I am extremely happy about the process and service. We had a problem for water leak on the rook due to the water heater panel system. Steven (the owner) answered my phone and offered to come on the same day. He found the source of the problem and provided a very reasonable quote. On the service day, he came to perform the job efficiently. This left us a piece of mind. We will consider hiring him again when we install new solar panels in the future for the pool because his professionalism this time.

We were looking to install solar panels that would supply power for 80-90% of our electrical usage. I had several companies come in to provide me with estimates. The first offered a system which would have been far too small for our demonstrated needs - presumably so the salesman could offer a lower price than anyone else and upsell us afterwards. The second wouldn't give us straight answers to our questions, and told us his company didn't give customer references "due to privacy laws". Our third estimate was from Steven Baillee, owner of Solar Concepts. Steven owns and runs the business, and gets up there on the roof himself. He does not use or have to pay salaries for sales and support staff, enabling him to quote a high quality system that was several thousand dollars lower than his competitors. He was knowledgeable, answered all of our questions, and provided me with a long list of references. The two customers I called at random from that list spoke very highly of him. One had had their system for many years and said that Steven had always quickly responded to any concerns or problems he had (although he emphasized there had not been many). There were a few minor glitches during installation, but Steven attended to them promptly. All in all, it was an easy experience. We have only had solar for a few weeks now, and FPL projects our next electric bill to be $18 instead of our expected $250! We would definitely recommend installing solar panels, and definitely recommend hiring Steven to do it.

Steve is great. He comes when he says he will and is willing to coordinate with other professionals. He had to disconnect and reconnect our solar roof panel when we had our home reroofed. He did the job when requested and worked around the roofers' schedule. Previously he replaced our solar water heater for us and did the same quality of work. We highly recommend him.

Steve and Ivan were punctual and did an excellent job removing and replacing my hot water tank. They replaced my old tank with a more efficient Rheem tank. They cleaned my area and explained the functions of the tank. They also adjusted my timer and replaced a noisy impeller. I was very happy with the job they performed and the fair price. I would not hesitate to recommend them as I had done in the past. I will continue to use and recommend them to anyone who needs excellent solar service.

When I asked a neighbor about his experience with his PV solar panels, he said he was very pleased with the panels’ productivity and the excellent service provided by Steve Baillie’s Solar Concepts. My experience with Steve was outstanding in every way. Throughout, his focus was on meeting our needs and wishes and not maximizing his earnings. His communications with us, his technological expertise and his integrity kept us very satisfied throughout the installation process, ending in early January. Our FPL bills in February and March went from an average of $162 and $159 to $72 and $23. We could not be more happy and satisfied.

Did not install it to code. Heater burned up and front panel melted. As per manufacturer, it was not installed per code and could have burned my house down! Contacted him to make good on it and he hung up on me! PLEASE BE CAREFUL!! This guy cuts corners, your house could be next!
Response from Solar Concepts
"The thermostat, which is internal to the tank, failed after five years. It has nothing to do with the hot water heater installation. The customer was being very rude and disrespectful and threatening to call a lawyer. I do apologize for hanging up since we take great pride in our work. Every once in a while you get a customer that is unreasonable."

Steven Bailie, the president and owner, came out on time and was very professional. He spent about an hour in my house and did everything I asked for- he serviced the system and went up on the roof. I thought the price was very reasonable and I was very satisfied.

Researched them and I used Angie’s List to confirm their information. They were prompt and courteous. When they were here they cleaned up after themselves and they did minimal damage. They went to the roof put the solar panel on the roof and they did a great job with that and there were no issues with that. We’ve gone through a couple of good storms and no issues with that. One time we had a circulation pump issue and they came right out and fixed it at no cost. That was two years after the service so it was out of warranty but he still took care of it because his customer is number one.

