I would NOT EVER stay again this Comfort Inn.
I returned to my room at approximately 8:00 p.m. to find the door open! Nothing was missing, so I expect a careless housekeeper simply had not shut my door. I was told that housekeeping had finished for the day around 1:00 p.m.,
meaning that my room was probably accessible 7 or more hours!
Needless to say, I checked out the following morning. Unbelievably, the owner, general manager VINNIE PATEL refused to make ANY adjustment on the bill, charging me full price for every night of my stay. Primarily for this reason, I will also not
stay at any of the other hotels owned or operated by Vinnie Patel.
Even if I had not experienced this serious breach of security, I would not have returned to the Bonita Beach Road Comfort Inn. My room SMELLED. Of course, I alerted housekeeping. I do not know whether or not they tried to address the problem, but the odor remained. The putrid quality of the smell led me to believe it came from the air conditioning/heating unit or possibly the plumbing system. Suspecting there was little the maids could do, I handled the problem by keeping the sliding glass balcony door open night and day. Since I was gone during the hottest part of the day, I was not too uncomfortable. This seemed easier than switching rooms, an option that had not been offered to me anyway. I did not switch hotels because I had to spend as little money as possible, and the Comfort Inn cost less than the other hotels in the immediate area.
Furthermore:
One of the bed quilts had ants on it. Although housekeeping took care of this issue promptly, it could have greatly inconvenienced a guest discovering it at bedtime.
The plastic balcony furniture was very dirty. Upon notification, housekeeping cleaned it so that it was less dirty. Rather than insist on a more thorough job, I laid bath towels over the table and chairs when I used them.
One maid left a used rag on the night table.
I had chosen the Comfort Inn on Bonita Beach Road because of its location and reasonable rate. In the future, however, I will pay more to avoid the sub-standard service as well as the owner/general manager?s unwillingness to negotiate even a minor rate adjustment as recompense for leaving my door open and my personal items at risk.
