At Don DeFlavis Construction our specialty (favorite) project is Kitchen and Bathroom remodeling. For those needing extra room in their home, we offer complete Interior Renovation and Room Additions. With 3D renderings we provide in-house Design services to help you visualize the before and after of your project. The owner Don DeFlavis has a vast amount of construction knowledge and experience in custom home building, and residential remodeling. Don has been a state certified General Contractor since 1984, and has been a full time resident of the Naples/Bonita Springs area since 1979. Don grew up in the Sarasota/Bradenton area and is very familiar with the specific building codes and requirements in South West Florida. Our mission statement is to provide superior quality construction and excellent customer service at fair prices. The kitchen remodel went well and I am very pleased with my new kitchen and flooring. The job manager Dave was really nice to work with and available to ask questions and gave good input on the remodel. The GC, Don and office staff were pleasant to work with as well and were helpful thru the process. This was the first time I’d ever hired someone to do a job of this scope so I was a novice going in and very nervous about the whole thing but now I’m really happy with my home and beautiful kitchen and floors. Thank you Don DeFlavis Construction.

HIGHLY recommend this company! Sent inquiry via Angie’s List; they got back to me same day even though it was a Saturday. Got an estimate and was on their schedule within days. Their price was a little higher than the other two estimates I got. HOWEVER, given that every single review I could find was 5 stars, I went with them and I’m so glad I did. I’m particular and usually have to accept some imperfections when I have something done – but the installer (Dave) did a meticulous job with my tile. Perfect and worth every penny.

I used Don DeFlavis construction for a total remodel of my condo a few years back and was completely satisfied with their work. On short notice, I requested that they come out again to get the condo ready for sale. They were very prompt and the workmanship was excellent. I look forward to using them as we update the house we just bought.

Beyond belief! Not only did I walk into a fabulous remodeled home; it was a show stopper! The 1992 house was into the 21 century! After the final punch list, my home improvement investment brought tears to my eyes! One of the things I treasure about Don's company is the personal service they give. Always a personal call back, you never need to speak to an answering machine, or person! And, when doing a huge project like this, this was paramount! Unexpectedly, Don only had a 5 month turn around! Over the holidays! And, it was all done from a distance! Certainly not the easiest way, but they did it! Don and his amazing crew did it all via email, cell phone! And, most important to me, was having all of this done on a retirement, tight budget; Don Deflavis Construction stayed within my budget, and came through for me 100%. I couldn't be happier!

Don's design team immediately came up with easy to visualize computer drawings . We asked for an early Jan. start date, to accommodate our guest and holiday schedule. The demo crew showed up on time, and from that point on, all the work was completed according to the foreman's schedule. The plumber, electrician, flooring, cabinetry drywall and tile installers were co-ordinated so that there were no big delays in progress of the work. We managed to live in the house during construction, since the workmen cleaned up every night and tried to keep dust to a minimum. The inconvenience of only a bar sink and hotplate as a temporary kitchen was minor considering the result. The new kitchen was complete in approximately six weeks. We would definitely use Don DeFlavis again for any other remodeling jobs.

We are very satisfied with the renovation Don DeFlavis and his team recently completed for us. We spoke with six different contractors before we decided to hire Don. We chose Don not only because of his years of experience and positive reviews, but because we felt comfortable with the way he communicated with us. We worked together to develop a contract that was acceptable to both parties and made sure it was very specific in outlining our expectations. We were going to be 1,000 miles away during the renovation and needed a contractor we could trust who would continue to communicate with us throughout the project. We received weekly email updates with photos, and occasional phone calls or text messages if there were questions. We also did some Facetime walkthroughs as the project progressed. Dave ***** did a lot of the finish work and he is exceptional. Good craftsman, creative problem solver, easy to work with; and just a really nice guy. He takes pride in his work and does things the right way (which isn't always the easiest way). The short punch list I created at the end of the job was dealt with immediately. Don was honest and fair in all our dealings. The project went smoothly and we are pleased with the final result. We would hire Don DeFlavis and Co. again and we highly recommend them without reservation. If Angie's List had A++ as an evaluation option, we would have chosen that!

The project was completed earlier than expected despite all the additions, and we could not be happier with the result. The work was high quality and Don and his team really listened to me to make my ideas come to life. They are also creative and made many great suggestions we encorporated into the design. We would highly recommend Don for any renovation project.

Having worked with Don before, we were not disappointed in his quick response to our "crisis". Within a week and a half, Don's sub-contractors accommodated our project needs and restored our kitchen to better than new condition. We can't speak highly enough about the quality of work and peace of mind we have experienced working with this company. We highly recommend Don Deflavis for any small renovations or large scale imprivement projects.