Steve the owner answers his business calls and setup an estimate within a few days.  I explained my interest in a future PV system but wanted to start with the pool heater.  He gave me multiple ways I could accomplish this and included this on his estimate.  He also provided me with finance information with a up an coming PACE program in Florida.  I chose to go with the no electrical system pool heating as to solar panels feeding power to a heat pump.  He sent his guy Chris to do the work who was extremely helpful and listened to what my plan was for the pool pump (adding a salt system in the near future) so that I had the room.  Work was completed in one day.  I had Steve come back to my home a week later to look at a PSI increase in the pool pump after installation and he replaced a back flow part to assist with this.  The system works great and excited to have a heated pool.  I have to continue my research on when its best for me to start the PV process but I'll be sure to give solar concepts my business for that.  Thanks again.

After many years of reparing leaks we decided to bite the bullet and replace our roof.   It was the right time to explore installing solar panels.  I researched solar panel companies and contacted Steve of Solar Concepts.  (Solar Concepts turned out to be the company that our roofing company also recommended.)  There was some sticker shock, of course.  Solar panels have come down in price, but they are still expensive.  We calculated our potential energy savings, and considered the 30% Federal tax credit  in our decision-making process.
Our home is approximately 4,000 sq., with 2 separate (high efficiency) a/c units, 2 (yes, 2) clothes dryers, a pool, sprinkler system, etc.  Our electric bill averaged (through FPL's Budget Billing) $260 per month.  Unfortunately, because of the location of our water heater, heating our hot water would have involved extensive plumbing work.  We elected not to install solar hot water panels, but Steve still estimated our bill would be less than $50 per month.  He was wrong.  January's bill (a very rainy month) was $36.40, and in February and March, our bill was $9.05.  According to the FPL Energy Dashboard our usage to date is $5.46; we've got another 10 days before our next bill.  I never thought I would look forward to receiving my monthly electric bill!
Steve, and his associate Chris, were a pleasure to work with.  Professional, knowledgeable, and super respectful of our home, property and time.  Steve also assisted us in obtaining a FPL Net Meter, and connecting us with Solar Edge, an app that allows us to remotely monitor our energy production, our new obsession.
If you are considering solar power, I highly recommend Solar Concepts.

Mr. Baillie and his employee worked on the project in a professional manner from beginning to end. Mr. Baillie was responding to emails and calls in a timely manner. He guided me from the application process, through permit process and final inspection by the city, in a smooth and transparent manner. The installation process itself took about 1 week to complete. I have a barrel tile roof and the work went without any significant breakage of tiles. A few cracked tiles were fixed appropriately.  I did get a lower quote from another company for a few thousand less for a different system involving different company parts and components (possibly lower priced). However I went with Solar concepts as the owner of the company seemed reliable and professional with a fast response time to questions and inquiries. 3 months after the installation, the energy production of the panels is near target as informed by Mr. Baillie during the purchase.  I don't regret going with Solar concepts for the installation of the system, even though the project was a bit more expensive with his company.

I got estimates from about 5 companies and while they were all about in the same range, I chose Steven and his company because of the impression I got when meeting with them.
They did the work as promised, were always on time and schedule, kept me up to date with the progress etc. The instalation came out very good and I am happy with the finished project. They were also open to requests from me in regards to the project.
Overall a very positive experience, highly recommended.

Could not have been better ! Bottom line if you are considering solar , You really need to use this company.
I want to tell everyone out there who is looking for a solar company about Solar Concepts and my personal experience .
I researched this house project for three years ! before I saved my monies and made my decisions, I even researched with Nasa's Solar Division to educate myself on Solar systems. So needless to say when it came to choosing a company I was just as careful.
I am really very grateful I made the right choice..

So many times in this life you are disappointed by the contractors we hire. But I can finally say I found a complete STAR in the bunch.
Not only is Solar concepts good at what they do , they are priced fairly enough to make solar possible .. unlike so many other more overly priced companies out there .
But the real bonus here is their priceless character of professionalism and genuine dependability. They are local to my neighborhood which made me very comfortable, and also I know they have been around a long time. That's also very important also .
I would not normally do this but I am so happy with Solar Concepts and my solar system ( which Ive had up now for about 8 months ).... I am happy to back up this review .......... I invite anyone who wishes to see my system at my home and I will tell them personally I really mean very word of this review.
Just contact the company and they can set up the appmt . I am happy to help . I believe in Solar and if I can spread the word I am happy to . !!

