend to anyone getting a home inspection. He pointed things out as he went of what was good and bad in the hosue. He was friendly but always working while he talked to us.

Overall it was a very good experience.

Showed up on time and job performed. After done, current homeowner notified us that the inspector left the jets on of the jacuzzi tubs, and it ran dry and burned out the motor. Owner, Joey, contacted. He was not apologetic and denied that this was his man's fault. Explained thatif he did not leave the motor on to cause the problem, then he atleast missed the problem as he did not note it on the inspection report. Said he would come and look at it. Never confirmed date and time coming. Showed up unexpected and then was very nasty because we did not leave his name for entry at the security gate. Called once and spole to my husband and made a comment that he was glad he was speaking to the man of the house instead of me (a woman). While here, he was unfriendly and made it known the he was not happy about having to fix the motor. He took the motor with him to fix. We waitied and waited to hear back. Finally we called him and were told the the part was on back order. I was contacted in mid-July to finally set up a date for installation. Said I would get back to them. Called them multiple times the week of 7/25 to arrange a time for installation. No call back after several attempts. Installation finally done yesterda, 8/25/10. So we had 4 months where we could not use our tub at all. No apology or monetary aid for shoddy work.

I e-mailed the office, Cathy responded within an hour, made the appt., told me what she would do re: follow-up, and did exactly what she promised. Mr. Caballero arrived on time, did a very thorough inspection, and provide me a full written report by the end of the day. He also made himself available to answer my questions, and did so very thoroughly. I highly recommend his services.