Plastic sheeting was set up in the master bedroom to keep some of the construction dust down. Demolition was completed within the week, billed on 02-16-15. There was only one worker on our project and he seemed to come around 8am and leave by 1pm; and didn't come every day. Upon watching him, it became apparent he was not skilled in construction work. Walls were not level, and he attempted to use the incorrect metal sheeting prior to pouring cement. Fortunately he sent an email photo prior to pouring cement and Don corrected his error; but this also pointed out that Don knew he wasn't skilled. The subcontractors for tile and electric did fine. Except the tile guys started putting up broken rocks in our shower. I stopped them and said they had to use intact stones only. They did point out their tiles were straight, but the wall was not; which required additional plaster to adjust. DeFlavis put in the cabinets we selected (a maple raised panel style) however he put in drawers with a flat slab front. I objected to the style change and he agreed to correct it for an additional charge to us of $315.00. Three mirrors were to be framed in the same cabinet wood; which we had ordered. The project manager apparently miscut the wood and tried to replace it with unfinished maple wood; but it was obviously different. We called them on it, so it was again replaced. The mirror frames were only stained on the front, so you can still see raw wood in the mirror reflection. We opted for soft close cabinets and drawers, one has only one screw. We had one worker , two different site managers and Don DeFlavis in our project. All left before the project was done except for Don. In addition to all the other failings, he charged retail prices and added an additional 24% profit to our project. He also took over 17 weeks to finish what he did. A certificate of completion was issued on June 23, 2015. I would never use or recommend this company.

"Wow I am super surprised at this review. I thought your bath came out stunning. I did have a key person leave the company at the time we started the project. This situation I had no control of. That made your project not a smooth as our standard. However any workman ship you questioned we addressed. We also made an allowance for drawer fronts that you approved but did not like after they were installed in interest of customer satisfaction. I sent a follow up email after the job was complete and never recived any feedback or complaints. Well with all that said if there is anything that still needs attention with your project let me know, and accept my apologies for issues during construction."

I found this contractor on Angie's List. He had a good rating so I asked for an estimate. The price was very competitive and I was impressed with Don's ideas and professionalism. I like the quality of his cabinet line better than my other bidders also. He was able to start the job early. The finish was delayed slightly due to an ill worker. This caused us a small inconvenience but was unavoidable. We were in the condo during the final finish work but Shawn, the construction manager kept everything cleaned up and it was not a big problem. The final product is excellent! We would definitely use Don DeFlavis construction again.

Some delays due to the county and there permit review process.
Easy to work with, his workers were very courteous, conscientious about their work. I did not care for the countertop vendor, but all the other vendors were helpful and had superior products.
The cost was a little high for such a small bathroom, but I was completely satisfied with final product.

- OVERALL. A general contractor is responsible to make sure the contract is written to include all local and state applicable laws. The proposal later referred to by Mr DeFlavis as the contract was in fact not a legal contract perFlorida law. We had to hire an attorney to be able to complete the work in the condo that Mr DeFlavis refused to correct. The shower doors that were supposedly upgraded at no additional cost leaked water all over the floors. They were not replaced with doors originally agreed to and did not meet code. The shower opening was too small for a person to enter. Three thousand dollars was withheld from our final payment since the work was not completed to our satisfaction. Mr DeFlavis threatened to put a lien on our condo refusing to correct the problem with shower doors. This is when we were forced to hire an attorney. The situation is now closed. DeFlavis cannot place a legal lien on our condo and we hired another contractor to install the new shower doors as we originally wanted. And another contractor to complete the remaining smaller issues such as shaving doors not to scratch the tile. We also had added attorney fees to pay.
- PRICE. Did not honor the discount coupon posted on Angie's list. We accepted the prices quoted based on our impression of Don DeFlavis presentation at the time of the proposal. This transaction was a good lesson for us of consumer beware. As soon as the situation changed and we were not satisfied with some of the work Don simply did not care. We should have paid more attention to the people on Angie's list that did not use DeFlavis and just not the overall rating.
- QUALITY. The sub contractors used for the tile work ,electrical work, supplying counter tops, sink fixtures and cabinets did provide good satisfactory work and products.
- RESPONSIVENESS. Argumentative when the work was questioned. For example; we could not add any more items to the cleanup list. Unfortunately living in Chicago and only having the opportunity to review the work on occasion for what was finished this was not possible.

Well, he was able to fit us in quickly and give us a quote. I went to pick out the molding, took pix on my phone and sent them to him to show him what I wanted to use. His worker was very efficient and did a great job. Very professional and courteous. I would refer his company to my friends.