Solar Concepts (Steven Baillie) was contacted in January 2012 to provide a quote for the installation of a solar PV array on the roof of my house. This was the second company I contacted (the first one is no longer in business). Solar Concepts was the higher bidder, but had established a reputation for high-quality work. The installation also included three rails for each panel, rather than the typical two. Having lived through Hurricane Wilma, I preferred the security of having more rail anchors to tie each panel to the roof.
Since FPL offers a generous rebate for the installation of solar PV systems, no further work was done until April. FPL's rebate application window opened and closed in about 120 seconds on May 3, 2012. With tips from Steven on how to provide just enough detail in the application to allow it to be prepared quickly and get approved, I succeeded in getting the FPL rebate. The contract with Solar Concepts was signed on May 3rd and work began on getting building permits approved by the Town of Davie.
Getting building permits proved a bit more difficult than I expected. Initial plans from Solar Concepts were rejected due to lack of sufficient detail. Steven did tend to be a bit free style in his approach, but was able to rise to the occasion and be sufficiently detailed when required. Permits were approved and work began on June 13th. The permit approval process represented the only significant delay in the project.
The project was completed quickly and was up for inspection on June 19th. It failed the first inspection since 20-amp breakers were installed on each branch circuit, rather than the 15-amp breakers specified in the plans (another example of being a bit too free style for their own good). Once the breakers were replaced, the system passed inspection.
It should be noted that FPL was sufficiently satisfied with the work that they installed a new net-meter very quickly (June 27th),
and the FPL rebate check was in my hands on July 12th.

Overall, I believe Solar Concepts did an excellent job. They are a bit more expensive than most, but I rather pay a bit more for a project than risk having my contractor go out of business half way through the work. The lack of detail in the initial project plan left me and the Town of Davie a bit uncomfortable, but was taken care of pretty quickly.

It was a GREAT EXPERIENCE. Not since moving down here from Ohio 7 years ago, have I met such a genuine and authentic contractor who knows his trade. We opted to use the company provided financing - 1 year NO INTEREST - and was quickly approved. Once the City approved the building permit and the commencement notice was completed, installation began!!! It was going to be a ONE DAY complete job, but Mother Nature interrupted that with an extremely dismal day. All the interior plumbing and tank replacement was done. The only thing left on the second day was the roof mounted panel and plumbing. That went GREAT !!! Steve called for the inspection for the next day. The City Inspector arrived and did a grueling check over of ALL the work - inside, outside UP ON THE ROOF even!!! I really appreciated that good check over. PASSED !!!! Now we've SHUT OFF our ELECTRIC BREAKER that is only a back-up to the solar panel, but have NOT had to use ANY electricity for hot water in days - anticipating MONTHS!!!!!
the WATER is EXTREMELY hotter - which is EXCELLENT. Where the faucet used to be 50% / 50% hot / cold, now it's 30% / 70%.Nice.
Using FPand L's website, we figured we used about $70 - 78 / month for ELECTRIC hot water. Saving about $850 yr savings. (take that out 12 years = $10,200 . Of the $5000 cost - FPand L has a $1,000 rebate program. Submitted everything ON-LINE with Steve's help with the data - check is coming. Then with the Federal 30% Tax Credit, it'll be another $1,500 back on that. The SYSTEM cost of $5,000 is cut in half!! Then the savings?! It's be PAID OFF in 28 months!!!!
DON'T HESITATE - if you want to look at my ROOF and MESSY garage to see the tank, come on by!! The thing is RATED now for 180+ MPH winds (new regs). FANTASTIC. Now when another WILMA comes by, knocking us out for 12-20 days..... this home will have HOT WATER all day long !!!!

The owner of the company does the installation himself with some sub-contractors. From start to finish, he was the paragon of professionalism. He answered all my questions and would respond to my issues immediately. We had some problems with the Miami-Dade code inspectors (who doesn't?). He made sure every single minor detail was corrected without complaint or cost. Highly recommended
